Bai Zhongqi entered the auditorium like a university professor clutching a book, having delivered lectures at Qing State University's auditorium for many consecutive days. The audience attending wasn't limited to just students from here; many mbers of society and even people who had traveled long distances from other places ca.
The lectures now attracted at least three thousand participants each ti, and the content of his talks was published in newspapers. He had even released the first collection of his quotes, and videos of his talks were widely circulated, broadcast on television and online.
Initially, when he entered, the audience would stand up to show their respect, but later, Bai Zhongqi told everyone to be more casual, so now they all greeted Mr. Bai with a salute.
At this point, Bai Zhongqi's reputation could be said to be second only to Zhang Shixiong, who had beco the warti leader, and his various theories had already begun to exert a huge influence in the Eastern Land. Even Pri Minister Dongfang Xun had strongly criticized Bai Zhongqi's theories as dangerous and to be guarded against in a semi-public speech.
As usual, Bai Zhongqi saw Zhang Yingxi in the first row, which was quite a headache for him.
However, today, he seed to sense sothing unusual in the air. But Bai Zhongqi wasn't aware of exactly what was unusual, so, being cautious, he didn't rush to start his lecture and instead paced around the auditorium.
The audience also felt sothing was off, as Mr. Bai hadn't started his speech promptly as he usually did. Instead, he wandered aimlessly around the auditorium, as if he were looking for soone.
At that mont, a glint flashed in Bai Zhongqi's eyes as he suddenly reached out and grabbed a woman sitting in the audience.
The woman's face changed, and when she opened her mouth, a red tongue shot out like that of a female ghost, acting as a longsword that streaked toward him.
Bai Zhongqi rushed to et this "tongue sword," and the blood-red, frog-like tongue broke into pieces just ten centiters away from his body, as if it had hit an indestructible iron plate. Bai Zhongqi's extended hand didn't slow down and pressed directly on the woman's forehead, striking her as if hamred hard. Her head buzzed, and then she slumped over, limp.
Monts later, a mix of fresh red and disastrously defeated semi-liquid and solid substances began to leak from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
The scene instantly turned to chaos, with so screaming and more people pushing frantically, trying to flee the auditorium. At that mont, a bald man suddenly pulled out a Qikun Knife and exploded with a black glow, charging towards Bai Zhongqi like a demon breaking the sound barrier.
Where the black light swept through, the people around suffered broken limbs and were thrown backward with serious injuries.
Bai Zhongqi curled his lip and drew a pistol, firing with a pop at the assassin. The sound of the gun was as faint as a toy gun's, but the bullet tore through the black glow and directly pierced the assassin's head.
More assassins rushed out, preferring to reveal themselves rather than wait to be picked off by Bai Zhongqi one by one. Previously disguised as students, when they revealed themselves, Bai Zhongqi saw they were from different ethnicities, including Caucasian and Asian, each employing distinct thods.
However, they were all just middle to low-level Star Warriors, known in this world as Mutants. For Bai Zhongqi, whose Star Energy level was high and who might even surpass a typical Samurai master in controlling Star Energy, these assailants were hardly a challenge.
He unleashed the Insect Emperor's Hand, and what appeared to be an ordinary hand suddenly sprouted dozens of dragon-shaped tentacles that ferociously attacked the approaching assassins. At this mont, none could stand as his match.
The chaos lasted for only about two minutes. Fifteen assassins, all perished within the auditorium.
The scene remained extrely chaotic, with terrified audience mbers still pushing and shoving, trying to escape this cursed place. And the guards sent by Zhang Shixiong, eager to rush in to protect Bai Zhongqi, were likewise stuck, unable to move forward or back.
Bai Zhongqi said in a soothing voice, "It's all right now."
This statent seed to directly reach everyone's hearts, settling the nerves of those who just a mont ago had been anxious and afraid.
However, the crowd looked at Bai Zhongqi with awe, and no one dared to co within ten ters of him. It wasn't just because of the bloody corpses with their ghastly deaths littering the ground, but also due to the way he had fought just now.
Mr. Bai was an alien, and that too was earth-shattering news.
"Everyone, please remain calm and orderly. Return to your seats. So comrades are injured and need imdiate dical attention. After the dical team has responded, you can exit in an orderly fashion," he instructed.
In tis of chaos, being told what to do was indeed helpful.
No one dared approach him, but no one dared ignore his commands either.
Only Zhang Yingxi ran over quickly, disregarding the horrifying sight of the bodies on the ground, and asked Bai Zhongqi with concern, "You're not hurt, are you?"
Bai Zhongqi nodded slightly.
Though he often saw Zhang Yingxi as a minor nuisance, it was still comforting to be cared for at a ti like this.
At that mont, Pei Yanshi approached and, pointing to the Qikun Knife on the ground, exclaid, "These assassins were sent by the people of Qikun. They must be afraid that Mr. Bai's revolutionary ideas will awaken more of our brethren, and that after our awakening, we would defeat them. That's why they've resorted to such despicable thods!"
Upon hearing this, enlightennt dawned on the crowd, and soone said, "Yes, the people of Qikun have always been shaless. The military warlords outside the borders were assassinated by them, the Provincial Governor almost t the sa fate, and now they're after Mr. Bai. They're truly beasts!"
Suddenly, the crowd's emotions surged. All the listeners who already harbored hatred for the invaders felt an urge to march into the streets to protest, even to fight to the death against the people of Qikun.
Bai Zhongqi glanced at Pei Yanshi, who returned a aningful look. Bai Zhongqi understood that, regardless of who was behind the attempt on his life, the bla was to be squarely placed on the people of Qikun.
Bai Zhongqi fell into contemplation; indeed, among those people were individuals from Qikun, but their composition was mixed. More critically, the way they used Star Energy was sowhat similar to that of the Pilgrim Yongxi.
"It seems that the Pilgrims have made so preparations in this big fishbowl after all. I deliberately stirred up trouble in the Eastern Land on the Azure Planet to attract Yongxi's attention, and it looks like it had so effect. The only question is where Yongxi is hiding now. From these fallen Star Warriors, I wonder if I can find any clues."
Bai Zhongqi made up his mind that he would need to stir up even bigger storms, make the Azure Planet even more chaotic, to force Yongxi to show himself and resolve his current predicant of being trapped in this fishbowl.
Touching the Holand Stone in his pocket, Bai Zhongqi thought to himself, "It seems I need to speed up my research on this stone. If Yongxi has a trump card left to him by the Pilgrims, then my trump card is this Holand Stone."
