There was clear disgust in Amira’s eyes, but she didn’t flinch or show any fear. Instead, she raised her hand and pointed without taking her eyes off of him.
"Lilah," Amira said calmly.
Lilah cracked her neck, already grinning. "Finally."
Amira said, "Take care of these parasites outside," as she moved slowly and deliberately in the direction of the gate. "I’ll handle what’s inside."
The air tensed. Everyone froze, stunned by her boldness. The mansion guards and the blonde-haired man’s lackeys exchanged nervous glances as their bravado began to waver.
Then Amira’s voice cut through the tension like a blade. "Oh—and him," she gestured lazily toward the blonde man. "And the two idiots standing behind him? They’re awakened." She paused for effect, her smirk sharp. "The rest? Just garbage. Actually, scratch that—everyone here is garbage."
Her squad erupted into low, knowing laughter.
Lilah stepped forward, flexing her fingers like a predator warming up. "Nice will finally have so fun." She glanced at Amira. "Do I have permission to break a few bones—even if they surrender?"
Amira’s gaze didn’t waver. "The seven who ca out? Do whatever you want with them. But if anyone else surrenders, bind them."
Lilah nodded, her grin feral. "Understood."
"You actually believe you can’t be hurt? Fine, you’ve chosen death!" he spat. "Take the won—kill the n!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, her squad moved. It wasn’t a sprint—it was a blur.
The blonde man’s mouth hung open as chaos erupted around him and his once smug expression was now replaced with sheer disbelief as Amira’s team moved like shadows, dismantling his forces with terrifying ease.
The guards barely had ti to raise their weapons before Phoenix Unit closed the distance with terrifying speed. In the blink of an eye, rifles clattered to the ground, useless.
So guards further back managed to fire shots, but her team dodged with an almost unnatural, as though they could see the bullets paths before they were fired.
Blades flashed, slicing through gun barrels like butter. The sound of tal snapping filled the air, followed by the dull thuds of bodies hitting the ground.
Lilah delivered a devastating punch to one of the blonde man’s n, sending him skidding across the ground with a bone-cracking impact. The remaining guards froze, their faces pale, their legs trembling.
"They’re... awakened?" the blonde man stamred, eyes wide as saucers.
He wasn’t entirely wrong, but the truth was far worse—many of Amira’s team weren’t fully awakened, but their bodies had been tempered by rigorous training while conditioning their bodies with spiritual energy and mutated beast sustenance. Their movents weren’t just fast—they were instinctive, honed through endless missions.
Lilah danced through three n like a storm, disarming and incapacitating them with brutal efficiency.
She had already dispatched three of the n who ca with the blonde thug. Now, only the blonde man and his two closest lackeys stood there, paralyzed like statues. Their minds refused to comprehend what they were seeing.
Officer Ramirez, once a proud police officer, still had his gun raised but was shaking so hard that he couldn’t aim. The realization of what he’d aligned himself with—the horror of betraying his duty—had turned his resolve to ash.
Eddie strode up to him without hesitation. His fist connected with Ramirez’s face in rapid succession—a precise flurry of punches that left the man dazed. The gun slipped from his hand, clattering to the ground as Eddie pressed him down with a knee to his back.
"You should’ve stayed loyal to your oath," Eddie growled as he tied Ramirez’s hands behind his back. "You had a choice. You chose wrong." Ramirez groaned but didn’t resist.
anwhile, Amira reached the gate as it groaned open, her eyes calm but deadly as she stepped through. Lilah stayed behind, standing with a grin as she watched the three remaining awakened n, waiting for them to snap out of their shock.
But soon she let out an exaggerated sigh and turned to her team. "Alright, you heard the captain. Once they’re tied up, drag these losers to one spot and keep an eye on them."
Her team chuckled, already working to secure the tied-up guards and disard gang mbers. So went to help Liam escort the freed girls to safety, while others spread out to secure the courtyard leading to the house.
While Lilah’s lips curled into a feral grin as the n exchanged panicked glances. They thought they could run. She could see it in their eyes—the fight-or-flight response kicking in.
Her voice cut through the tense silence like a blade. "Done playing statue? Co on. Make your move."
For a mont, the three n hesitated. Then the blonde man, desperation flashing in his eyes, dropped his gun. The sound of tal clattering against the gravel echoed in the air.
Lilah raised an eyebrow. "Really? Giving up already?"
But before anyone could relax, the blonde man’s body crackled with electricity. Sparks danced along his arms, forming a loose web-like armor that barely covered his muscular form.
His two comrades followed suit—the one on the left encased his arms in a thick layer of ice, while the other engulfed his blade in flas. The fiery weapon hissed as heat radiated from it.
Lilah sighed dramatically. "Oh wow, elental basics. I’m so impressed." She rolled her shoulders and let out a mock yawn. "Is that all you’ve got?"
The man with the ice-covered fists charged first, his speed enough to catch most normal people off guard. But she wasn’t most people. She waited until he was close enough, then sidestepped at the last second, twisting her body with graceful precision. Her elbow slamd into the joint of his arm.
A loud crack followed.
The man scread, clutching his arm in pain, but Lilah didn’t stop. She spun on her heel, ready to deliver a follow-up strike—until the man with the flaming blade lunged in from her left. His weapon ca down in a blazing arc ant to cleave her in half.
Her blade t his mid-swing with a deafening clang. Sparks flew as tal t tal. She locked eyes with him, her grin widening. "Close, but not close enough."
She pushed him back and was about to deliver a devastating kick when sothing hit her from behind. Pain shot up her spine as she stumbled forward, nearly losing her balance. The blonde man had landed a punch, his electrified fist leaving scorch marks on her tactical suit. She could feel the burn spreading across her back.
Her team mbers imdiately tensed, ready to jump in, but Lilah raised a hand. "Stand down! This one’s mine."
