Ghost Domain. The dungeons.
A man with long black hair squatted in a corner, his magnificent robes tattered. A gloomy, dangerous aura swirled around him, and his hands and feet were bound by specially-made chains.
Dun had been locked in this wretched place for a full hundred years.
He couldn’t go find Sang Luo, but he could still sense his bloodline, which brought him so solace.
Then one day, the connection to his bloodline vanished!
His child was dead!
Dun’s Divine Soul trembled violently! He nearly went mad!
He had plotted for so long, all to have an heir, and he had thought himself the victor. Instead, he had lost everything.
A tall, slender figure in black appeared in the cell. A long blade materialized in his palm and plunged into Dun’s chest.
Dun didn’t try to dodge. He knew he couldn’t escape. His eyes, full of desolation, fixed on Sha before him.
"You killed my child?"
"It is an honor to beco a sacrifice for my heir."
"...Your child? Impossible!" Dun refused to believe it.
World Souls were naturally sterile. It was impossible for Sha to have an heir!
"Demon Beasts have seven lives. Keeping you around for so long has proven sowhat useful, after all," Sha said with a cold, mocking smile.
Dun’s pupils shrank. He suddenly understood. A surge of fury overwheld him, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
So all his ticulous scheming had just been paving the way for soone else!
Sha had been using him from the very beginning!
SQUELCH!
The long blade pierced through his body and was brutally yanked out.
Dun’s physical body dissolved, transforming into a dense, powerful mass of energy that fell into Sha’s palm.
A satisfied yet crazed smile appeared on Sha’s incomparably handso face.
Heirs of different bloodlines required different kinds of energy to be nurtured.
An heir of the Ghost Clan required Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures that could provide Divine Soul Power.
But an heir of the Ghost Domain’s World Soul needed to feed on the Ghost Clan!
And a pure-blooded Ghost King was the best nourishnt of all!
Several black shadows surged up behind Sha. Upon seeing him kill Dun, the lead shadow could no longer remain calm.
Countless powerful forces lunged forward to kill him.
The dungeon was razed to the ground.
Rivers roared and the heavens and earth tore asunder.
Sha stood suspended in mid-air, looking down on the rebellious Ghost Kings with a blank expression. His long black hair and robes whipped in the wind as a power so imnse it bordered on terrifying swept across the world.
An army of thousands was turned to ash in an instant!
All of their energy flowed into Sha’s body, becoming a part of him.
re ants spawned by the Ghost Domain, daring to resist a World Soul.
How ignorant. How laughable.
Over the past hundred years, Sha had killed quite a few Ghost Kings.
Countless Soul groups appeared in his palm—food he had been raising for his heir for many years.
...
「Qingqiu.」
Just as Sha arrived at the Divine Venerable Mansion, a powerful attack struck, forcing him back half a step.
Sha didn’t retaliate. "Get out of my way. You’re her partner, so I can’t be bothered to kill you."
But Yan refused to yield an inch, his eyes blazing with fury. "You still have the nerve to see her!"
If he could, he would have killed Sha without a second thought to get justice for Luoluo!
Sha’s figure instantly reappeared at the doorway. Yan’s expression turned even uglier. Knowing he couldn’t stop him, he spun around and roared, "For the sake of a child, you were going to kill her—make her a living sacrifice!"
Hearing this, a flicker of panic crossed Sha’s cold, indifferent face. He hurriedly pushed the door open and his gaze fell upon the unconscious woman on the bed. She was emaciated, like a skeleton from a distance, yet her stomach was grotesquely swollen. The strange, horrifying sight made his breath catch in his throat.
If not for her faint breaths and the last wisp of life force that was about to fade completely, no one would have thought she was still alive.
Yan entered the room, fighting back tears. He glared at Sha and said mockingly, "You ca today because you already expected this, didn’t you?"
"This is all your fault, what’s happened to Luoluo!"
"Shut up!" Sha, enraged by the accusation, spun to face Yan. A cold, murderous light glinted in his crimson-green eyes. "As long as I’m here, she won’t die!"
With that, he strode to the bed and swept the woman into his arms. Yan tried to stop him but was blasted several ters back by his power. An invisible Barrier enveloped the two of them, preventing anyone from approaching.
Yan watched with his own eyes as Sha summoned one dense mass of Soul Energy after another, channeling all of it into Sang Luo’s body.
All that imnse power was devoured without a trace the mont it entered her body.
The amount of energy this child required was simply terrifying!
Finally, Sha’s hand transford into a black claw, plunged through his own chest, and tore out his Soul Power, channeling it into Sang Luo’s abdon.
The woman’s withered body began to recover at a visible rate. In the ti it takes for half an incense stick to burn, her body was fully restored, and the power of her Divine Soul was even stronger than before!
Her eyelashes fluttered. She was about to wake up.
Sha gently placed Sang Luo back on the bed, his face pale. He dispelled the Barrier and spoke in a low voice, "I... I never ant to harm her. This should be enough for her to carry the child to term."
Yan rushed to the bedside. Seeing Sang Luo’s improved condition, he realized that in his rage, he had wrongly accused Sha.
Just as he was about to say sothing to ease the tension, Sha’s figure vanished.
"Ugh..."
A weak voice ca from the bed.
Sang Luo was awake.
Yan quickly helped Sang Luo sit up. Seeing her rosy, full cheeks, he pulled her into a tight embrace. "Thank goodness, you’re all right. Otherwise... I truly don’t know what I would have done..."
Sang Luo blinked, confused. "Ayin, I think I had a dream. I dreamt that I was dying."
"It wasn’t real. It was only a dream."
Sang Luo’s body had withered rapidly over just three days. Quan Jin and the others, no matter how frantic they were, could do nothing but search a Secret Realm for any Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures that could nourish her Divine Soul and body. When they received Yan’s ssage, they rushed back at once. Seeing Sang Luo’s body fully restored, they were all overco with the lingering fear of having almost lost her, and the joyous surprise of her recovery!
The Beast Husbands did their best to suppress their emotions.
But Lou Xianyue and the children couldn’t hide theirs at all.
He was about to dissolve into a puddle of tears.
Sang Luo hadn’t even figured out what was going on yet, but she found herself having to comfort him first.
But seeing the reactions of Lou Xianyue and the children, she had a sinking feeling. ’That wasn’t a dream. I really did almost die—I turned into a skeleton!’
And all of this was because of the child in her womb.
Yan had originally intended to hide it from Sang Luo, but under her persistent, gentle coaxing and sharp questioning, he finally revealed the truth, including the secret of this child.
Sang Luo was utterly shocked at first, but she soon pieced together the entire story.
No wonder both Dun and Sha had claid the child in her belly was theirs.
As a World Soul, Sha couldn’t have children, so he had used Dun’s child to continue his own bloodline.
That sche was truly... vicious!
The child she was now carrying was, in truth, Sha’s biological heir.
After waking up this ti, Sang Luo no longer felt any hunger. The child in her womb seed to be sleeping soundly, fully sated. Her pregnancy also advanced far ahead of schedule; within a few months, her belly swelled like a balloon, and her due date rapidly approached.
