The First Sage put all his power into a single attack. The montum of the attack was weak in the absence of the empowernt of his foundation. To any world god, it would be easy to flick him away like one would flick an ant. But the destruction he was causing was shocking. He cut through the serpentine world god, Ghastorix, the keeper of secrets, with a single attack. A hole had appeared in their bodies with that attack, and their worlds were already cracking as it was being severed from their Supre law. He had lined up the attack perfectly. One move injured all four parties. Even CARNAGE was attacked, but the attack didn't injure it at all. Only the three world gods were injured.
The first sage clearly had the upper hand. But he didn't press the attack. He stopped and addressed them, "I will win this fight if it continues. But I will also lose sothing. As for you three, you will lose completely if we continue."
He ant that they would surely die if he continued fighting them, but the fight will delay him and let CARNAGE finish its evolution, which will ruin his plan. The Serpentine world god understood this, so he sneered and said, "As usual, you have co prepared with cunning words and a strong stance. But this ti I am ready to lose. I am ready to throw everything away as long as you lose sothing."
He was ready to fight to the death there and there because he had decided to be petty and unreasonable. The Keeper of Secrets didn't like how the situation had turned out, but she spoke up to dissuade the Serpentine world god, "Don't be rash. Nothing has changed with him here. We can still beco usurpers with him. In fact, the chances of our success will be higher."
The Serpentine world god said, "More like the chances of him backstabbing us will be higher. This is what he always does. He will corner you and give you a way out that seems reasonable. You will take this way out and fall into his trap."
Ghastorix spoke. "I have to agree with the Viper God this ti around. It is clear that we have been played. We've been played either by Legion or the first sage. We should cut our losses when we can instead of investing more and walking deeper into his sche."
The Keeper of Secrets insisted, "What do we have to lose if he tricks us that we won't lose if we fight now?"
Ghastorix asked, "What will he gain if we don't fight now? I'll tell you what he will gain. He will beco a Usurper. If I give my everything to stop him from becoming a Usurper, then I am all for it."
This was the sa stance that the world gods fighting the god of power had taken. They might lose and gain nothing, but they were not willing to let the first sage gain anything either. The Serpentine world god added, "You have already fallen into his trap if you think you can't lose more than this. That's how he gets you to do his bidding and sink further. Be warned and not fall into his trap."
But despite all the warnings, the Keeper of Secrets still didn't want to give up. She insisted, "But at least we have a chance to beco Usurpers too if we work together with him. When there is a chance, there is hope."
They began arguing because they couldn't decide what to do. The first sage was right. If he continues to fight, he will surely win because he has an apocalypse weapon, and they are fighting a world ender who, unlike them, is not weakened by the apocalypse weapon.
On the one hand, if the fight continues, they will die. On the other hand, if the fight continues, CARNAGE will break free or continue his evolution into a world ender. When that happens, it will gain Chaos blood. Then the three of them will surely die. Even the first sage will lose out because CARNAGE will beco too dangerous to ss with then. So the best thing for everyone is for them to stop fighting and work together. That way the four world gods will be able to easily subdue CARNAGE and seal it before it completes its evolution.
This is not sothing that Legion planned for. They could have chosen to use the first sage's world fragnt as a link to send CARNAGE over directly to him. But they didn't want the first sage to have CARNAGE easily.
So they sent CARNAGE to soone else. They were hoping that after CARNAGE contaminates and starts a war of existence with the world god, that world god wouldn't want the first sage to gain control of CARNAGE. Especially if that person hates the first sage in the first place. Their plan was good, as this would have happened if it were only the Serpentine world god that had encountered the first sage. The Serpentine world god is currently willing to fight to the death with the first sage and would have fought to keep CARNAGE at all costs. But there was also the keeper of secrets and Ghastorix.
The Keeper of Secrets refused to give up. She convinced Ghastorix, and the two of them forced the Serpentine world god to work together with the first sage. They had to break off their initial oath and alliance created to work against the first sage first before they could work with the first sage.
Then they ford another alliance with the first sage. So the first sage managed to turn enemies into helpers and three of them at that. Yet, all he did was attack once.
Ghastorix and the Keeper of Secrets didn't like this, but they had no choice aside from death. Besides, at least this way they had a shot at gaining more power. More power is always good.
