Alex took advantage of his confusion. But, the biggest miscalculation he had made was underestimating him. He can clearly recognize that gate, and it was a Space Elent ability. Only a Space Elent can have such a strange technique.
But, if he escaped from there, he can't bring his friends. If he made his friends as hostages, Alex would co sooner or later. Especially with that otherworld beauty 'Anna', Alex won't be able to abandon her. Upon realizing that, he imdiately looked at Anna and Leoz to take them as hostages.
