While the Chancellor and the Star Warrior Master were discussing the beauty and figures of the won from Lingge Star, the atmosphere on Lingge Star itself was anything but relaxed.

Teizene had established an interstellar forward base on Lingge Star of not a large scale, and after the Sixteenth Prince Su Beisi's visit, only a small garrison was left behind, not even a single warship. Only with the support of fleets and transport convoys that arrived later, the Teizene base on Lingge Star slowly expanded in size. Discover more content at My Virtual Library Empire

Even so, there were no more than three thousand Teizene staying on this planet, and they had seized nearly millions of square kiloters of land, driving out or even slaughtering the Lingge people there, simply to place combat supplies.

The base's commander was called Helos, a Lizard Person with dark red scales. Although all Teizene had a lizard-like appearance, like humans on Earth, they were differentiated by so local physical traits into detailed ethnic groups.

As a Red Scale Teizene, Helos was sowhat thinner than the ordinary Teizene, but this did not an they were weak. Red Scale Teizene excelled at burrowing and swimming; they were the only Teizene who could survive in the underwater rivers of Teizene Star. They were also the Teizene group with more urgent needs for water sources; ordinary Teizene could do without water for half a month without affecting their survival, but Red Scale Teizene needed water to moisten their scales regularly, or they would quickly beco powerless and die of dehydration within a few days.

This also ant that Red Scale Teizene were in fact better adapted to life on planets like Earth, which was extrely rich in water resources. At the sa ti, Red Scale Teizene were quite skilled at power and strategy, so many of the Teizene officials dispatched to manage vassal civilizations or to rule other planets were Red Scale Teizene.

Helos stood on the top viewing platform of the Mother of Stars Palace, a landmark building on Lingge Star, looking down at the city below. It was a mont that should have filled him with overwhelming pride, but Helos felt no such positive emotion.

In front of him was a display screen, showing a Lizard Person wearing a golden crown, looking rather imposing.

This Lizard Person was none other than the true ruler of the Teizene Empire—the Great Emperor of Teizene.

"Great Emperor, as per the plan, I used the conflicts between different nations on Lingge Star to destroy one of the major countries; I then pretended to pacify the other nations of Lingge Star, and forced them to submit and pay tribute to us. The situation on Lingge Star has been largely stabilized, and I can assure you that Lingge Star has now beco a stable forward base for our Great Teizene Empire," Helos reported, bowing his head, not even daring to look at the Great Emperor of Teizene on the screen.

The Great Emperor of Teizene sat upright and still, not showing a hint of motion in his body on the screen. He said, "I trust the governing capabilities of your Helos family. I have reviewed the reports from Lingge Star; aside from the slightly slow progress in transforming the local workforce to produce for the Great Empire, I am satisfied with the rest."

Helos was taken aback by the affirmation of the Great Emperor of Teizene, "Your servant is only fulfilling his duties. It is all thanks to the Great Emperor's wisdom and mighty valor, commanding with such skill."

The Great Emperor of Teizene did not respond to this sycophancy. He remained silent for two or three seconds before saying, "Su Beisi has already died in battle for the Great Empire, and the war has developed in a direction we most dreaded. But the Great Empire has never compromised with the enemy. Whether they are the so-called people of Iridium Star or Earth, they must pay for their cris. Unfortunately, our reconnaissance patrol within the Danlu Interstellar Cloud has been detected by them, and we have now lost surveillance over the Danlu Interstellar Cloud. The people of Earth have ard themselves at such a rapid pace that it caught the Great Empire off guard. Hence, we must now eradicate this hostile civilization with imnse potential."

Helos naturally understood the aning of the Great Emperor of Teizene; a significant factor in Teizene's ability to conquer the Galaxy was choosing the right foes to face. They would not provoke enemies that were too big or too powerful. But they encountered an exception with Iridium Star: a civilization with ager strength yet imnse potential, and the rate of fleet expansion was alarmingly rapid.

Setting aside the significant strategic value of the Danlu Interstellar Cloud, rely allowing Earth's civilization to keep growing ant that the Earthlings would undoubtedly seek vengeance for the invasion they suffered. It could be said that, by this point, the Teizene and Earth civilizations were in a state of life-and-death struggle.

This is, in fact, a common phenonon in the universe: two civilizations can maintain a relatively friendly relationship before contact, but once a serious war starts, the basic trust vanishes. Both sides will be constantly wary of the other obtaining the power to break the balance of power and erase their own civilization from the universe. Therefore, both will desperately enhance their military strength until they have completely defeated the opponent, to feel secure.

In the sociology of the universe, this is called the 'civilization trust chain.' When communication between two civilizations is not sufficient, once the trust chain is broken, it is very difficult to nd. Both are likely to move inevitably into a state of full confrontation, evolving into a war—a fight to the death.

Most civilizations strive to maintain this trust chain, but civilizations like Teizene break the chain on a whim without saying a word, and besides two main allies, Teizene seldom maintains normal diplomatic relations with any other civilization.

During this period, the people of Iridium Star and Earth felt that Teizene had initiated an invasion against them. They believed Teizene might invade again. Without completely defeating Teizene, Earth would remain under a latent threat; For the Teizene, having failed to conquer Earth and instead losing a large number of warships, they had confird the astonishing growth of Earth's civilization. If they could not quickly crush the civilization of Earth, given ti, it would surely grow into a force that threatened the existence of Teizene civilization.

The conclusion was that both sides must destroy the other.

The Great Emperor continued instructing Helos, "Although the military of the Great Empire believes Earthlings will not actively attack across vast distances, I believe precautions must be taken early. The base on Lingge Star is a frontline outpost for the Great Empire and may be exposed to the Earthlings' blade at any mont. However, I do not think Earthlings will send a significantly large fleet to Lingge Star. Therefore, I have already dispatched the Eleventh Prince with a fleet to Lingge Star; if a small fleet from Earth appears there, the Great Empire will directly annihilate it."

However, neither the Great Emperor of Teizene nor Helos knew that Bai Zhongqi had obtained the loyalty of the Silver Feather Army, tripling his force. Moreover, normally after a battle, inventory and recuperation are to be expected. The Great Emperor of Teizene aid to use this ti to launch another surprise attack on Earth, aiming for the elent of surprise.

But this ti, they knew far less than before.
