"It's ti to head back, and even if we wanted to stay, the Star State wouldn't want us to."

Chen Gu had taken six hours and thirty-five minutes to travel from the starry sky outside Sol Star to a military base just outside Dilay City, aboard a large military transport vehicle. During that ti, the moss in the city had expanded a full three ters outward!

The warriors at the front watched the moss crawl forward like insects, "devouring" patches of the earth, and as the moss thickened, they couldn't help feeling a surge of fear.

They didn't even know what exactly they were up against.

Chen Gu had already suited up in his cha. He made a few movents, and the cha emitted a crisp, tallic sound.

"Very nice, the Star State is always at the leading edge of military technology. In this era, they're the only ones who can compete with the Confederation in this field," Captain Chen gave a fair assessnt.

The Empire had fallen behind over a thousand years ago. As for the Freedom Alliance, they had almost no presence in this respect; their mainstream equipnt technology was about forty percent purchased from the Star State, forty percent from the Confederation, and the remaining twenty percent from the Empire.

At the very front of the team was Rosfield, a grandmaster of the Eighth Energy Level, and also the only person on the entire team not wearing cha.

According to him, it was a "hindrance."

When Chen Gu first saw him at the spaceport, he was dressed in an exceptionally exquisite hand-tailored wool suit. So parts were hand-embroidered with silver threads, and accessories such as buttons and tie pins were made of gold and gemstones.

Upon arriving here, he changed into a "special battle robe"—Chen Gu noticed it was still a black suit, but tailored to fit his body more closely, exquisitely handcrafted to ensure it wouldn't restrict movent, effectively providing the comfort of a tracksuit.

Then... he added a dark red cape.

Modric stood side by side with Chen Gu, whispering, "The 'Slumbering Ancient Race' are said to have this quirk: the higher their Energy Level, the more expensive their clothes, the shinier their hair."

Chen Gu felt amused and quite curious, asking in a low voice, "I've heard that sotis these professionals need to drink fresh blood to prevent mutation?"

Modric replied, "Don't ever bring this up in front of this one—they prefer the blood of strong and dangerous species, believing it can enhance their powers. If you have so super-life fresh blood, congratulations, you could beco great friends with His Lordship."

Chen Gu nodded. Then, he suddenly saw Rosfield's slightly pointed ears twitch. He jumped, fearing his hushed gossip had been discovered. However, Rosfield remained still, his neck eerily rotating 180 degrees to face Modric. "Deploy the 'Celestial Rank No. 2-13' item to clear a path for us," he said, his voice even.

Chen Gu was fine, but he clearly felt a stir among the other team mbers behind him. That was way too bizarre! Does he normally talk to people and scare them like that?

Modric hesitated. "Your Excellency, we are only at the fringe right now. Might revealing the abilities of the Celestial Rank item prematurely be ill-advised?"

Rosfield spoke indifferently, "If we can use the capabilities of the Celestial Rank item to safely and effortlessly reach directly under the nest, why hide it and not use it?

"Besides, rember, in this operation, the greatest ace is myself, not so inanimate item!"

Chen Gu chuckled. Tilting his head in thought, he found himself agreeing. His Lordship... actually makes a lot of sense.

Modric had no choice. After all, Rosfield was a whole Energy Level higher, so what he said, went. Modric stepped forward, approaching the edge of the moss.

At the outermost part, these substances looked no different from normal "moss," growing sparsely, except they grew at an alarmingly fast rate.

A few ters away, the moss had reached a thickness of half a ter! It looked like a thick layer of green flesh.

Facing the interior of Dilay City, Modric summoned a mysterious force within him.

Then Chen Gu saw the moss in front of Modric quickly wither and yellow. This hybrid of plant and animal, once it lost its moisture and the half-ter thick layer completely died, was reduced to a re few centiters in thickness.

The area of withering kept expanding, rapidly reaching a width of twenty ters, and then instead of extending sideways, it sped towards the interior of the city.

During this process, Rosfield quietly moved forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with Modric, on guard for any potential counterattacks.

The twenty-ter-wide path of withering moss, seen from above, resembled a giant snake slithering towards the city center.

But the moss remained unresponsive, not launching any "counterattacks."

After the path of decay extended for five kiloters, Rosfield commanded, "Move out!"

The entire team imdiately advanced.

Chen Gu simply left all his team mbers back at the base. Since Rosfield looked down on them, he let them rest; they wouldn't miss any of their pay anyway.

The rest of the team, all from the Star State military, totaled sixteen people. They maintained the strict discipline of soldiers, lifting their weapons into a combat formation and advancing at the command.

The three largest Earth War Gods were positioned at the rear, towering over their companions and providing fire support.
