"You sick freak, get lost." Catching him off guard, Sang Luo unleashed a Soul attack straight at his eyes.
"Agh! You bitch!" the man shrieked, clutching one of his bleeding eyes.
His other hand lashed out at her chest.
The next second, half of his arm exploded into bloody chunks.
"Sang Luo!"
Ah Ze appeared in a flash to catch Sang Luo, pulling her tightly into his embrace. His ice-cold gaze locked onto the bleeding, screaming green-haired man. For the first ti, Sang Luo saw utter rage on his face!
"So you have backup!"
The green-haired man’s face twisted, and he imdiately activated the Array. The mbers of the Insect Clan below didn’t have ti to escape and were instantly sacrificed.
An eerie, terrifying red light flared. Sang Luo was terrified. ’It’s a sha I don’t know the first thing about Arrays,’ she thought. ’If I’d known this would happen, I would have spent more ti reading those books in Caesar’s study.’
"Get the people out first!"
Ah Ze turned to carry her away.
"Hey, I told you to save the people first—" Cool lips landed on her forehead. Sang Luo blinked, stunned. Ah Ze held her face in his hands, gazing at her for a long mont, as if he had a thousand things to say. In the end, all he whispered was, "Wait for ."
He vanished in an instant. Freed, Sang Luo flew into the sky and looked down over the entire city.
The Array expanded rapidly, encompassing the entire city in the blink of an eye.
One second before it fully activated—
BOOM! The Array shattered.
The crisis vanished before the people in the city even knew it was happening.
Sang Luo returned to the inn, lost in thought. She overheard the patrons buzzing with news: all the missing females had returned, including the City Lord’s own noble female. The Beastn dispatched to investigate had discovered the remnants of a sacrificial Array and traces of the Insect Clan. In response, the City Lord had imdiately canceled the beast-fighting tournant, sealed the city gates, and ordered a city-wide investigation.
Ah Ze returned that night.
He refused to leave her side.
His passion was different from usual—fierce, almost sorrowful. Sang Luo quickly surrendered, her body lting into a boneless puddle. Only then did he reluctantly release her, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
Sang Luo hugged him, nuzzling her head against his chest. Her voice was laced with a satisfied, coquettish charm. "Is there anything you want? Let make it up to you~"
He placed a hand on her lower abdon, his touch full of endless tenderness.
"The gift... Ah Ze wants... is right here..."
She smiled. "You’re so greedy."
Ah Ze buried his head in the crook of her neck and seed to let out a deep sigh. "Sang Luo..."
「From that day on」, Sang Luo noticed that Ah Ze’s health was deteriorating. He lost weight rapidly, and his scales grew dull and faded, losing all their vitality.
When Sang Luo prepared a al and called him, he wouldn’t move. He would only respond with a few weak thumps of his tail, but he refused to eat. He spent nearly all his ti sleeping.
Sang Luo was terrified that Ah Ze would fall asleep and never wake up. ’Was he secretly injured by that mber of the Insect Clan?’ While he slept, she secretly tried to use her own power to heal him. It helped a little, but not much.
It was the first ti her power had proven so ineffective.
’Why?’
She watched as Ah Ze grew weaker and weaker, becoming so thin that his once beautiful skin seed stretched taut over his bones. It was a heartbreaking sight.
This went on for about half a month, until Ah Ze’s body had wasted away to an extre. He was nothing but skin and bones. ’If he didn’t still respond faintly when I call his na,’ Sang Luo thought, ’I’d be sure he was already dead.’
"Ah Ze..."
Sang Luo went to the bedside and shook him, forcing him awake.
Ah Ze flinched, his eyes opening, filled with confusion and helplessness. A mont later, his pupils trembled. "Sang Luo, don’t!"
He saw Sang Luo take out a knife and slice open her right palm. As bright red blood gushed out, she quickly brought her hand to Ah Ze’s mouth.
So color returned to Ah Ze’s pale, gaunt face, but he choked on the blood and began to cough violently. He shoved her away, his eyes blazing with a rare anger. "Sang Luo!"
Sang Luo sighed. "Be good. My blood helps you." ’I’ve already lost one person,’ she thought. ’I can’t lose another.’
His lips pressed into a thin, tight line as he refused her blood.
But in his current state, he was powerless to resist. His pained struggle gave way to acceptance.
One day, Sang Luo returned ho to find Ah Ze standing at the door to welco her. It was the first ti he had gotten out of bed in half a month.
His body was lean and tall. A waterfall of pale blue, almost silver hair cascaded down his back. He had long, silver-blue eyes, fringed with thick lashes. His features were as fine as if carved from jade—alluring yet aloof, flawlessly perfect.
Sang Luo hurried over, gently touching his face. "Why are you up today? Are you feeling better? I bought so of your favorite fresh fish. How does fish soup sound for dinner tonight?"
