The next day.
Click.
Caelum returned ho carrying a huge bag of food. Another shutter sound ca from the shadows. The young man staking out the place across the street was still diligently taking notes.
[June 17, Sunny]
[The target went out today to purchase food. No abnormal behavior observed during the process. It can now be confird that the target has no cooperative relationship with DMB.]
Tap.
A hand suddenly landed on the young man’s shoulder.
"Handso, what have you been squatting here writing every day?"
The young man stiffened from head to toe.
He turned around.
Caelum’s face ca into view.
In an instant, cold sweat poured down his back.
Foxfire Ledger.
It was a secret organization hidden within New Kirk. Long before the Divine Wasteland World descended, this secret organization had already been lurking in the city.
Caelum had once killed a vicious beast that could steal other people’s luck. It had been weak but loved gambling, and it could not handle losing. Once the ga stopped going its way, it flew into a rage.
Then Caelum blasted it into scraps.
That vicious beast had been the boss of Foxfire Ledger, the only S rank existence in the organization. Overall, Foxfire Ledger was not strong. In fact, it could even be called weak.
At least compared with New Kirk’s current environnt, it was truly weak.
However, there was one thing about them. Every mber of Foxfire Ledger ca from the sa ga world, which made their cohesion far stronger than that of ordinary organizations.
The mbers of Foxfire Ledger were lucky. After their boss died, the ga world they belonged to experienced a second invasion, which allowed them to co to the real world as well.
Otherwise, Caelum would have wiped them out long ago.
Caelum had always been cautious by nature. When he cut weeds, he pulled out the roots and left no future trouble behind. If the mbers of Foxfire Ledger had also been in the real world back then, Caelum would have killed their boss and then wiped them out right after.
Similar to Big Potato, the mbers of Foxfire Ledger from the ga world also had a certain setting. Their mories could be passed down and inherited.
After their boss was killed, those who ca to this world inherited his mories. Once they learned of his death, everyone in Foxfire Ledger burned with fury. Blood rushed to their heads as they shouted about avenging their boss and chopping the enemy into pieces.
They were not just talking.
They really wanted to risk their lives against Caelum.
They had inherited all of their boss’s mories before his death, so they knew very well that the person who killed him was Caelum. They simply lacked the strength to act.
That was why they had not rushed off to die.
They were hot blooded.
But they were not idiots.
Before they built up enough strength, they would not throw their lives away recklessly. If they were going to strike, then they had to make sure Caelum died in one move.
Then the Divine Wasteland World descended, and the entire structure of New Kirk changed.
UtahX of Foxfire Ledger had sharp instincts. He imdiately realized this was a huge opportunity for them. The rise of power rental companies allowed him to see hope for revenge.
As long as they had money, they could buy any level of power from the Divine Wastelanders.
Holding to that belief, Foxfire Ledger eventually walked the sa road as Fluffball. Riding the wave of New Kirk’s transformation, they founded their own company.
Then they started scamming money like crazy.
Fluffball was in the agency business. They sold insurance. More specifically, they sold the hottest insurance product in New Kirk, personal safety accident insurance. Even more heartless than that, the insurance Foxfire Ledger sold was fake.
They used other companies’ nas and sold fake insurance under those companies’ banners. Once the money arrived, they blocked the client and disappeared. The whole process worked every ti.
In New Kirk, ordinary people never knew whether they would die today or tomorrow. A personal accident policy was practically a necessity. Sooner or later, it would co in handy.
Of course, this kind of insurance was not only about compensation. So policies really could give the insured a slim chance of survival. So could even revive the insured on the spot. As long as soone was willing to pay, there was almost no limit to how absurd an insurance policy could be.
Foxfire Ledger had made its fortune by selling fake insurance. In just half a year, their earnings had already reached a terrifying total of more than ten billion, even fiercer than Fluffball.
Tap, tap, tap.
A stern looking middle aged man stood at the front of a conference room. He was Foxfire Ledger’s forr UtahX and current boss. He tapped the whiteboard, pointed at the projected sales figures, and spoke to the people below.
"Your performance this month has declined. You failed to et the target, so half your bonus will be deducted. If you fail again next month, your salary grade will be lowered."
"I guarantee I will et the target!" The man had no objection.
He continued, "As for you, your performance this month was excellent. Not only did you et the target perfectly, you exceeded it by forty percent. Your bonus this month will be doubled."
"Thank you, Boss!"
That person’s face lit up.
Before long, the performance review ended. UtahX slamd a hand onto the table and said with fierce encouragent, "Everyone, I have exciting news for you. This month, our total monthly sales have already broken past two billion!"
The people of Foxfire Ledger imdiately perked up.
Joy appeared on every face.
This ant they were one step closer to revenge.
UtahX spoke with surging montum. "Let us maintain this pace and strive to double next month’s total sales. We will grow bigger and stronger, all the way to the top!"
"Grow bigger and stronger!"
"Grow bigger and stronger!"
Everyone was fired up.
"What is our slogan?"
"Face hardship head on and never give up lightly!"
"What is our principle?"
"Better to scam the wrong person than let anyone slip by. If we can trap one, we trap one!"
Nothing else needed to be said.
When it ca to firing people up, UtahX was terrifyingly good at it. The man seed born for this line of work. There was a reason Fluffball’s company was not doing as well as theirs.
Still, when it ca down to it, Fluffball simply was not ruthless enough.
These guys sold fake personal accident insurance. The level of wickedness involved was no longer sothing that could be settled by cursing their ancestors for eighteen generations. People would want to dig up those ancestors and whip their corpses.
UtahX had not even finished his motivational speech.
Bang!
The conference room door was kicked open.
Every sound in the room stopped.
The mbers of Foxfire Ledger all looked toward the doorway. The mont UtahX saw Caelum, his heart lurched, and a chill shot straight up his spine.
"How did you..."
Boom!
Foxfire Ledger’s headquarters was flattened by Caelum on the spot. In a single encounter, every mber of Foxfire Ledger died instantly. The main reason Caelum had personally made the trip was that he was honestly too bored.
Once the dust settled, New Kirk had another empty plot of land.
"Hahaha, more business!"
"The whole building got leveled. Which brother did this? Professional work!"
The people who moved even faster than the Shieldbearers were the real estate workers. Land in New Kirk was worth a fortune now, and their favorite situation was when soone bought a building yesterday and dropped dead today.
That way, the land could be sold all over again.
The profits were insane.
Caelum dusted off his hands.
"Done."
anwhile.
At a certain shady insurance company.
A staff mber casually tossed the contracts in his hand into the trash. A closer look would reveal that this entire stack of contracts was made up of personal accident policies purchased by mbers of Foxfire Ledger from their company.
They were even the extrely expensive resurrection insurance policies.
Unfortunately, this was a shady company, and what they sold was also fake insurance. Contracts like these had no effect at all.
