It was as though countless needles were being stabbed into her skin. The pain was enough to make her break down in despair.
She wanted to escape but she couldn’t.
“Jian Yiling… I was wrong… I was wrong… Please let go… I’m begging you…”
Wen Ruo begged Jian Yiling in a weak voice.
However, Jian Yiling’s face remained expressionless and indifferent.
The pain lasted for five more minutes. By the end of it, Wen Ruo could no longer make a sound.
She was in so much pain that her consciousness began to blur. She was in utter pain and misery.
At this mont, a police siren could be heard.
Jian Yiling was already done with punishing Wen Ruo.
Just now, Wen Ruo assud her pain was over. However, she did not realize that her pain had just begun. The police ca over to Wen Ruo and asked her what had happened.
“No no! I don’t want to go to jail! I don’t want to go to jail!” Wen Ruo cried out. She was terrified.
Her mind was telling her to run away.
However, she did not have the strength to run away.
And even if she had the strength to run away, the police were already here. Where could she even escape to?
Wen Ruo hissed and shouted with her hoarse voice.
However, no one ca to help her.
Then, the police put handcuffs on Wen Ruo.
“I know I did the wrong thing… I know I was wrong…” Wen Ruo said. She repeatedly admitted her mistake.
The only thing left in Wen Ruo’s head was regret.
Back then, she was crazy with jealousy. She just wanted Jian Yiling to die. It seed as though if Jian Yiling died, all her problems would be solved.
However, the mont she saw blood, she beca terrified.
Then, when she thought about going to jail, she felt her world collapse and crumble around her.
“If just apologizing could achieve sothing, then why do we need the police?” the policeman asked Wen Ruo. “And why don’t you think about right and wrong before you attempt to murder soone?”
“No! No! I don’t want to go to jail!” Wen Ruo cried out. Her eyes were filled with fear.
“Now you’re afraid?” the policeman asked.
“I…” Wen Ruo stamred. She did not know what to say.
“Well, since you did it, you now have to bear the consequences.”
“Then… What are… The consequences?” Wen Ruo asked with a trembling voice.
“At least three years in jail. At most, a death penalty. The judge at court will decide what kind of punishnt you will receive.”
Upon hearing the words death penalty, Wen Ruo beca completely limp. All her strength left her body.
And at least three years!
She was going to jail!
The policeman shook their heads helplessly as they picked up Wen Ruo and dragged her into their vehicle.
She was going to face criminal proceedings. It did not matter whether or not Wen Yan was going to file a lawsuit against her. Either way, she was going to be held accountable for her actions.
What awaited her was a minimum of three years in jail.
After Wen Ruo was taken away, Jian Yiling turned around to hug Zhai Yunsheng.
Her arms tightly circled around Zhai Yunsheng’s waist.
During her ti as a doctor, Jian Yiling had seen countless patients.
So had suffered car accidents and others carried infectious diseases. In fact, there were a few patients who suffered from organ damage.
She had also seen different corpses.
Corpses that had been sunken in water, corpses that were burnt by fire, corpses that were missing an arm or leg, corpses that were rotting, and even badly mutilated corpses.
However, never before did she feel fear. Back then, it was as though she was looking at things from another world.
However, today, she felt fear. She felt fear when she saw that arrow. She felt fear when she saw those drops of blood.
To Jian Yiling, Wen Yan’s injury was different from other injuries.
As a result, she did not know how to handle such an emotion.
However, she knew that she felt more at ease when she hugged Zhai Yunsheng.
Zhai Yunsheng’s arms were also around Jian Yiling.
He could sense the fear of the person in his arms.
