From Villain to Virtual Sweetheart: The Fake Heir's Grand Scheme(BL) Chapter 88: Leo Knows?! Send Help!
Micah froze as if soone had hit the pause button on ti. He realised he had acted too excitedly, too loudly, and too much like himself. He had broken his character setting, the shy, silent girl fan!
Who was he to question Leo? He was just tagging along with Big sister.
Worse, he had co dangerously close to dropping the voice, his voice, not the sweet, slightly airy, feminine tone he had cultivated to maintain his disguise.
But he was really pissed off to see that he had gone through all that trouble to make Leo free from that scandal and the manager’s clutch only to realise Leo was stuck with that company and that horrible contract. When it said twenty years, of course, the breach of that would also be enormous!
He swallowed hard and hastily lowered himself back onto the couch, smoothing out his loose pants.
"Sorry..." he muttered, eyes darting sideways.
He could feel Jacklin’s gaze on him, but fortunately, she didn’t question him.
Instead, she cleared her throat with an elegant cough and turned to Leo. "How much money do you need?!"
Leo blinked, then he shook his head. "I am not asking about money. That pit will never be filled."
Jacklin turned serious. "Then what?"
Leo shifted in his seat, and the casual air disappeared. His eyes darkened with resolve.
"I need your help in another way. I want to expose Twilight Entertainnt and make them go bankrupt."
Micah tilted his head and thought to himself, Okay, now we are talking.
Jacklin didn’t imdiately respond. She took a deep breath. "That would be an impossible feat. The financiers backing them are sharks. Even if you use public opinion to put pressure on them, they will prop it back up with money and fabricate a scandal about you." Jacklin disagreed.
Leo gave a small smile. "I know. My goal is to have a private deal with them. I will bring forward enough dirt to scare them, then offer a deal. I’ll drop the case in exchange for my freedom. They let out of contract quietly. No headlines. No fuss."
Jacklin fell into thought. "Have you considered the consequences? They will never let you set foot in the entertainnt industry."
Leo paused and looked at his hands. "I was planning to open my own entertainnt company. But with the way things are going, I am willing to sign with another powerful company to be safe."
Micah’s mouth opened slightly in surprise. Could soone tell him what exactly had happened in the novel? How could he have his own multidia company when he t Darcy?! If what he had seen had really happened, that manager was so kind of hidden boss or sothing to let Leo pull that off?!
"How reliable is your evidence?!"
Micah snapped his head, hearing Big sister’s question.
Leo lifted his chin, confidence radiating through his eyes. "Don’t worry. I wasn’t sitting around idly these past few years. Every ti they played dirty with soone else, I paid attention and gathered evidence."
Micah stared at Leo; the man’s expression turned serious. One with fire in it, too. Like soone who had experienced the lowest part of life and realised there was nothing to lose anymore.
"Fine. I’ll run a few things by so people. I’ll let you know what they say. Good thinking that you didn’t bring any of this up over the phone." Jacklin said. "Anyway, these days even whispering in the wrong hallway can get you bugged."
Micah felt a chill run down his spine. Yeah, good thing his involvent had been buried deep.
Leo nodded with a smile. "Thanks. I wouldn’t have co forward this soon, but they tried to play dirty with this ti."
Leo didn’t ntion the full story. Micah could understand why. Fewer people knew it, the better.
When their business talk finished, Micah finally had the chance to probe. "Umm... can I ask you sothing?"
Leo turned his attention to him with a polite nod. "Sure."
Micah fiddled with the hem of his sleeve, pretending to look casual. "How did you avoid their planned scandal?! They said you were drunk..."
Leo’s gaze lingered on him for a mont. Then, surprisingly, his expression softened. Beca gentler, grateful even.
"Soone helped ."
Micah tensed. "Soone?!"
Leo nodded. "Before you arrived, my brother called. He said they found them. The person who helped. I am going to et them today... and thank them properly."
Micah’s body froze like a block of ice sculpture. Ha?!! What?! Who? Who did Leo say had been found?!
His heart slamd against his ribs like a panic alarm. His breath caught. Every muscle in his body went stiff.
Found who?!
His mind raced. There was no way. He had checked everything, every CCTV, every corner. He had been so careful.
And yet, the way Leo talked confidently about it told Micah he wasn’t bluffing. He had that look. He was sure!
Jacklin seed unaware that Micah was freaking out internally, grinned, and said, "Well, we fans are all really grateful to them. I hope you treat them to sothing good. Maybe start with a fruit basket and move up to a yacht."
Leo chuckled. "Whoever it was...I owe them more than I can say. If he asked, I would give him anything."
"Even yourself?" Jacklin teased with a raised brow.
"I wish!" Leo replied with a smirk.
Micah felt goosebumps covering his body. Pardon?! What was Leo even saying? Who wanted him?!
But that wasn’t the issue right now. Panic twisted in his chest.
He had to leave! What if they really did track him down? What if they showed up at Ramsy’s estate?
Micah glanced at Leo again, tempted to press for more information. But he hesitated. If he pushed too hard, Leo might beco suspicious. Instead, he turned toward Big sister, eyes pleading, silently giving her an SOS look.
Jacklin caught the strange look and paused. "Well, we should get going," she said and stood.
Micah shot to his feet in a flash, ready to leave.
Leo walked them to the door, still smiling, "Thanks again."
"No problem," Jacklin said breezily, and the two stepped out of Leo’s place.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Jacklin gave Micah a curious glance. "Okay. What’s going on?? You went pale all of a sudden. Wait! Don’t tell ... Is it that ti of month? Do you need so pads or sothing?!"
Micah stared at Big sister blankly. He could hear every word, but he couldn’t comprehend what it ant. His mind was on all the leaving and checking if he was exposed.
It took Micah a good amount of ti to realise what she had said.
Micah’s face turned bright red. Ahhh...
He turned his head away, too embarrassed to look at Big sister.
Jacklin, seeing his reaction, snorted with laughter. "Oh, co on! Why are you so shy? We are all girls here... It’s totally normal to..."
Micah jumped into her words. "No... no... It’s not that."
"Then what? Is it your hand? I noticed the bandages earlier. What happened??"
Micah’s day was so hectic that he had already forgotten his burned hand and bruised stomach. Not to ntion, right now, panic had filled every fibre of his body.
He blinked, montarily confused, before glancing down. Right. "I burned it while cooking..."
His words weren’t finished when Big sister interrupted them.
"Wow! You cook?!"
Micah paused. Well, he couldn’t say it was because he had distracted Darcy and got himself burned instead. "Yes," he nodded, thinking a bit, misunderstanding wouldn’t harm him. And maybe this woman would let him go.
Jacklin’s eyes sparkled, seeing his affirmative nod.
Her little uncle was way too lucky! Asena could even cook! Honestly, Jacklin felt that if the two ended up married, it was Asena who would take the short end of the stick!
Her little uncle might have the face and the fortune, but personality-wise, he was stiff as a statue. Asena was a total gem!
