Yan walked into the courtyard and saw a woman sleeping soundly in a lounge chair by the entrance. As the cold wind blew, one corner of the blanket clutched in her arms nearly drooped to the ground.
An umbrella lay dropped on the ground, spattered with mud.
Sang Luo felt a chill in her sleep, but then she was gathered into a warm, broad embrace. The pleasant scent of spikenard filled her nostrils. Her eyes fluttered open, and the man’s handso face, re inches away, filled her vision.
Pure and aloof like jade, resembling an immortal banished to the mortal realm, yet his fox-like eyes were born of seductive charm. The contrast between his restraint and his allure created a beauty unmatched in heaven and earth.
Sang Luo dazedly raised a hand to caress his face, his exquisite and ethereal features. "So handso."
Yan’s voice was low and hoarse.
"It was you back then, wasn’t it?"
It was phrased as a question, yet his tone was certain.
Sang Luo smiled. "Didn’t you say you were going to make a little felted fox?"
Yan gazed at her deeply, countless emotions churning in his heart, his voice trembling slightly. "I... I was lying to you..."
Sang Luo didn’t seem to mind at all. She took his large hand and placed it on her round belly, smiling gently.
"Well, do you want one?"
Yan could no longer suppress his surging emotions. He cupped the back of her head, pulled her in, and lowered his own for a deep kiss filled with longing.
He held her waist gently, but his kiss was both tender and fierce. He skillfully parted her lips, just as he had done a thousand tis in his dreams, pulling her into a desperate dance of shared oblivion...
’But this still wasn’t enough...’
’Not enough...’
’He wanted more...’
’He wanted to mark her entire body with his kisses, to cover her in his scent.’
’He wanted to beco one with her, to saturate her very being!’
Yan strode into the room carrying Sang Luo and laid her down on the soft bed.
Her ink-black hair spread in disarray across the bedding, her collar fell open ssily, revealing a slender, snow-white neck and collarbones. Sang Luo’s eyes shone like stars, her gaze brimming with seductive charm.
Yan knelt by the side of the bed. He brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, his gaze full of adoration.
"Your Highness... Luo’er..."
Sang Luo’s gaze was also filled with endless tenderness. She wrapped her arms around his neck, leaned in, and offered him a sweet kiss. "I still owe you a wedding night."
Yan’s breathing beca completely ragged.
After what felt like an eternity, his lips left her swollen ones, trailing down to her neck. He nudged her collar aside with his chin, kissed her collarbone, and then slowly descended to the soft, pale flesh below.
The kisses gradually softened.
His hands moved to her back, unfastening the troubleso clothes.
The door was bolted shut, the bed curtains drawn.
The pitter-patter of rain sounded from outside the window as the sound of panting gradually rose within the room.
The cold wind ravaged everything outside, but it was shut out by the walls. Nothing could disturb the amorous atmosphere in the room, where rising heat lted two entangled figures into one...
A night of wild abandon.
When Sang Luo woke up the next morning, she was in a clean nightgown. She had been so exhausted last night she’d passed out, dead to the world. It was obvious who had changed her clothes.
Yan was sleeping soundly beside her, not yet awake.
Even so, his arm was still wrapped tightly around her waist, his body curved to cocoon her in his embrace.
Sweetness and tenderness filled Sang Luo’s heart. She traced a finger over Yan’s impossibly handso face. ’No matter how desireless a certain fox pretended to be after ten thousand years, he was still the sa little fox who used to climb into her bed at night, seeking affection.’
’Mhm... He hasn’t changed a bit!’
’After holding back for so long, now that he’s found his chance, his stamina is even more terrifying!’
"Luo’er..." Yan had woken up. His deep, dark eyes gazed quietly at Sang Luo, the depths still holding the lingering traces of unsated desire.
"I’ve missed you so much all these years," he said, his voice hoarse and gentle.
He took her hand with his right one and pressed it to his cheek, nuzzling it like a little fox before turning his head to kiss her palm. "...When you left back then, I refused to believe it was real. I thought I was trapped in a nightmare from which I’d never wake."
"But I searched for you for so long and could never find you again. It took several hundred years to erge from that self-deceiving fantasy."
"In the middle of the night, whenever I dread of you dying in my arms, I was tornted. I could only watch helplessly as you left, powerless to stop you... I once thought of ending my own life to be with you, but before you left, you told about that legend..."
"What if the legend is real?"
The words he had buried in his heart finally ca pouring out.
"I held on to that sliver of unrealistic hope, day and night, through the passing of spring, sumr, autumn, and winter."
"I carved the years, one by one, onto the wall."
"But a hundred thousand years passed, and you didn’t appear. I couldn’t deceive myself any longer."
Sang Luo’s heart ached with a tender sorrow. She leaned in and kissed the corner of his lips. "I’m sorry, Qi."
Yan looked into her eyes and shook his head with a smile. "So Your Highness didn’t lie to after all. You don’t need to apologize. It’s just... so much ti has passed. I was starting to forget what you looked like. I failed to recognize you... It’s my fault."
"But even if you didn’t recognize , you still did so much for . Whether you were Ji Wan or Sang Luo, you have nothing to feel guilty about."
Sang Luo reached out a slender, jade-like finger and pressed it against his handso, thin lips. "Let’s not talk about the past anymore. Whether it was happy, sad, or full of regret, it’s all over. From now on, just stay by my side and the baby’s."
She took his hand and placed it on her abdon. "It’s almost ti."
Yan’s breath hitched in nervousness. Despite having lived for so long, this was his first ti becoming a father, and he had no experience whatsoever.
He was happy, excited, and completely at a loss.
"Is the baby okay? Last night, I... I’m sorry, Luo’er, I couldn’t hold back." Yan kissed her cheek guiltily, then quickly dressed and sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her into his lap. "Let check on you, and I’ll prepare a bowl of fetus-preserving dicine."
"Don’t worry. Fei Yuan said this baby is very healthy. Nothing will happen~"
Hearing this only made Yan feel more ashad. "Your pregnancy has been so hard, and I wasn’t by your side for so long. I’m truly a negligent partner and father beast."
"It couldn’t be helped. It’s not your fault," Sang Luo soothed him. "It’s a good thing you ca back before the baby was born. Otherwise, Fei Yuan was thinking of having the child call him ’daddy’~"
A vein throbbed on Yan’s forehead. "In his dreams!"
Sang Luo couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"So I can’t poach the kid... you’re saying a guy can’t even dream?" A casual, lazy voice drifted from outside the door.
Fei Yuan swaggered in through the door. Seeing the two of them with their ssy robes, looking like they had just woken up, and sensing the faint, lingering amorous scent in the air, his expression changed slightly. "No wonder Little Luoruo wouldn’t let stay with her. So you were spirited away by this old fox!"
For the sake of Fei Yuan having cared for her during her pregnancy, Yan couldn’t be bothered to argue with his rebellious disciple. "What are you doing here?"
He sounded quite annoyed at having their intimate mont interrupted.
"Little Luoruo has been staying with you for four or five days. I was a little worried, so I ca to check on her."
"I’m back now. I will take care of Luoluo and the child. She will stay here with until she gives birth and finishes her postpartum confinent."
"No way! One month here, one month at my Phoenix Palace." Fei Yuan would go crazy if he couldn’t see Sang Luo for that long!
Just as the two were about to argue over it, Sang Luo suddenly felt a sharp pain in her abdon and cried out.
"It hurts so much!"
Yan quickly grabbed her wrist, his expression changing instantly. "She’s going into labor."
