The more the man spoke, the more excited he beca about what he could do to them. The three hamrs listened silently and deliberated amongst themselves before they finally responded.
Fast Hamr asked, "Do the nobles know about your organization? How can it still hide when you tell practically everyone you et that you're a telepath and you belong to an organization?"
The man laughed when he heard their question. He said, "You're right. I am quite talkative. You're also right to believe that our organization isn't hidden. It is well known among powerful people."
Fast Hamr asked, "So how is it that you guys haven't been destroyed yet?"
The man shrugged and said, "It is simple. It is because they can't destroy us."
"Now, before you find that absurd, I bring to you the earlier matter I stated. You three can take down six or even nine other godclads yourselves. But you can't take down now."
"It might have been possible for you to defeat when I was at rank 3. I would have to run and hide everywhere. But I am rank 4 now. I can finally attack others ntally."
"In short, I have grown too strong to be easily squashed. The sa is true for my organization. We have grown too strong. Besides, we also benefit the nobles by helping them grow stronger. So rather than fight us to death and incur damages, it is better for them to work together with us and grow stronger."
Heavy Hamr shook her head in disbelief and said, "I still can't believe it."
She clarified, "I don't an that I don't believe what you said. I believe that you people have beco too strong to be eliminated easily. What I don't believe is that they allowed you to grow in the first place."
The man said to her, "No need to explain there. I already knew what you ant from your first statent. Don't forget that I can read minds."
The three of them frowned while the man laughed in amusent.
After having so fun at their expense, he explained to them how the current situation ca to be.
He first started with a question, "Why does anything ever happen?"
He replied imdiately, "Everything happens because of benefits."
"There were benefits to be had by having the power of a telepath at one's disposal. The nobles could use the telepath against their enemies or to stabilize their minds and help themselves to advance. For the latter, they used contracts to keep the telepaths in check and make sure that the telepaths don't turn their minds upside down."
"Anyway, there were a lot of benefits to keeping telepaths. The nobles had one of two telepaths in their families, or they employed so telepaths to use."
"Most of that employnt was by force. Telepaths had to work for them or be killed. They couldn't resist because they didn't have any offensive ability. That changed at rank 4."
"At rank 4, the telepaths could resist. But they didn't fight alone. Instead, they pooled their resources together and worked together to achieve freedom. By then, it was too late for the nobles to stop us. That's how we ca to be."
Heavy Hamr said, "That's quite the tale."
The man nodded in agreent. "It is. Unfortunately, it happened a long ti ago so it has been forgotten. But do you know what I like most about the story?"
As usual, he answered his own question. "It is that the nobles knew that the telepaths might turn against them, but they still had to help their telepaths to rank 3 as that was the level that telepaths had to be in order to be of use in helping them advance."
"The needed the telepaths to be able to hypnotize them, so they helped the telepaths to reach rank 3 knowing well that if the telepaths advance to rank 4, they might beco too dangerous to control."
He sighed looking lost and said, "They knew this risk, yet they took the gamble and here we are today."
Then he looked at them and said, "You might think the nobles to be foolish, but I don't think so. I don't think so because the rebellion of the telepaths, the nobles haven't been hard. In fact, they have grown stronger."
This was a lot to think about. The table beca silent as everyone mulled on that information.
Then Golden Hamr finally asked, "Tell us more about this organization. How should we join, and what is required for everyone that joins?"
The man clapped and said, "Good choice. You won't regret this decision, I promise you."
He had already seen that the three of them had had a change of mind. They have decided to consider his offer seriously instead of figuring out how to kill him, so he said what he said.
As soon as he said what he said, he sensed that they didn't believe him.
So he sighed and said, "You still don't believe . You think a villain with an ulterior motive. Only ti will prove my innocence."
Before Fast Hamr could urge him to get on with the matter at hand, he stopped and began speaking.
He said, "First of all, only telepaths can join our organization. As long as they are not lamp bearers, any telepath can join us."
"This is not a discrimination against other pathways. Only rank 1 telepaths with the ntal probe divine ability will be able to go through the process of joining our organization."
"If there is anyone we are prejudiced against, it will be lamp bearers. We hate them very much."
Fast Hamr chuckled and said, "I'm sure that the lamp bearers hate telepaths very much too, so I don't think you're being prejudiced here."
Heavy Hamr added, "Even if you and your organization are discriminating against the lamp bearers, it is mild compared to what they want to do to you."
Golden Hamr also grinned and said, "Right. I here that they wish that telepaths don't exist at all and are willing to do anything to make that wish a reality."
