Reinfield City has more than one spirit spring. It has one large spirit spring at its core and several others in the districts of the outer city.
The spirit spring at the core of the city is about ten tis more productive than the one in Ivory Town. The core of the city itself is about the size of Ivory Town.
The distance between the core of the city and the outer city is the distance between Ivory Town and its surrounding villages. It is a long distance, but the outer city was built where it was built because the region it is in possesses spirit springs.
In between the core of the city and the outer city is the inner city. The inner city is the largest part of the city since it occupies the large empty space between the spirit spring at the core of the city and the spirit springs in the outer city.
This arrangent makes Reinfield very big. Being large ans it was difficult and expensive to develop. It also ans that Reinfield will be very difficult to protect.
There is just too much ground to cover. So the founders of the city ca up with a nifty idea. As rchants, they decided to minimize their cost by outsourcing the protection of the outer city to others.
The outer city is the part of the city that needs protection the most. After all, if anyone will attack Reinfield from outside the city, it is the outer city that will be hit first.
But the founders of the city didn’t want to spend the massive amount of money needed to protect such a vast expanse of land. So they handed over the protection of the outer city to security agencies, or what are also known as gangs.
The gang got a good deal out of the offer. They got to earn 10% of the profits of their districts. So the better their districts are doing, the more they will earn.
It was in the best interest of gangs to protect their districts and make them profitable. Unfortunately, not every district has a spirit spring to support its industry.
So districts don’t need the support of a spirit spring to be profitable. For example, the warehouse district where goods are stored doesn’t need a spirit spring.
But a farming district needs a spirit spring. Energy water helps both plants and animals to grow healthy and faster. Without a spirit spring, a farming district will suffer.
Without a spirit spring, the food production in the farming district is going to be more expensive than in other farming districts. If the city further decides to import most of its food, then the farming district will suffer even more.
In such a case, the unsuccessful farming district will beco unattractive to most gangs. Very few rank 4 godclads are willing to compete for such a poor place. It is why a whole district can be controlled by a gang controlled by a rank 3 godclad.
But if the leader and the two commanders of that gang suddenly beco rank 4 godclads, it is common sense that such a poor place won’t be enough for them. It is common sense to expect the three new godclads to want to expand their territory.
A gang with three rank 4 godclads deserves a better territory. It was why the neighbors of the Golden Hamr gang were so nervous when the gang began recruiting manpower.
With everything that is known, it is common sense for the neighbors of the Golden Hamr gang to expect an invasion. So they ought to be alert and on the lookout for an invasion. That is the smart thing to do.
Unfortunately, because gangs are supported by nobles, the neighbors of the Golden Hamr gang beca misled. They let down their guard and put away the fear that common sense had induced in them.
The Bright Coin gang was the first gang to pay for this negligence. It is a gang controlled by a rank 4 rchant.
rchants like to save money and avoid unnecessary costs. So of the two neighbors beside the Golden Hamr gang, the Bright Coin gang was the first gang to drop any semblance of alertness and return to business as usual.
Even if the Bright Coin gang had been on the lookout for intruders, it would have been very difficult to notice the infiltration of a rank 4 assassin and a rank 4 thief.
But they would have at least stood a chance of noticing if they had increased the number of guards patrolling their base. They would also have a lot of people to help their gang leader in case of an attack.
Unfortunately for them, the divine ability of a rank 4 rchant is the Power of Wealth. This is a divine ability that grants rchants raw power based on the amount of wealth in their possession.
Because of this divine ability, the more money the gang leader owns, the stronger he will be. So it is always the priority of a rchant to cut down on unnecessary expenses.
Thanks to this situation, the rank 4 assassin called Black Hamr and the rank 4 thief called Thieving Hamr were able to sneak into the base without much effort.
Black Hamr achieved his stealth using a rank 1 divine ability called Cloak. Thieving Hamr, on the other hand, managed to keep us with Black Hamr by using his rank 4 divine ability called Stealing Ability.
The rank 4 divine ability of thieves allows them to steal the divine abilities of others. This ability is so powerful that they can steal any divine ability from rank 1 to rank 9.
All that this divine ability needs to succeed is physical contact with the target and the advantage in spiritual power.
As long as a thief is touching a target and the spiritual power of the thief is greater than that of the target, the divine ability will succeed in stealing any divine ability of the thief’s choice.
