From Villain to Virtual Sweetheart: The Fake Heir's Grand Scheme(BL) Chapter 758: The Orange Distribution Was Not Fair
Micah, clearly dissatisfied with the lack of response from Ilyas, turned his attention toward Darcy. Without any subtlety, he nudged him sharply with his elbow.
"Say sothing," Micah muttered under his breath, his teeth clenched just enough to keep his voice from carrying too far. "You’re the one who said you’d take care of him."
Darcy exhaled slowly, the faintest hint of weariness passing through his expression before it disappeared just as quickly.
"I have already arranged for Aria to co," he said. "She will stay with him while I take care of a few things."
Micah studied him for a brief mont before nodding, his stance relaxing slightly. "That is good," he said, turning back toward Ilyas. His tone softened noticeably as he reached out to pat Ilyas’s shoulder in a reassuring manner. "Aria is wonderful company. You will not feel uncomfortable with her around."
As though summoned by the re ntion of her na, a knock sounded at the door.
The timing was so precise that Micah could not help but glance toward it with mild amusent before calling out.
"Co in."
The door opened, and Aria stepped inside with her usual bright and lively presence, her energy imdiately altering the atmosphere of the room.
"Good morning, everyone!" she greeted cheerfully.
However, she was not alone. Standing just behind her was Dean, whose expression stood in stark contrast to her enthusiasm. His brows were slightly furrowed, and there was an unmistakable displeasure written across his face.
Micah greeted Aria warmly before shifting his attention toward Dean, his lips curving into a faintly teasing smile.
"And what’s with that sour expression?" Micah asked, raising one eyebrow in mild curiosity. "What, not happy to see your uncle’s partner?"
Dean’s gaze flicked toward Darcy almost imdiately, the displeasure in his eyes sharpening slightly. "Of course not," he replied. "I was just wondering why so promises are made so easily... and forgotten just as fast."
Micah’s interest was piqued instantly. He leaned closer to Dean, lowering his voice as though sharing a secret. "Were you on a date?" he asked, partially shielding his mouth with his hand.
Dean’s eyes widened in imdiate alarm, his reaction far more revealing than any verbal response could have been.
Micah grinned and gave him a playful wink. "Relax," he said lightly. "I’m rooting for you."
Dean let out an awkward sound before scratching the back of his head, clearly unsure of how to respond to such blatant teasing.
Satisfied with the reaction, Micah straightened and stepped back.
"Well then," he said, glancing briefly toward Ilyas, "I’ll leave him in your care."
With that, he offered a casual farewell and turned to leave, his departure as swift as his arrival had been.
Aria quickly moved to engage Ilyas in conversation, her cheerful deanour easing so of the lingering tension in the room. anwhile, Darcy slipped out quietly, his exit going largely unnoticed amidst the shift in attention.
Several hours passed before Darcy returned. This ti, he carried a small bag with him. Without saying anything, he approached Ilyas and extended it toward him.
"Here," he said simply. "Your phone was destroyed. So I replaced it."
Ilyas looked at the bag with visible surprise before accepting it. "Thank you," he said, his voice sincere.
"I also arranged for a new number," Darcy added. "I figured you wouldn’t want to keep your old number."
Ilyas nodded as he opened the bag, revealing a newly released mobile device inside. The pristine condition of the device stood in stark contrast to the ordeal he had recently endured.
Darcy’s gaze lingered on him briefly, though it did not remain on his face. Instead, it drifted, almost involuntarily, toward the back of Ilyas’s neck. The mont stretched for just a fraction too long. Then Darcy looked away.
"I spoke with Micah," he continued, his tone returning to its usual neutrality. "You may stay at his apartnt for the ti being. I live one floor below."
Ilyas shook his head imdiately. "No," he said, his voice firm despite its softness. "I have already imposed far more than I should have. I can’t keep troubling all of you."
Before Darcy could respond, Aria interjected. She had been quietly peeling an orange, and now she handed one half to Ilyas and the other to Darcy.
"I believe this arrangent makes perfect sense," she said calmly. "The security there is excellent, and it is only temporary. If you prefer, you could also stay at the Ramsy residence."
That got an imdiate reaction. Ilyas shook his head even more vigorously than before.
There was no way he was stepping into the Ramsy residence. The very thought alone was enough to make him feel overwheld by pressure.
anwhile, Dean, who had been observing the exchange, glanced down at his empty hands before directing a rather pointed look toward both Ilyas and Darcy.
A flicker of irritation crossed his face. Why was Aria attending to them so naturally while completely overlooking him? Did that an she favoured them more? The thought clearly did not sit well with him.
Aria, however, remained entirely unaware of his internal grievance. "The important thing is," she continued, "that you cannot stay at a hotel or return to your own residence. This is only for a few days, until your brother returns. After that, you can decide what to do."
Ilyas pressed his lips together, clearly reluctant. Yet after a mont of silence, he gave a small nod.
At the very least, there was one consolation. He would not be living under the sa roof as Darcy.
*******
Elsewhere, Micah had already returned to the Ramsy residence.
Without hesitation, he made his way directly to Zhou Ruyan’s workshop, his movents purposeful and uncharacteristically focused.
Albert Ramsy was already present, and his sharp gaze settled on Micah the mont he entered. "So this is the urgent matter you ntioned?" Albert asked, his tone carrying both curiosity and mild scrutiny.
Micah did not respond imdiately.
He had already begun working, his attention entirely absorbed in the delicate task before him. Using the fine tools that had once belonged to his late grandmother, he carefully adjusted the size of two intricately designed rings.
"I thought I had more ti," Micah muttered, his voice low as he concentrated. "But I got caught up with other things and lost track of it."
These rings were not a sudden decision. He had designed them long before, back during the winter season, with the intention of giving them to Clyde.
However, circumstances had intervened again and again, delaying the mont. Until now.
Albert observed him in silence, the sternness in his expression gradually softening.
It was not difficult to see. Micah cared deeply for Clyde. And the feeling, clearly, was mutual.
Of all his grandchildren, Micah had always been the most unpredictable, the most troubleso. And yet, he was the first to reach this point.
The realisation brought with it an unexpected sense of relief.
With everything that had happened, Albert had already co to terms with the future of the Ramsy Empire. Darcy and Willow possessed the qualities necessary to lead, while Jacob, though capable, lacked the decisiveness required for such responsibility.
And now, seeing Micah preparing to settle down... It felt as though a long-standing burden had finally been lifted.
Micah eventually finished his work and carefully packed the rings away. He returned to the penthouse shortly afterwards, gathering his belongings with quiet determination.
After his earlier conversation with Darcy, he had reached a decision. There was one last thing he couldn’t put off anymore.
He took out his phone and sent a ssage.
RogueOverLord: Let’s go on a trip. The destination... is a secret.
The reply ca almost imdiately.
RiverBridge: Another one of your sches? Very well. As long as I am with you, I am content.
A faint smile touched Micah’s lips.
RogueOverLord: Super.
However, the lightness in his expression did not last. As he lowered his phone, his gaze grew serious. Because this journey was not rely for leisure. It was sothing far more significant. Sothing that required courage from both of them.
And sothing they would have to face... together.
