Chapter 141: Greedy, Greedy Won

The heavy oak door to my chambers swung shut behind with a satisfying thud. Torchlight danced across the stone walls, casting long shadows that seed to writhe with life of their own. And there, perched on the edge of my bed like a cat who'd found the cream, sat Kinvara.

She rose with that liquid grace that always made my blood sing, red silks flowing around her curves like water. "You’re finally here, keeping waiting. Your Grace, what have you called—"

I crossed the room in three strides, grabbed a handful of that perfect ass, and pulled her hard against . Her words died in a gasp as I claid her mouth, tasting smoke and cinnamon on her tongue. She lted into , all that calculated sensuality becoming genuine heat as I walked her backward toward the bed.

"My king, I—"

I pushed her down onto the silk sheets, following her descent, swallowing whatever protest she'd been forming. My hands tangled in her dark hair as I deepened the kiss, feeling her arch beneath with a soft moan that vibrated through us both.

Gods, I'd missed this.

When I finally pulled back, she lay sprawled across my bed, lips swollen, chest heaving. The sight of the usually composed High Priestess looking thoroughly ravished sent a surge of satisfaction through .

"Hello to you too," she breathed, then laughed—a rich, throaty sound. "Did you miss that much, or are you just showing off for your new court?"

"Can't a king greet his favorite priestess properly?" I settled beside her, trailing a finger along the curve of her hip. "Though if I'd truly missed you, we'd be having this conversation with far fewer clothes."

Her eyes danced with mischief. "Liar. You've had your hands full with Lannister gold and Lannister won. Don't think word doesn't travel, even to a humble servant of R'hllor."

"Humble?" I scoffed. "You're about as humble as a dragon in heat."

She rolled onto her side, propping her head on one hand. The movent caused her robes to shift, revealing the swell of her breasts. Deliberate, of course. Everything with Kinvara was deliberate. She was my first ally in this world; I knew that much about her.

"Speaking of dragons," she purred, "your sister makes quite the impression. Those transformations... R'hllor's flas burn bright in her."

"Dany's always been special." I caught her wandering hand before it could explore too far. "But let's not discuss my sister while you're trying to seduce ."

"Who says I'm trying?" She freed her hand and traced patterns on my chest. "Perhaps I'm simply catching up with my king. Hearing about his conquests. Admiring his new throne."

"The throne's uncomfortable as hell. Aegon must have had an iron ass."

She laughed again. "Such language from the Dragon King. What would your noble wives think?"

"They're not my wives yet. Haven't chosen a queen."

"Mm." Her fingers found the gap in my shirt, skin against skin. "And how goes that selection? Margaery preens, Sansa broods, Arianne sches… Although I’m unsure about even considering the third one, given her reputation and body count."

"They're all magnificent in their own ways." I caught her wrist again. "Speaking of scheming, when do you return to Volantis? I feel like Volantis’ High Priestess has been away from her ho a bit too long, has she not?"

Sothing flickered in her dark eyes. "Do you want gone that badly? Here I thought we were having such a pleasant reunion."

She's fishing. Always fishing.

"The Red Temple there needs its High Priestess," I said carefully. "Though I admit, your presence here has its benefits."

"Benefits." She shifted closer, her thigh pressing against mine. "Is that what we're calling it now? My Prince, whom I raised into a King."

I scoffed, “Did you now?”

With a laugh, we fell into easier conversation after that—the new temple plans, the integration of R'hllor's faith with the existing septs, the common folk's reaction to dragons. She told about the healings she'd perford, the converts she'd won. I told her about Casterly Rock, about the satisfaction of seeing Tywin's legacy crumble.

Power recognizes power. It was fun to talk about.

Eventually, I steered the conversation where I needed it to go.

"Kinvara," I began, watching her face carefully, "I have a question. A theoretical one."

She tilted her head, dark hair spilling across the pillows. "Oh? The Dragon King seeks wisdom from a humble priestess?"

"Is there a way to restore... purity? To make a woman a maiden again?"

Her perfectly sculpted eyebrows rose. "That's... an unusual question. Why would you ask such a thing? Last ti I saw you're perfectly capable of getting it up even with an old woman like , when did you start liking maidens so bad?"

Careful now. She serves her god first, always.

I sat up, creating so distance between us. Kinvara followed the movent with those knowing eyes, reading anings in every gesture.

"You know I have certain... knowledge," I said slowly. "Dragon magic. The sa source that taught to wake Viserion from stone."

"The ritual in Mantarys." She nodded. "I rember. You nearly burned alive for knowledge you didn’t know the truth behind."

"Worth it." I t her gaze steadily. "But there's more. Magic I haven't shared. Power that requires specific... conditions."

"Virgin blood." Her voice carried no judgnt, only curiosity. "Many of the old magics demand such sacrifice."

"Not sacrifice. Empowernt. And no, it’s not virgin blood, but virgins," I chose my words like weapons. "Protection, specifically. You know Ros and her past—she's served well, but her position is dangerous. Master of Whispers attracts enemies like honey attracts flies. I can give her protection if I can return her virginity.”

It wasn’t about Ros, but Arianne. But if it worked with Ari, I wanted to do it with Ros, too. She had fallen in love with and changed her fate to be with .

Let her think I'm being protective of Ros. Not entirely a lie.

The idea here was that, since the power-sharing ability of my System only activated with my mates whose virginities I’d taken, I wanted to try tricking that. I planned to grant Arianne her virginity back and then take it. In theory, my ability should work then…?

"And this protection requires virginity?"

"The magic is specific. Ancient. Valyrian." I shrugged. "I don't make the rules, I just follow them."

Kinvara was quiet for a long mont, her fingers tracing idle patterns on the sheets. I could practically see her mind working, weighing options, calculating prices.

Co on. Take the bait.

For a mont, I wondered if such magic was too weird to exist. That’d be a pity, but there was more to ask. My eyes travelled to her red necklace. She’s ageless thanks to it, right? He didn’t want to ntion it to her for no reason, though.

Thankfully, there was no need. "There is a way," she said finally. "But it's... complex. How many n has she been with?"

"She was a whore in Littlefinger's brothel. The number would be substantial."

"As I feared. That complicates things since we would need that exact number. Every man she's lain with, we must balance with virgin blood—both male and female. A circle of sacrifice, with her at the center. The ritual would take hours, perhaps days."

"But it's possible?"

She smiled, slow and dangerous. "With R'hllor's blessing, many things are possible. I could oversee such a ritual. Ensure it's done properly. In exchange, I…"

My eyes darkened. Greedy woman. "In exchange, you?"

She moved faster than I expected, straddling my lap in one fluid motion. Her hands cupped my face as she leaned down, her lips barely brushing mine.

"That protection magic of yours," she whispered against my mouth, and the intensity behind her eyes was almost crazy. "I'll receive it first. Won't you give it to , my king?"

What a truly greedy woman.
