"Li, my father is waiting for you in the Assembly Hall. What are you doing here by yourself!"
A young, spunky female with white hair and a charming air walked over, and the words caught in Sang Luo’s throat.
She watched as the young female affectionately took Lan Cang’s hand.
He pulled his hand away a mont later, but his expression held no disgust. That ant he didn’t mind.
"..."
For a mont, Sang Luo forgot what she was going to say, her spirits sinking uncontrollably.
’She really had no reason to be sad. He wasn’t the only man in her life—she’d even had three litters of cubs. It was unreasonable to expect Lan Cang to have remained celibate just for her after all this ti. That would just be shaless.’
’She herself had told him to find another female he fancied and live a happy life. A man as good as him deserved a partner who would love him with all her heart.’
’Sang Luo had warned herself more than once that her relationship with these n was just one of mutual convenience—they were all just using each other. The more emotion she invested, the more likely she was to be the only one hurt in the end.’
’But undeniably, Lan Cang held a very special place in her heart.’
’She couldn’t lie to her heart.’
Lost in her thoughts, Sang Luo didn’t catch what Lan Cang and the other female said to each other. She only saw the female walk away, looking sowhat displeased. Then, Lan Cang’s gaze fell back on her, his tone icy. "Do you have anything else to say?"
"I... I’ve co to seek refuge with the City Lord! Please, take in!" Sang Luo said, thinking fast. "If you don’t believe , City Lord, you can have soone check the surveillance footage. I didn’t take part in that fight. Please, Your Lordship, clear my na!"
Lan Cang shot her a glance. Without a word, he waved a Beastman over and ordered him to retrieve the surveillance footage from the street.
She hadn’t participated in the brawl, true, but as a mber of the Bounty Team, she could be suspected of instigation. According to regulations, she should have been thrown in a cell along with the others.
"Lock up the others," Lan Cang commanded. "You stay." He then turned to leave. "Co with ."
The two Beastn from the Hunting Team being hauled away were utterly dumbfounded. Why did he get special treatnt?
Just because he went up and copped a feel of the City Lord?
Just because he was that shaless?!
Sang Luo shot them a "good luck with that" look, gave a little wave, and hurried to catch up.
Once at the City Lord Mansion, Lan Cang dismissed everyone else, leaving only her in the room.
Lan Cang shrugged off his heavy cloak, casually draping it over a chair. He was wearing dark greenish-brown cargo pants and, on top, just a tight black tank top that outlined his incredible physique. Every inch of muscle across his waist and abs radiated a powerful, explosive sex appeal. When his arms hung at his sides, you could see the faint blue-green veins bulging slightly on his skin.
Simply... devastating.
Sang Luo gulped, her eyes practically glued to him.
’He was even stronger and more imposing than before. He used to have a touch of youthful greenness, but now, all that was left was maturity and a ruthless edge.’
’His skin seed a little darker too—a sexy, alluring honey-tan.’
’The innocent puppy had beco a hardened man.’
Seeing this frail Male Beast staring lecherously at him, Lan Cang’s expression grew even more peculiar. He cleared his throat, pulled out a stool, and gestured for her to sit before taking a seat himself. He cut right to the chase. "How do you know my na?"
He had always used the codena ’Li’ in the North Continent; no one knew his real na.
"Are you a Beastman from the Western Continent?" he asked, testing the waters.
’Sang Luo didn’t know if Lan Cang had a partner now. Revealing her identity at this point wouldn’t be a wise choice; it might disrupt his current life.’
She nodded and humd in agreent.
"How did you find out who I am?" he asked again.
Lan Cang hadn’t yet realized that he was being exceptionally patient today.
Normally, he would have had a strange Male Beast with an unknown background dragged to the dungeons for a brutal interrogation long ago. But from start to finish, the thought had never even crossed his mind. In fact, facing this person, his tone had subconsciously softened considerably.
Any outsider would have thought they were seeing things. The Cold-faced Beast King—who had carved out his own domain in the North Continent in less than a year, striking fear into the hearts of countless Beastn; a man who killed without batting an eye—was now speaking in such a gentle tone.
"I know Lan Ruo." Sang Luo’s mind raced. "I was a student at Yalan Academy. We were in the sa class. I ntioned I wanted to co to the North Continent to make a living, and he told I could look up his older brother, who was here."
"I saw you in the crowd just now. The two of you look a bit alike, so I recognized you."
