He didn’t bring Legion-10 here just to eat and drink. He brought them here to eat and trade.
To him, that’s an efficient way to have a good ti and also grow stronger. So he felt proud about it.
Legion-10 didn’t care about the food. They couldn’t care about sothing that is a product of a powerful entity who is enthusiastic about the mindscape for an unknown reason.
So Legion-10 ignored the eating aspect. But he did take a seat with Gerald and listen to the man introduce the bar.
Gerald called a waitstaff over and ordered so drinks and snacks. While waiting for his order to arrive, he pointed to the wall on the left side of the bar.
There were writings on the wall. He could see the writings at a glance and understand what was written, so Legion-10 could already guess the function of the wall before it was introduced.
He said, "See? That’s the trading platform. It is divided into two sections. One is for requests, and the other is for advertisents."
"You can go up there and input what you want. Everyone who has used the trading platform will be inford of your request. If soone has it, they will send a ssage to you."
"You two will negotiate the price. This can be done through ssages or in a eting in the mindscape. When both sides have co to an agreent, you can exchange the goods through the mindscape."
"The trading platform was established by the legend. Every trade that goes on through it is also guaranteed by the legend."
"The legend serves as the middleman. It is to him that you will send the money. The seller will also send the goods to the Legend. When the conditions for trade have been t, the Legend will then send the money to the seller and the goods to you."
Legion-10 said, "That sounds good, but..."
Gerald didn’t let him finish. He rolled his eyes and said, "I know that you’re a suspicious lot, so I know what you want to ask. You want to ask what the legend gains from doing this and why he would do it."
Legion-10 didn’t like being interrupted and their concerns being belittled, but they didn’t complain about it or make a fuss to their helper.
They just nodded and let Gerald continue.
Gerald answered their unasked question, "For his service, you will pay the legend a fee. He gets a brokerage fee of 5% of the value of the transaction. I think that’s more than reasonable."
Legion-10 said in agreent, "Seems fair and reasonable."
They agreed, but they were still suspicious of the Legend. How couldn’t they be? The legend created a trading platform in a bar where he also serves food.
Others might think it is a coincidence that food is close to the trading platform and that people who co here also eat this food, but they are not so optimistic.
As people who have died many tis, they know that there are always new ways to die. If they are to prevent themselves from being killed, they have to be cautious and suspicious of everything.
Gerald heard Legion-10 agree with him, but he still said, "If you don’t find it reasonable, you can always try other trading platforms."
Legion-10 didn’t mind his tone. Instead, he focused on sothing more important and asked Gerald, "So there are other trading platforms. How many are there?"
Gerald replied, "There are many trading platforms, and I know so of them."
Then he shook his head, "But I don’t know how many trading platforms are here. It is a large city, after all."
Legion-10 nodded in agreent and said, "That’s true. So are those trading platforms in bars like this one?"
Gerald shook his head in denial. "Not all trading platforms are in bars. So of them are in bars, but others are in places like restaurants, theaters, and brothels."
He explained, "Don’t look down on the won in the brothels. They were created by legends, and the pleasure they provide is better than won in the real world. They add liveliness to this otherwise dead and grey world."
Legion-10 thought to himself, "So Legends are enthusiastic about the virtual corpse. These sa legends create trading platforms close to their artificial products that feel better than real ones."
Legion-1 said, "If I didn’t know better, I would think the trading platforms are bait and the artificial products are the traps."
Legion-2 suggested, "Or is it the other way around? Is the artificial product the bait and the trading platforms the trap?"
While the clones were arguing, Legion-10 asked Gerald, "So is this whole world one city, and is this whole city just a bunch of trading platforms in various entertainnt establishnts?"
Gerald replied while looking at a lady, "As far as I know, this city is all that exists in the mindscape. But there aren’t only trading platforms."
"There are libraries, bounty and assassination lists, information trading businesses, and other service providers like fortune telling of the pathway of luck and prediction of the pathway of fateweaver. Basically, if you have a service that you can offer, there is sowhere you can sell it."
Then he said to Legion-10, "Look around yourself. I want to have a chat with that lady."
After saying that, he stood up and left. He went over to the lady’s table and began talking with her.
Legion-10 thought that he went over for serious reasons. But the more he saw, the more he saw that Gerald was flirting with the woman. It looked like Gerald wanted to have sex with her.
After Legion-10 realized what Gerald’s goal was. He looked around in awe and said, "This place is truly worthy of being the corpse of the god of telepaths."
They were further impressed when they perceived the aroma of the food being cooked in the kitchen behind the bar. The aroma felt so real that it drew their attention to the kitchen and to the cook.
