A remarkable birth is one of the basics of a hero’s epic.
For example, being raised on wolf’s milk, being the child of a god’s affair, sohow being two-thirds god by so principle, or being a mammal born from an egg and raised on milk flowing like sweat, etc.
The stories of many heroes having an extraordinary birth is sothing we can commonly encounter.
In that sense, I was quite looking forward to the idea of a divine lineage in a world where gods exist.
Even if the rank is low, I thought it might be so incredible cost-effective power…
☆☆: Power - Divine Bloodline
The effect is simple.
You can emit a divine aura.
…Surprisingly, that’s all there is.
“What is this? Where am I supposed to use this?”
If I had to say, does it feel like a lower version of a lower version of a lower version of the Avatar of Love?
I was dumbfounded and looked for more detailed information about the Power.
Interestingly, Divine Bloodline wasn’t like a trace left by a specific god.
It was the accumulated power of countless gods who died in the War of the Fallen Gods, with nowhere to go. So of it settled into people, becoming a truly ownerless Power.
It was a mass of pure power without subjectivity, so it didn’t have any significant effects. It just retained a very faint holiness brought on by divine power.
“Not because of being a god’s descendant, but because weak divine power flows through the blood, is it called Divine Bloodline…”
I knew well that not only the gods of the Labyrinth but also the powers of gods who died in the War of the Fallen Gods could be drawn from the gacha.
Wasn’t I putting the Power of the God of Gluttony who t his death outside the Labyrinth into good use?
However, I didn’t expect to extract a power so fragnted that its original form is unrecognizable…rely clinging to a mortal’s body without any real aning.
“Still, I should at least try using what I’ve obtained…”
Based on my experience so far, even Powers and Skills that seem subtle in themselves often had good additional effects.
For example, the Pickpocketing Skill granted imnse agility by my body’s standards at the ti, and the costic Power of Moist Skin had the bonus effect of rapidly healing wounds on my skin.
With the thought that there might be sothing this ti too… I desperately hoped there would be, and activated the Power.
Wooong-
The atmosphere changes so noticeably that I can feel it myself. It’s a bit different from when I activated the Avatar of Love. Back then, it felt strongly like I was a disciple of the Goddess of Love, rather than myself.
Now, it just feels like I’ve been elevated while remaining as I am.
Except that there’s no other particular effect…
“Huh?”
A montary sense of discomfort. Divine Bloodline is fundantally passive, but it was possible to activate it for a certain period, like now.
While activated, the handling of divine power beca significantly freer.
‘…Is it because divine power flows through the blood?’
Simply moving and gathering divine power beca easier, but more encouraging was the slight increase in the power of Power.
Of course, it was really just a very slight increase. At most, 1.1 tis…maybe 1.2 tis if I’m being generous?
However, Divine Bloodline is a Power with minimal activation cost, requiring only a brief cooldown.
In other words, thinking of it as a no-cost buff limited to Power, it’s quite decent.
“At this level, it’s worth a 2-star rating.”
The mood that had plumted slowly climbs back to normal. Not fully satisfied…but it’s fairly decent at this level.
Next is the 3-star Power, Beloved of the Dead.
Unlike Divine Bloodline, it has quite a variety of complex effects. But to summarize simply,
Enhancent of undead controlled by Power.
Less likely to be caught off guard by undead.
Can survive longer in a state of critical injury.
Sothing like that, I suppose.
The undead enhancent was acquired previously, but it was a power that had no use since the monsters faced were half-chanical.
The Call of the Dead will be further enhanced. Although it consus significant ntal strength, it is a Power that allows one to revive corpses as undead and command them.
In other words, it grants the ability to perform acts similar to a necromancer. With a whopping 4-stars, its fuel efficiency might be questionable, but its performance itself would surely be excellent.
If it can be further enhanced, it would be welcod with open arms.
The next ability is not receiving a preemptive attack from ownerless undead. This effect is usually pointless.
After all, how often would one encounter wild undead?
However, the story is different on the 4th Floor. All undead there are minions of the God of Death, but the God of Death t its end and was buried in the Labyrinth.
Therefore, all undead monsters on the 4th Floor are treated as wild undead.
It’s not that I’m not attacked, but rather that I won’t be caught by surprise, so it’s impossible for them to just beat up unilaterally….
Preventing ambushes and being able to strike first on my side is quite an advantage in itself.
That’s because the undead’s presence is extrely faint due to the cessation of life activities.
Unless one can sense death qi, it’s considered a rather tricky Floor for adventurers like who explore the surroundings with five senses.
Not anymore.
The final effect allows for longer survival even after sustaining a fatal injury.
‘The more survival skills, the better….’
It might not be of any help in battle right now, and I haven’t been seriously injured yet, but.
The affairs of the world don’t always go as one wishes. I never know when I might find myself in a dangerous situation. The more insurance I have for such tis, the better.
If Divine Bloodline was a versatile buff despite its sowhat weak effects,
Beloved of the Dead has less versatility, and though it’s a subtle Power more suited for support than attack… On the 4th Floor, it’s an unbelievably useful power.
‘The last one… It’s okay to have expectations, right?’
The first 4-star Magic I’ve obtained, Radiance of Purification.
It’s a simple, yet powerful magic.
It creates a large, intense sphere of light that burns away all wickedness it touches.
Think of it as an even more powerful, area-wide version of the effect from the Unicorn’s Dagger.
The only one who knows the criteria for wickedness is the person who created this magic…but undead definitely belong to that category, so there’s no need to worry.
Since Power is engraved on the soul, as long as you endure the pain that feels like your soul is being torn apart, you can accept a 5-star Power.
However, Skills are engraved on the body, not the soul.
If you accept an excessive Skill all at once, the aftermath to catch up is enormous.
In fact, it hadn’t been long since I got a 3-star spell, and when I got a 4-star spell this ti, I thought my heart would burst.
The increased mana capacity reached nearly three tis the original amount. But.
‘…Anyway, if I use it once, I’ll collapse from mana exhaustion imdiately.’
The growth of specs through Skills is like that. When it’s low-grade, it’s sowhat manageable, but the higher the grade, the more it barely forces growth to a precarious level.
Often, once you cast it, that’s it.
This ti will probably be the sa. It’s neither a sustained type that consus a lot of mana to maintain after activation, nor an auxiliary type that requires no further attention once activated.
It’s an instant-type active magic, so if I test it, I’ll likely collapse on the spot.
‘Still, I need to test it, so I’ll try it in the Labyrinth.’
I just need to hold a mana potion in my mouth and use it while getting so protection from Benny.
I won’t receive a preemptive attack from the undead, but I might encounter those who haven’t completely vanished or adventurers who’ve turned into marauders.
Nodding, I stuffed the fallen Magic Herbs and Healing Herbs into my mouth haphazardly.
This ti, fewer herb-related items appeared than expected, so I could fit them all into the enhanced Gluttonous Stomach.
Instead, a huge amount of Holy Water erged, leaving wondering what to do with it…
‘I’ll just stop by Cradle Trading Company again and borrow a subspace water container.’
Until now, I hadn’t felt the need because I entered and exited the Labyrinth on the sa day without staying overnight.
In large clans, it’s common to stay for several days for extended exploration.
This, in itself, can beco an achievent that adds a bonus to growth stats, but usually, the purpose is to ticulously investigate sothing or to harvest resources.
For such people, water containers that can hold several liters in a small flask have been made, so borrowing one of those should do the trick.
Anyway, since I’ll be using it just this once, I don’t mind if it’s a returned second-hand or an older model.
As I was tidying up the scattered items and getting ready to leave, a shabby wrist crossbow caught my eye.
“Right. I almost forgot about this.”
I imdiately proceeded with the breakthrough by bringing it to the existing crossbow.
With a sparkling light, the Wrist Crossbow began to change its appearance.
The basic form itself hadn’t changed much, but the material had significantly improved.
“Indeed. The tension is different.”
It must be a bit more powerful now. I should test it out in the Labyrinth.
For 200 gold, the number of effective draws is subtle, but at least I’m well-prepared for the 4th Floor.
Wouldn’t this be considered a gain?
I left the training ground with a giggle.
And right next to the door, Benny and Shadow were found crouched, leaning against the wall.
“Why are you sitting so miserably, Benny…?”
“It’s because of you, Jonah…!”
Benny’s justified back smash ca crashing down.
Smack!
That’s just too an.
