Chapter 971: Compass

Lucy and her father were currently facing such a problem.

In the first place, Lucy’s father was not a core mber of the Goodman family.

Lucy’s father strived for the opportunity to expand the Goodman’s family influence in the Eastern markets. However, if he failed, he would be abandoned by the Goodman family. This ant that Lucy would also be abandoned.

Therefore, Lucy understood that even if her father succeeded this ti around, he would not beco classified as ‘important’ within the Goodman family. It was rely a temporary ans to preserve their position in the Goodman family.

And hence, Lucy had other plans. Other than helping her father expand their family’s influence into the Eastern markets, she wanted to find the long-lost compass that belonged to the Goodman family.

That was the easiest, most effective, and most direct way for them to gain their family’s approval and trust.

Lucy returned to their residence in Beijing. It was a private villa located on the outskirts of the city.

The villa was heavily guarded. All the security personnel were their bodyguards whom they had brought from abroad.

When she returned to the villa, she headed to the basent. Currently, two females from the Qin family were held captive behind the tal cell doors.

There were no windows in the basent. The room was completely dark until Lucy entered.

When Qin Yufan saw Lucy, she smiled mockingly at her: “It appears as though your plan isn’t working.”

Qin Yufan knew that if the Goodman family succeeded with their plan, they would not keep her alive.

The Goodman family was dirty and ruthless with the way they handled things.

“I know you’re upset. However, believe it or not, it was not my intention to kidnap you. I’m trying my best to keep you alive.”

“I, Qin Yufan, am not a three-year-old child. I know your family’s dirty tricks. You kidnap people and threaten them. Therefore, you don’t need to act like a good person in front of . How disgusting.”

“I went to see Master Sheng today. As you said, he only has his fiancee in his eyes.”

“I told you this a long ti ago! He wouldn’t be interested in you! Just forget it! Yiling’s a thousand tis better than you!”

“Well, the word admit defeat does not exist in the Goodman family’s dictionary. We were taught that if we want sothing, we need to fight for it with our own efforts. We shouldn’t just pity ourselves.”

“Tch, your Chinese is not bad. I’m impressed that you know those words,” Qin Yufan sneered.

“I thought you could understand my feelings.”

Lucy knew that Qin Yufan also liked Zhai Yunsheng once upon a ti. She had pursued Zhai Yunsheng for a long ti. Almost everyone in Beijing knew about this.

“Don’t confuse with you. I, Qin Yufan, would never do these things.”

However, Lucy was not angry when she heard this. Instead, she replied: “Well then, since you’re unwilling to talk to today, I will see you next ti.”

###

That night, when Jian Yiling returned ho, she opened the large suitcase in her room. The suitcase was filled with pieces of jewelry.

Then, she retrieved an object with distinctive Western characteristics.

It was a round disk that was the sa size as a bowl.

The texture was tal and it was black-yellow in color.

On the front, there was a red jewel that was roughly the size of a pigeon egg embedded in the disk.

On the back, there was an ancient pattern carved into it.

Earlier in the day, Jian Yiling saw the sa pattern on Lucy’s ring.

Surprisingly, even the texture of the tal used was similar.

Jian Yiling held the object in her hand. She was a bit puzzled.

The person who gave her this item told her that it was worth a lot of money. However, they did not tell her what it was for nor did they tell her which family this item was related to.
