They didn’t rush in the direction they had picked, though. Instead, they took their ti floating along the black hot sand of the spiritual dinsion because they wanted to give the blood beasts ti to co to them.
The air in the spiritual dinsion was dry and hot. The sands were also hot.
The whole place looked and felt like the insides of a working oven. Everything was being baked to ashes.
But the heat isn’t why the sand is black. The sand is black because of the corrosion of the impure spiritual energy. This impure spiritual energy is also why the wind is black.
Sotis it rains in the spiritual dinsion. But the rain clouds are always black, and raindrops might as well be droplets of black corrosive acid.
So the rain is usually avoided in the spiritual dinsion. But even without the horror of the rain, the black sand is absorbing so much heat from the sun that it is hot enough to be used as fuel to cook.
Since the sand can be used to cook food, it can surely cook soone alive. The possibility of being burned alive becos very high when heat is coming from both above and below.
Even though they were in their liberated form, the heat was getting to them. This was because even though they are immune to physical damage in this form, they have beco more susceptible to energy attacks.
They were flying above the soil and not touching it, yet their body was steaming and the life energy in their body was reducing.
To this, Legion shouted, saying, "Co and get it. There is a cooking killer in the area, co and get it."
Unfortunately, their advertisent didn’t draw the kind of crowd they wanted. It was a wandering group of feathered snakes with white bony skulls and golden scales that was drawn to them.
Legion didn’t want to fight the snakes, as they belonged to the pathway of death and had nothing to do with them. But the snakes were hell-bent on attacking them because their aura was pure and delicious.
The feathered snakes didn’t think much of the fact that they were just epic beasts and shouldn’t have the power required to take them down. All they wanted was a quick taste of their sweet flesh, so they rushed over to attack.
While Legion was fending off the snakes and looking for their blood beasts, the person that was responsible for drawing all of the attention of the blood beasts to themselves was living in a fortress.
The spiritual dinsion is not devoid of signs of civilization. In fact, it has a lot of buildings and cities scattered across the landscape. It is just that all of these buildings and cities are ruins.
From the ruins, it can be seen that a civilization used to live in the spiritual dinsion. None of the people of that ancient civilization can be found now. Only their buildings remain.
These ruins that remain are made of highly durable materials. It is why they can continue to exist after the heat and the acid rain have burned everything else.
So people can take refuge in so of these buildings and use them to fend off the swarms of divine beasts that co to attack them.
This is usually a temporary thod, as no one can stay in the spiritual dinsion forever. But this might not be the case for this person.
This person is a woman. She is also a rank 8 killer with an innate ability that makes her nearly immune to the corrupt spiritual energy of the spiritual dinsion.
As a killer, she is well aware of the crusade of the church of justice against killers. Even if she were not aware of this before, she beca very much aware of how much the church of justice would like nothing more than to kill her after she killed a captain of the lamp bearers and stole the bloody heart from them.
Actually, she killed many captains and stole many bloody hearts. She did this in order to secure the rank 7, rank 8, and rank 9 divine flesh that she needed to advance. So the church of justice is very pissed with her.
She did this even though she already knew that the church of justice would try to kill her simply for being a killer because she had a safe place to run to. This is a safe place that only soone like her can take full advantage of.
So when she stole the bloody hearts and was chased by the church of justice, she ca to the spiritual dinsion and set up her ho here. The church of justice couldn’t pursue her for long because of the three big dangers of the spiritual dinsion.
This happened a long ti ago. A lot has changed since then.
She is resistant to the corruption of the impure spiritual energy, so she can stay in the spiritual dinsion for a long period of ti. But her innate ability cannot help her in resisting the swarms of attacks.
If not for the fortress that she found, she would have been torn apart a long ti ago. But since she is still alive, she has only drawn more and more blood beasts to attack her.
As ti went on, the number of blood beasts besieging the fortress only increased. Even rank 9 blood beasts have co to besiege her fortress.
The blood beasts look like giant praying mantises. They are blood red with a hard chitin carapace on their bodies.
Blood beasts have eight limbs and two tails. Four of their limbs are hind legs used for walking. The other four of their limbs are curved and shaped like blades.
They don’t have wings, but they have two antennae on their heads and two jointed tails. When they are restless or anxious, they run their two tails together to create a noise similar to the chirping of crickets.
