The commander of the 95th Legion, Lai Zhicun, gently filed his own nails with a nail file. He much preferred doing this himself rather than delegating the task to a dostic robot. While filing his nails, Lai Zhicun's expression was extrely serious, even sowhat vacant.

His subordinates stood ramrod straight, not moving an inch behind him. These subordinates were not bionic humans, but rather high-level military officers from different planets within the Star Alliance.

Although in terms of position, their legion commander, Lai Zhicun, was technically ranked below the minister of the Star Alliance Defense Ministry, in reality, he was a true figure of authority, and one of the most trusted individuals of the Star Alliance Chancellor. The 95th Legion was also one of the most formidable and largest fleets within the Star Alliance military.

After Xiao Yu ca into power, the military of the Star Alliance underwent major adjustnts. Not only was the proportion of the Golden Guards increased, but also the original division of military branches was abolished in favor of a more united combat legion structure. A legion not only had a fleet but also had a vast number of mobile troops, air force units, engineering corps, and more.

The legions were divided into garrison legions and strategic legions; the forr served as the main defenders of the Star Regions, the territorial level of the Star Alliance's domain, while the latter were mainly used for offensive and decisive battle tasks. The 95th Legion was a strategic legion.

Lai Zhicun's forces comprised 3,771 warships, 145 mobile battle groups, over 1.8 million various space fighters, and small vessels, totaling over two million personnel.

Such military capability could even be compared to the military scale of many mid-level civilizations, not to ntion the vast difference in quality.

Since its formation, the 95th Legion had participated in nurous significant battles, annihilated a large number of Silver Feather armies, destroyed the last fleets of the Benefactors, and later also took part in wars for the Star Alliance's conquest of many Star Regions in the Lower Orion's Arm, thus their war honors were indeed illustrious.

This ti, the deploynt of the 95th Legion was not a full mobilization but a select detachnt, about two hundred or more warships in size, yet all very much the main force and quite new in terms of ship age.

Of the 15 main battle ships, the flagship Taurus Battleship was a Capricorn Class Battleship that had only been commissioned three years earlier; as a superweapon of battle, it is generally considered to be even more powerful than the now-sealed Sacred Falcon Class Battlecruiser, which was deed obsolete due to sensory factors.

The rest included 4 aircraft carriers, 7 battleships, and 3 battleship cruisers.

It was precisely this formidable fleet and ship capability that made the Gurran people highly regard them.

However, the Gurran people now believed that these Earthlings were rushing to their demise because they were headed to the Wilds of the Galaxy.

Even the high-level officers behind Lai Zhicun were not clear on why the 95th Legion had received the Chancellor's orders to undertake such a distant expedition, especially to the Wilds of the Galaxy, which was superstitiously believed to be the graveyard of powerful civilizations. Although everyone felt the reputation was sowhat exaggerated, the fact that the Wilds of the Galaxy had no civilizations, only small forces established by adventurers, fugitives, and desperadoes, said a lot.

The officers did not dare to question Lai Zhicun. Even though the legion commander seed rather dim-witted, he was known to be ruthless. When the Universe Army began its purge, this legion commander ferociously cleansed many individuals. Against the part of the Silver Feather Army that had once belonged to the Star Alliance, he showed no rcy whatsoever.

Lai Zhicun put down his nail file, his eyes unfocused as he stared out of the porthole into the universe.

"I never thought you'd still be alive," Lai Zhicun silently mused to himself.

Not long ago, Chancellor Xiao Yu received an informant's report that Xu Lanzhou, the forr Commander of the Star Alliance Universe Army who had fled the battlefield in the Xunyi Star Zone, and Han Jiaxue, the girlfriend of the man whose na could not be ntioned, had both been hiding in the Wilds of the Galaxy, tens of thousands of light-years from Earth.

What shocked Xiao Yu even more was that Han Jiaxue had actually given birth to a daughter. While it was unclear whether the daughter belonged to that man or soone unrelated, her very existence posed a threat to Xiao Yu.

The remnants of the old Universe Army, cleansed by the current authorities, were now plotting in dark corners unreachable by the sun's rays. Although their power was certainly not enough to shake the foundations of the Star Alliance, their existence was a challenge to the Chancellor's supre authority.

Lai Zhicun still rembered the scene of Xiao Yu casting that man into the void. Even though the man's existence had been completely erased from the world, he was never truly gone from Xiao Yu's heart. Despite Xiao Yu's position as the Chancellor of the Star Alliance and his enjoynt of supre authority, Lai Zhicun knew that the Chancellor would wake up in fright in the middle of the night and was even capable of killing in a fit of baseless rage.

He was always living in fear, dreading the possibility of that man's resurrection, even though he had thoroughly killed him.

Lai Zhicun thought such a Chancellor was pitiable. That man could never return, and the Star Alliance had been firmly branded with the mark of the Xiao Family. Whether the people of Earth liked him or not, he was the Chancellor of the Star Alliance.

Upon hearing the news that two remnants of the old regi were still alive, Lai Zhicun even felt a slight joy.

His bleary eyes seed to reflect the image of Xu Lanzhou, the woman who was forever defiant and as unattainably beautiful as an alpine flower. She was soone he could never touch in his lifeti. He had never confessed to anyone, never even dared to steal a glance at her when she was nearby, but Lai Zhicun was filled with an infatuation for the daughter of the Shield Knight family.

Many coveted Xu Lanzhou, not just for her beauty but also because she had been acknowledged by the Destiny Artifact of the Shield Knight family, having the potential to beco the next family head, which was synonymous with limitless power. For instance, Xiao Yu once harbored improper thoughts about Xu Lanzhou.

Lai Zhicun rembered how Xiao Yu had frad his brother before entering the R19 Fleet and had secretly stolen the Destiny Artifact from ho. Lai Zhicun hadn't known back then that Xiao Yu possessed two artifacts until just before the incident at Wuyagong Palace when he learned of Xiao Yu's secret.

Lai Zhicun believed that his admiration for Xu Lanzhou was neither for her beauty nor for the power her family held. He had liked her since their ti at the Empire Military Academy, unable to explain why.

The Chancellor's orders had been delivered into his hands. Xiao Yu wanted to secretly capture Xu Lanzhou, Han Jiaxue, and the girl. A task like this was suited only for a confidant like him. Lai Zhicun clearly understood the kind of things Xiao Yu, who had beco cruel and perverted in recent years, might do to them once they were in his clutches.

Lai Zhicun also knew of Xiao Yu's Supre Command; sparing Xu Lanzhou was impossible.

Thus, Lai Zhicun had only one choice: to personally bury the woman he had loved all his life.

Lai Zhicun sat there, appearing exceptionally distracted. He had never allowed himself to fantasize about obtaining true love under different circumstances, but in this world, his love was only bound to bloodshed.
