If they had never been to the headquarters of the Mind Hunter and tried to reach it with their physical body as soon as they beca legendary telepaths, they would never have been able to find the authority of the pathway so easily.
Even though it involved so coincidence, as they were not looking for the authority of the pathway when they ca here, they won’t believe that this coincidence has only happened to them and no other legendary telepath has experienced it.
The legendary telepath that they approached for information was the bartender of the bar that Gerald took them to the first ti they went to the Mindscape.
When they t with him and were about to begin conversing with him, they realized that they were not the only ones around the giant grey cube. This was because they saw another bird.
The bird they saw was a psychic shrieker like them. As soon as they saw it, it saw them. They didn’t wait for it to do anything before they disappeared from their location imdiately.
The psychic shrieker also disappeared from its location and appeared in the place they had been. It tried to grab them, but they were already gone.
So it cursed, "Damn it!"
This psychic shrieker is actually a demigod telepath. He is stronger than them in terms of spiritual power, but he still couldn’t catch them. This was because there is no concept of distance in the Mindscape.
If there is no distance, then speed is instantaneous. The faster person will be the person with the faster speed of thought.
If Legion had tried to chat with him and had been slow to leave by a single step, he would have grabbed them and tried to kill them.
But Legion was quick to leave, so he missed them. Since he didn’t know where they went, he couldn’t chase after them. This was another consequence of the absence of distance.
Legion didn’t know that the demigod had intended to harm them. They had simply left because they found the whole situation suspicious.
The situation of the authority of the pathway being out in the open for anyone to take made them suspect that there was a sche sowhere.
They suspected that the authority of the pathway was bait and that trying to take it was synonymous with falling into a trap. So when they had seen soone else suddenly appear, their first thought was to run while they could.
anwhile, conversation with the bartender had begun.
Legion asked him, "Why has no legend taken the authority of the pathway yet?"
They didn’t try to be subtle or indirect in hopes that the bartender would tell them what they wanted to know. They didn’t do that because they didn’t think they could trick the legendary telepath into spilling information about the most important aspect of the pathway.
Either the information could be easily acquired or not. If it was easy to acquire, then asking for it directly will help them to get it.
If the information is very valuable and not easy to acquire, then they will have to pay so price to get it after they exposed the fact that they wanted the information or sche to kidnap a legendary telepath and read their mories with their new divine ability.
They also didn’t have ti to ss around and fish for information. So they directly asked for what they wanted to know right from the start.
The bartender asked in confusion, "What do you an?"
Legion scoffed and said, "Don’t act confused. The large cube is just sitting there. Surely there has to be a reason why no one has taken it."
The bartender chuckled and said, "I was just trying to confirm that you truly know about it and are not just fishing for information."
Then he said, "I take it that you are a new telepath. I also take it that you didn’t try to touch the Mind Palace."
Legion asked, "The na of the authority of the pathway of telepaths is the Mind Palace? Why have I never seen any information about it in books? Who ca up with such a na?"
The bartender shrugged and said, "I don’t know. No one knows. I heard it from soone who heard it from soone else. There is no record of it anywhere."
"Speaking of which, the reason why no one has taken the Mind Palace yet is the sa reason there is no record of the Mind Palace anywhere. It is not that everyone is trying to keep its existence hidden. The reason is simply that no one can interact with it."
"No one can touch the Mind Palace, and even if I write information about it onto paper, the information will disappear."
"The only way for the information about the Mind Palace to be kept is through mories, and the only way to interact with the Mindscape is with the mind."
Legion said, "I see. So has any ans been found to subdue the Mind Palace?"
The bartender asked sarcastically, "If a way has been found to subdue it, will it still be there for anyone to take?"
Legion replied, "It could be that soone has already taken it but left it there to bait people."
"Besides, if no ans has been found, how did the virtual flesh co about, and why were people told that it could be used to get the Mind Palace? Or was that claim a lie?"
The bartender nodded and said, "You do have a point. In fact, you have made many points. I am impressed, so I will tell you what I know."
"There is a general consensus about how the Mind Palace can be subdued. This idea ca about when the first person to grab the Mind Palace ca up with only the virtual flesh. It was deed then that the key to subduing the Mind Palace must have sothing to do with the virtual flesh."
