The main body of the god of killing had died to the church of justice over a thousand years ago. That was a long ti ago, during which the god of justice has grown stronger.
But in that ti, he hasn’t grown any stronger. He is currently at most a half-god who needs sacrifices to keep existing, so there is no way that he can fight the god of justice now.
Now his lacking power will make him fail in his quest to resurrect again. He doesn’t have the power to protect the vessel he wants.
It is not that he can’t defeat the angel of justice sent to kill the angel of killing. He is sure that he can.
It is just that it is not worth it to expose himself for an incomplete angel of killing. If he appears and fights the angel of killing, he can be sure that the god of justice will send his godlings after him.
Those godlings will be able to kill him. Even if one can’t kill him, the god of justice can still send more.
So he can only give up on protecting the incomplete angel of killing. He doesn’t like it, but he knows that it is the smart option.
It is smart choices like this that have kept him alive long after the other souls were killed. So even if he doesn’t like it, he will do it.
He sighed again and said, "I hope the one in the spiritual dinsion will do better. Or should I go back to my plan of trying to create an angel of killing in secret?"
Legion wasn’t the only one he had been counting on for redemption. There was also another killer he had great hopes for.
The other killer is already a legendary killer and is in the process of becoming a demigod. One more step after that and she will be ripe for the taking.
She had previously stolen a bloody heart from the church of justice. She wanted to use the bloody heart to advance to rank 8 because that piece of his flesh contained the rank 8 divine ability.
This was a good thing to him because if she advances to rank 8 with his body, she will beco easier to possess when she becos an angel. That bloody heart would be a backdoor for him to gain access to her existence without having to fight her.
It is not that he can’t subdue her in a fight. But he would rather not fight her if he can avoid it.
The first reason being he doesn’t want to destroy his vessel or put her in a situation where she would beco desperate enough to lose control.
The second reason being that he is currently in an incomplete state. Without the main body, he is finding it difficult to remain alive. It is taking a lot of resources and effort to keep him alive. Engaging in a fight will only exacerbate his incomplete state.
So it was a good thing that there will be a weakness in her existence, which he could use to stealthily take over her existence and catch her off guard.
The thought made him amused for a while. He chuckled and said, "I bet she thought using the flesh of a dead god to advance would make her closer to the other flesh and make it easier for her to find the authority of the pathway. She doesn’t know just how right she is to think that."
Unfortunately, her action of stealing the bloody heart alard the church of justice. They began pursuing her.
In order to escape the pursuit of the church of justice, she went to the spiritual dinsion. The chaotic environnt there made it easy for her to evade capture and death.
However, this still wasn’t enough to deter the church of justice. If they put in more effort, they would be able to catch a rank 7 killer even if she runs into the spiritual dinsion for safety.
In order to prevent the loss of the hopeful killer, this half-god sent so of his believers to kill the captains of the lamp bearers and steal their blood hearts.
His believers stole bloody hearts in many places. They stole it for him to keep and hide, but the main goal of their actions was to distract the church of justice and make it difficult for them to focus on the killer in the spiritual dinsion.
So far his plan has worked. He doesn’t know for how long it can continue like this, but he hopes that the killer will be safe until she becos an angel.
It is just that the process of becoming an angel is slow. It can take an average of 500 years for a legend to beco an angel. This is a long ti to wait for sothing, but he can only wait.
He had tried to do other things that might help his situation while waiting. One of the things he did was to raise killing godclads in captivity until they beca angels. Unfortunately, it never worked.
The plan of raising an angel of killing in captivity failed for many reasons. For one, keeping a powerful godclad in captivity requires the strength to keep them from escaping. He has that strength, but using it makes his existence leak and fracture.
So trying to keep a legend or even a demigod in captivity usually backfires by making his soul scatter, which pushes him closer and closer to death.
The second reason that plan failed was because the killers needed a modicum of freedom in order to fulfill their advancent requirents.
He couldn’t keep them tied up in a sealed place forever, or they would never grow stronger. But if he gave them freedom, they would try to escape, which would lead to him having to expend his strength to keep them alive.
The third reason, and perhaps the most important reason, he can’t keep godclads in captivity for the sole reason that captivity affects their ntal state and makes it very easy for them to lose control.
