The Jade Vulture hovered in the silent gulf of the Null Stratum—a blank zone on every map, wedged between gravitational anomalies and long-abandoned war routes. No comm relays. No satellite networks. Not even a whisper of regulated traffic. It was the kind of place you only found if you weren’t looking, and Kairos had made sure of that.
The black around him felt alive with potential. Or danger. Possibly both.
Kairos stood on the dimly lit command deck, staring at the obsidian shard in his hand—the First Sovereign Key. It didn’t glow, didn’t hum, didn’t react with grandeur. But the second his fingers tightened around it, the console in front of him blinked to life, strings of red code flickering across its display.

A grin twitched across his lips.
"Y."
The mont he confird, the ship’s systems groaned. Invisible partitions slid aside, and long-buried code awoke. From the depths of the Jade Vulture, alien circuitry pulsed—old-world tech from before the Great Reset, scavenged and retooled into a forbidden beacon.

What returned was not silence. The ship shivered as waves of responses ca flooding back.
Dozens—no, hundreds—of rogue signals pinged his coordinates. Pirate freighters. AI-controlled salvage drones. Ghost vessels from dead trade clans. Most offered nothing but static or baited contracts. But one stood out.
[Connection Established: ZHIVRA-9 — Oracle Broker Tier]
Kairos exhaled.
"That’s who I ca for."
The Arrival of Zhivra-9
Zhivra didn’t enter like a trader. He arrived like a phenonon.
A spatial rift opened mid-air on the bridge, and from within drifted a form both humanoid and surreal. Zhivra-9 was robed in living code, tallic threads weaving across his six-limbed form. His face was a rotating prism of stolen expressions, a stolen smile, a cry of despair, a rchant’s wink—all looping endlessly.
His voice was a whisper laced with static, transmitted directly into Kairos’s mind.
"First-ti Sovereign. New trader. Old blood. Welco to the Deep Circuit."
"I need information," Kairos said. "The second Key. I know you have sothing."
Zhivra hovered silently, then rotated mid-air, all six arms forming an ancient sign of barter.
"Everything has cost. You offer... what?"
Kairos had co prepared. Relics from Aurinox. An original trade contract forged before the Reset. A mory-locked AI shard. And sothing more personal—a page from the rchant’s codex his father had once carried, passed down through forgotten generations of failed traders.
Zhivra examined each item, and for the first ti, the stolen smile on his face paused.
"Sufficient. But one final price..."
Kairos felt it before the words ford.
"I require your Intent."
He hesitated. Intent wasn’t just a strategy. It was a soulprint—an echo of ambition, a future mapped in thought and desire. Oracle brokers could use it to see what a person might beco. And twist it.
Still, he offered his hand.
Zhivra reached forward, index claw glowing blue-white, and tapped Kairos on the chest.
[INTENT SCAN: ACTIVE]Analyzing Future Probability...Predictive Conflict. Erging Sovereignty.TRAJECTORY: Galactic Disruption
The images ca in a rush: Kairos at the helm of a trade fleet, haggling on moons no one dared visit, breaking the monopolies of the Central Guilds. Then—ruin. Betrayals. A bleeding throne. The weight of sovereignty.
Zhivra pulled back.
"You will be chaos, Sovereign. But you are... interesting."
He transmitted a glowing file directly into Kairos’s interface.

Kairos swallowed. The na was infamous.
Aetherion. A world where thoughts beca real—and nightmares beca monsters.
A Warning from the Dark
Trade concluded, Kairos turned to shut down the market.
But before the interface faded, a final signal arrived. No ID. No encryption. Just a symbol: a golden eye, etched into a star.
[The Celestial Auditors Are Aware.]
Even Nira, his AI partner, went silent.
Then whispered, "You’ve kicked the system hard enough for it to kick back."
Loose Ends and Rising Stakes
Kairos stood at the viewing deck long after Zhivra vanished. Below, the Null Stratum stretched on like a wound across the galaxy. Silent. Empty. Watching.
He now had one of seven keys. But the second waited on a planet where the laws of physics obeyed thought—and madness shaped the terrain.
He couldn’t face it alone.
Crew Requisition: In ProgressCriteria: High psychic resistance. Combat-tested. Willing to die horribly.
He accessed old contacts:
Vael Sarn – Ex-void knight, immune to dream interference. Missing three years. Possibly dead. Possibly worse.
Raya Quill – Smuggler and data-diver. Once survived four hours in a psionic storm. Unstable. Loyal to no one.
Brother Hex – Cultist turned rc. Claims to be "already dead." Carries a self-engraved blade that reacts to fear.
Kairos bookmarked them all.
"I’m going to Aetherion," he murmured.
The galaxy didn’t answer—but it shifted.
