Inside the bedroom, tension simred between them. Slowly, cautiously, Clyde raised his own hand and rested it over Micah’s wrist, pulling it away from his mouth. "Curse?" His brows knitted together as he searched Micah’s trembling eyes. "You think I am cursed because I’ve lived countless tis?"

Micah stiffened. Countless lives. Right. Transmigrators lived not just once but maybe hundreds lives. Hopping from this world to another...Micah shook his head hard. "No...it’s not that." His voice trembled, and he swallowed, gripping the edge of Clyde’s shirt. "I am afraid. Afraid I am not your first love... or worse..." His throat tightened painfully. "You never loved at all. And I’ve been... deluding myself like an idiot."

Clyde’s mind went blank. "Huh?" He tilted his head, genuinely confused. "You are not making any sense. What’s going on with you?"

Micah lost his patience. He scoffed, frustration and fear twisting through his chest. "Oh, so that’s it? You want to dodge the question? Pretend nothing’s wrong? Did you really think I would let you walk all over and get away with it?"

Clyde blinked, his mind spinning. Sothing was terribly off. He felt they were talking about different things. Sowhere along the way, they had lost each other. Was he having a seizure or sothing? Had he lost the ability to comprehend?

It felt like they had taken two different tracks, and Micah was speeding ahead on a runaway train fuelled by pain and misunderstanding.

"Micah," he tried again, but Micah was already ranting, accusing him. "You don’t love , right? Just say it. You just want to abandon . You have already played with countless hearts and I’m just one of them. Am I right, aren’t I? Bastard! Fuck! You damn veteran flirt! hopping through one world to the other...." He sounded hysterical, far past the point of reasoning.

Clyde’s head started to pound. He rubbed his temples. What in the world was he talking about? Finally, he snapped.

"Micah...stop talking for one second!" Clyde barked, louder than he ant to. "Let speak!"

Micah flinched like he had been struck. His eyes went wide and red-rimd, glassy with tears. He was glad that his panic attack had not returned; his chest had already hurt enough as it was. He couldn’t breathe properly. He stared at Clyde, ready to hear the unbearable.

Clyde inhaled deeply, then started, voice low and steady. "I don’t know how it works... but ever since I was fifteen... I always knew I was in the book. I knew what role I was supposed to play. That I would fall in love with the real young master at a birthday banquet and then end up competing with a bunch of lunatics for him." He exhaled in frustration."So I always steered clear of anything related to the novel."

Micah blinked. "Huh? Wait? What?" He couldn’t comprehend what he was hearing.

Clyde continued. "But every ti I t you at a bar, I fell for you hard, without knowing anything about you. As cowardly as I was, I just acted as an older brother, fearing the curse of the novel would fall on you if you associated with . But such a foolish thought. When you disappeared, I realised you were the fake heir. But when I found you, you were always... gone already. Then the world would reset. The cycle kept repeating. I never retained my past mories. I just repeated the sa mistake. Avoiding you. Losing you. Regretting it. And then everything reset again."

Micah froze like he was electrified. His whole body went cold, then hot, then numb. His mind began racing miles per second, trying to process what Clyde was saying.

"You ... you live and die always in the sa world?" He whispered in disbelief.

Clyde didn’t get the aning. "Yeah... should I be in another world?"

That stupidly casual reply, so clueless, so innocent, snapped sothing in Micah. He lunged forward. He didn’t even think. His fists collided with Clyde’s shoulder, chest, then whatever part he could reach next. "Son of a bitch! Why didn’t you tell sooner?" He cried as he kept hitting him.

Micah’s eyes turned blurry, if he had not heard the system voice, this jerk wanted to conceal it until the end? That he miserably lived in this cycle of constant revival?

No..did he say the true young master? Did it an Clyde was supposed to fall in love with Darcy? Shit... the novel lied to him. That piece of shit universe or whatever it was...

What was the truth? Why did the universe want to torture Clyde? Why trap him in a cycle of losing him? Why force him to fall in love with soone he didn’t like?

Tears stread down Micah’s cheeks restlessly.

The depth of Clyde’s love for him shook his core. Fuck. It wasn’t fair. He loved him all this ti? Micah deep down believed Clyde. He didn’t know why, but he was sure Clyde was telling the truth. That he just loved him, the pitiful fake heir.

How did he feel when he lost him? Micah’s breath hitched, imagining the scene.

Clyde took his hands. "Hey, hey...Calm down. Breathe."

Micah sobbed freely. He was past caring about pride and dignity. Compared to the pain Clyde endured... what little pride did it matter?

His vision blurred with tears and sothing else....

At first, he thought it was dizziness, or his panic attack had returned...but then images flooded into him. Unfamiliar and familiar places and people filled his mind. Ahhhh.... No, what was this? No more...

Micah grunted and lost consciousness.

Clyde caught him before he hit the mattress, arms wrapping around him tightly. "Micah? Hey! Look at ... no. Stay with ..."

But Micah’s body went limp into his arms. There was no response to his pleas. Clyde stared wide-eyed at the silver-haired young man, his mind struggled to process what had happened again.

This ti it wasn’t related to Darcy at all... so why did Micah faint again?
