"I'm staying," Ciri said quietly. "I don't think I could go back to that world and pretend nothing's changed."

"I'd like to stay too," Vesemir said from the bed. "If only to see what sort of mad future this world's got in store for us."

"Flying tal suits and talking AIs, for starters." Keira chuckled.

"But we will have to handle the upcoming destruction." Triss reminded them. Even though they were safe from the White Frost, it didn't an that they would stray away from their last duties to their world.

But after that it was over. Ciri promised to learn magic from Kamar Taj before going on the journey to stop the White Frost while Liam added himself in the mix as he needed to visit that legendary tower.

That was his ultimate goal. Of course, it didn't an that Steve, Natasha and Tony wouldn't go back. They still had to help Liam. Thor had decided to cleanse those lands of all monsters and had taken the mantle alone.

Liam didn't stop him. Killing monsters was also a kind of an influence. Thus he was more than happy to use the big broad shoulders of Thor. Influence was what mattered to Liam in the ga world and he himself would go there to help in this regard.

He just hoped for a better evaluation at the end.

"So… what the hell are we supposed to do now?" Lambert asked."No monsters. No contracts. No coin. Just… peace and microwaves?"

"You worried you'll get soft?" Eskle asked.

"I'm worried I'll get bored," Lambert shot back. "We don't exactly have resumés."

"We can learn. Takes ti, that's all." Geralt chipped in as he too was thinking the sa.

"Speak for yourself, White Wolf. You're the famous one. People like you."

As they were talking among themselves, a voice ca from the door.

"I can provide you so top of the line jobs."

Everyone turned toward the voice, surprised—but not entirely. There was a man standing with the iconic black trench coat. Yup, it was Nick Fury. He had actually arrived quite soti ago and everyone here had sensed him, but nobody bothered him. Not even Natasha who was now tending to Vesemir.

In addition, Steve had given a run down of their world long ago and thus they knew who this person was.

"What do you suggest?" Eskel asked.

"You don't have a place in this world—yet. But so of you might be useful in ways you didn't expect." Fury replied.

"Oh?" Eskel asked, brow raised.

"I'm putting together sothing low-profile. Protection detail. The kind where a good blade is just as useful as a gun, maybe more. Lambert, Eskel—you two interested in a new kind of contract?" Fury replied.

"You want us as your bodyguards?"

"Personal security," Fury clarified. "Close quarters, high risk. I travel a lot, et the kinds of people who attract trouble. Plus I have a feeling that I am being targeted. I don't like trouble. You two seem… well-equipped to make sure I don't find it." Fury said.

Liam scoffed when Fury said he didn't like trouble. Dude invited troubles left and right due to his curiosity and paranoia.

"What's in it for us?" Eskel asked.

"A lot more than coin," Fury said. "But yes, you'd be paid. Handsoly. And you'd get access to our world's best tech. Combat training if you want it. dical support if you need it. Freedom to walk away if it's not for you."

Lambert looked at Eskel. Eskel looked back. No words were exchanged, just a quiet agreent to think about it.

"We'll let you know," Lambert finally said.

"I'm a patient man." Fury replied.

With that, he turned on his heel and made his way back to the SUV. Before getting in, he called out over his shoulder. He had been here for soti and he could tell that the atmosphere was a but heavy as he had learnt what had happened.

"Oh—and if you do say yes? I've got a tailor who can make those rags look respectable."

The SUV sped away down the dirt road, disappearing behind the hills. Lambert whistled low.

"Guy's got balls."

"Guy's got insight," Yennefer muttered.

6 months later.

The world had changed. Or maybe, it was the people who had.

Lambert and Eskel

Nick Fury didn't have to wait long.

Two weeks after that initial conversation, Lambert and Eskel showed up at a nondescript SHIELD outpost in Manhattan—decked out in better-fitting gear, swords still strapped to their backs, but carrying themselves differently.

Lambert adapted the fastest. He loved the adrenaline, the tech, the fancy food and absurd missions. Eskel was quieter, more thoughtful, more deliberate. He read a lot in his spare ti and had begun journaling again—about the differences in this world, the cultures, the ethics.

Fury had given them purpose. And a paycheck big enough to buy a yacht if they wanted.

Triss rigold

Kamar-Taj beca her sanctuary.

Not in the sense of hiding, but in the sense of rediscovery. She realized that she couldn't use the magic of this world and was only able to follow one path. This frustrated her and thus was now hell bent on learning the new magic.

She didn't need to prove herself. But she studied anyway. On most days, she wore the maroon and gold robes of the order. But when she visited Liam and the others, she still wore her cloak.

Keira tz

Keira had gone off the map—intentionally.

She bought a motorcycle and a fake ID and traveled. From Tokyo's neon-lit towers to the pyramids of Giza, from Iceland's auroras to Brazilian rainforests. She called herself "Dr. Crystal tzenburg" when she had to. Slept under stars, drank strange wines, and even learned how to fly a small aircraft in Australia.

Of course, Fury made sure that he got her adrenaline rushes that she craved for, since she was now the girlfriend of Lambert. Though she wasn't settling down. Not yet. Not until the whole world had been hers for a little while longer.
