Outside the mutton restaurant!

Xiao Chen and his two friends stood at the entrance, watching Su Chen drive away.

"Brother Cheen, what’s the deal with that kid? Is he so ’golden goose’ the Xiao family found?" Jiangyang pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and offered one to Xiao Chen and Chen Yao.

Xiao Chen took the cigarette, stuck it in his mouth, and lit it. He watched the car’s taillights disappear into the distance before shaking his head. "No. This ti, we’re genuinely making a friend. And don’t you two get any funny ideas."

As he said this, he shot them a look, as if warning them.

Jiangyang and Chen Yao shared an awkward laugh. ’We know our own business,’ they thought. They’d definitely had so ideas when they saw Su Chen’s Rolls-Royce Cullinan, but Xiao Chen’s words had just shattered them.

Still, they were curious about Su Chen. "Brother Cheen, where did this guy co from?" they asked. "From the looks of it, he doesn’t seem to be from our circle."

"Hmm... I had him investigated before, but nothing useful ca up. The only thing we know for sure is that he’s rich." After a mont of thought, Xiao Chen added with emphasis, "Extrely rich."

"Extrely rich?"

For Xiao Chen to say those words ant Su Chen wasn’t like the other rich kids they knew—the kind who did nothing but drive supercars, party at clubs, and chase young models.

Xiao Chen exhaled a puff of smoke before continuing, "You guys know about my siheyuan in Shichahai, right? He was the one who bought it."

"I even subtly hinted to him that buying the house might lead to so trouble down the line, but all I saw in his eyes was calmness. Not the slightest ripple. It was as if what I said was completely trivial to him."

"Besides... befriending him was also the Old Master’s idea." Xiao Chen’s heart ached when he thought about the gifts given to Su Chen. He knew he might not even be able to get those things for himself at ho.

"What?!"

Hearing this, Jiangyang and Chen Yao were stunned. For that Old Master to... For him to give such an order, it seed this Su Chen had so deep, hidden secrets!

A strange glint flickered in Jiangyang and Chen Yao’s eyes as they seed to be calculating sothing.

Xiao Chen tossed the burnt-out cigarette butt to the ground and stomped it out with the tip of his shoe. "Get on good terms with Su Chen. If he ever needs your help with anything, make sure you lend a hand. It’ll be good for you."

With that, he got into his own car, leaving the two of them lost in thought.

By the ti they snapped out of it, Xiao Chen’s car had already rged into traffic.

The two looked at each other, neither speaking first. Finally, Chen Yao couldn’t hold back anymore. "What do you make of what Brother Cheen said?"

"What’s there to think about? We do as Brother Cheen says, of course..."

"Sigh. No wonder the Xiao family has climbed so high. They know how to invest early."

The two sighed deeply, then got into their own cars and disappeared into the night.

-----------------

"What?"

"You’re in the Imperial Capital?"

"You’ve already left the airport and are coming to find !"

"Alright, alright. I’ll send you the address. Co on over yourself."

Su Chen hung up and imdiately composed and sent a text ssage.

"OW~"

Looking down at the little orange cat in his arms, Su Chen smiled and gave it a couple of pets.

After a few days of being fed, the little orange cat had transford. Not only was its spirit better, but its small fra had also grown a size larger.

It had also beco very docile and particularly clingy, especially with Su Chen... it would run up to him and ow at the slightest opportunity.

For this reason, Su Chen had even given it a special na: "Yuanbao"!

After petting Yuanbao for a while, Su Chen waved a hand behind him. "Old Jiang, soone’s coming over later. Get so fruit and things ready. Oh, and no need to brew tea; just get so juice."

"Yes, sir. Shall I prepare for dinner?" Jiang Hui was dressed in his familiar dark tailcoat butler uniform.

Su Chen’s fingers tapped lightly on the table, creating a rhythmic DONG DONG sound.

"Go ahead and prepare. Have Aunt Tang slice up the mutton I brought back earlier. We’ll have instant-boiled mutton for dinner tonight."

Aunt Tang was the housekeeper Su Chen had in Shanghai. A few days ago, with no one to cook at ho and Su Chen not wanting to eat out, he had simply flown Aunt Tang over to the Imperial Capital.

Jiang Hui nodded and headed towards the front courtyard. The kitchen and other facilities were located in the reverse-facing rooms of the front courtyard.

...

"DING DONG~"

Just as Jiang Hui was helping Aunt Tang arrange the mutton slices, the doorbell rang.

He wiped his hands with a towel, straightened his clothes, and walked briskly towards the main gate.

He could faintly hear a conversation from outside: "TSK TSK TSK, you filthy rich bastards are all the sa. The mont you get to the Imperial Capital, you snap up a three-courtyard siheyuan. That’s at least a few hundred million, what a fucking life!"

"Ahem, it’s not like you’re any better. Aren’t you constantly buying luxury cars and mansions? I rember your mansion in the Imperial Capital is also worth over a hundred million!"

"How can that be the sa? Mine are investnts. The places I buy are all carefully selected..."

"It seems... Young Master Su’s siheyuan will also appreciate in value, won’t it?"

This remark brought the conversation to an abrupt halt. Seeing that no one was talking anymore, Jiang Hui opened the main gate.

Three figures appeared before Jiang Hui.

"Young Master Sicong, so it was you who ca to the Imperial Capital~"

Jiang Hui recognized Sicong. After all, he had served the two of them for several days back in Xiangjiang.

Seeing who opened the door, Sicong was also surprised. "It’s you! I didn’t expect Young Master Su to bring you along with him."

"I am grateful for the master’s favor. Young Master Sicong, please co in." Jiang Hui made a welcoming gesture.

Sicong nodded and led the other two inside.

They had thought it was just an ordinary siheyuan, but when Sicong and his companions passed through the Hanging Flower Gate, they were stunned by the sight before them...

In their minds, the central courtyard of a siheyuan was just a garden, a place to rest and drink tea. But what they saw was a miniature Suzhou-style garden.

"Holy shit, this is fucking aweso!" Sicong couldn’t help but curse.

"Now this is what I call enjoying life~"

Su Chen also saw Sicong and his group. What surprised him were the two people following Sicong—it was Deng Chao and Chen He, whom he had dined with back in Shanghai. He hadn’t expected the three of them to co together.

"What are you three still doing standing there gawking?" Seeing them still looking around, Su Chen couldn’t help but call out.

Hearing him, Sicong and the others imdiately walked over.

"Old Su!"

"Young Master Su!"

"Mr. Su!"

Three people, three different forms of address. The one who called him Old Su was naturally Sicong. After their trip to Xiangjiang, their relationship had deepened considerably, and their way of addressing each other had beco much more familiar.

As for Young Master Su and Mr. Su, those were Chen He and Deng Chao.

"Sit wherever, we’re all friends here." Su Chen said with a wave of his hand.

Sicong didn’t stand on ceremony, sitting right down next to Su Chen as if he were in his own ho.

Deng Chao and Chen He also sat down at the table.

"How did the three of you end up together?" Su Chen asked, looking at them curiously.

"Chen He and Deng Chao were already in the Imperial Capital filming a variety show. They happened to have the last two days off, so when I landed, I gave He a call, and we decided to co over together to freeload!" Sicong said while grabbing a piece of fruit from the table and eating it.

"Mr. Su, sorry to impose..." Deng Chao said, a bit embarrassed, as he had co uninvited.

Su Chen smiled and waved his hand. "Not at all. It’s no imposition."

"Last ti you treated to a al in Shanghai, you said to look you up for fun when I ca to the Imperial Capital!"

Hearing this, Deng Chao nodded happily, feeling a little thrilled. He didn’t expect Su Chen to rember sothing from so long ago.

"The location of this siheyuan of yours is amazing. I only realized when we were coming here that the area is surrounded by princely manors and forr residences of famous people. Anyone who can live here is no simple character!"

Sicong blinked, looking at Su Chen, waiting for him to spill the beans...

But to his surprise, Su Chen gave no reaction at all. He just smiled, petting his cat and eating fruit, nodding along in agreent.

Sicong finally couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer and blurted out the question on his mind, "So tell , what’s the story with this siheyuan? How did you manage to get it?"

Su Chen just smiled and shook his head. "So things are better left unknown. It wouldn’t be good for you or for them."

Hearing this, Sicong didn’t have much of a reaction, but Deng Chao and Chen He, who were sitting beside him, felt their hearts tighten. They knew this must involve so hidden, sensitive matters.

Although he was extrely curious, Sicong was sensible enough not to press the issue.

’Although our Old Wang family is indeed powerful, we still fall a bit short compared to the powers in the Imperial Capital,’ he thought.

Su Chen’s brow twitched slightly. A thought occurred to him, and the corners of his mouth curled up. "Want a tour of my siheyuan?"

"Of course!" the three said in unison.

Seeing this, Su Chen smiled, placed Yuanbao on the chair, and stood up to lead them on a tour of the siheyuan.

The front, middle, and back courtyards—the tour took only about ten minutes. Only the view from the small two-story building in the rear courtyard made them sigh in appreciation for a mont.

Sicong even complained that this siheyuan wasn’t much different from an ordinary one, apart from the extra garden.

"Heh heh~ I’ll take you to see sothing really fun!" A mysterious smile appeared on Su Chen’s face.

"Huh?" Sicong and the other two were completely confused. They had already toured the entire siheyuan and hadn’t seen anything particularly fun.

Under their shocked gazes, Su Chen pressed a button, and an elevator appeared.

Seeing the elevator, which looked like a hidden chanism, the three of them stood with their mouths agape, as if their understanding of the world had been shattered.

"You... you... installed an elevator in a siheyuan?!"

Even the worldly Sicong had never seen anything like it.

Su Chen tilted his head, motioning for them to get in the elevator.

The three stepped into the elevator with a sense of apprehension. They all understood there was a basent level, but they had no idea what it would be like.

The mont the elevator doors opened, none of them could believe their eyes.

It was like coming ho.

Without even waiting for Su Chen to say anything, Sicong and the others quickly stepped out of the elevator to have a look.

Su Chen was quite satisfied with their reaction. After all, he had been just like them when he first saw it.

He walked over to the bar, sat down, and poured himself a glass of low-alcohol fruit wine to savor.
