Chapter 44: Chapter 44 We Go One-on-One

“Do you know when the neighboring farm moved away?”

Qiao Yi asked the question and imdiately saw the uncle visibly stunned, replying in astonishnt.

“He moved? Three days ago when I went to the supermarket, I still saw the farm owner bringing a group of people to the farm. I was curious why that distinct odd sll from the farm was absent today. So he actually moved away?”

After exchanging glances with Lu Yanchuan, Qiao Yi realized that they must have received the news three days ago and moved away early all at once.

Thinking for a mont, Qiao Yi asked, “Do you rember what the owner of the farm looks like?”

Qiao Yi didn’t hold out much hope for this question; expecting a regular uncle to rember a neighbor he didn’t see often was asking too much of him.

...

But contrary to Qiao Yi’s expectations, the uncle did rember what he looked like.

“The man had a small mustache, a limp in his left foot, and wasn’t tall—didn’t seem like a good person at first glance, and he was always carrying a black briefcase.”

It wasn’t that the uncle had a great mory; it was just that this neighbor had characteristics that were hard to forget, even if you’d only t him once.

Unable to tell if she was disappointed, Qiao Yi could find a whole bunch of mustachioed, limping n, but which one was it? Surely she couldn’t have the uncle confirm each and every one she found, could she?

After bidding farewell to the produce uncle, Qiao Yi listlessly got into the car heading back to the hotel.

The trail was lost, and for such a deep-rooted cancer between the Qiao Family and Lu Group, Qiao Yi couldn’t think of a proper solution.

If she couldn’t figure it out, then don’t think about it; when the sky falls, there will be taller people to hold it up. Qiao Yi decided to go back and just report the matter to Qiao Benqing and let him investigate further.

By the ti the car returned to the hotel, it was already dark. A very familiar car drove across from them, and Qiao Xin got out of the car.

Qiao Xin walked past Qiao Yi and Lu Yanchuan with her head held high in arrogance. Qiao Yi gave her a puzzled glance, not quite understanding what this woman was up to now.

Wasn’t she supposed to shalessly cling to Lu Yanchuan whenever she saw him? How co she’s acting reserved now?

Qiao Yi turned to look at Lu Yanchuan, no mistake—still very handso and pleasing to the eye. So why was his charm not enough for Qiao Xin today?

Before Qiao Yi could figure it out, another car arrived behind them, and out stepped Lu Ming.

However, Lu Ming’s appearance surprised both Qiao Yi and Lu Yanchuan.

Lu Ming was covered in layers of dust, looking as if there were still ashes remaining on him, appearing extrely disheveled.

“Did you go digging coal mines?”

Qiao Yi looked at the black dust on Lu Ming. His face turned even uglier, ignoring Qiao Yi and Lu Yanchuan and heading into the hotel.

Watching the irritable Lu Ming pushing past the security, she nudged Lu Yanchuan.

“He didn’t really go and do sothing shady, did he?”

Lu Yanchuan was cold as ice, completely disdainful of Lu Ming, and he dragged Qiao Yi past the Lu Ming who was entangled with the security guard, heading into the hotel.

“Qiao Qiao, when are you coming back? How is the investigation going? I’m suffocating at ho!”

Feng Siyu was holding her phone and complaining. Qiao Yi didn’t want to worry her with the news of the missing estate, and only after promising to return early and finally mollifying Feng Siyu did she hang up the phone.

Qiao Yi put down the phone and imdiately saw Lu Yanchuan looking at her with a strange expression, which made her feel tense all over and involuntarily shrink back.

“What are you doing, looking at like that?”

“I’m just wondering if it’s because of Feng Siyu that you don’t want to marry Lu Ming.”

“What did you say?”

Qiao Yi asked reflexively, while Lu Yanchuan said it was nothing, but the eyes behind his newspaper still sneakily glanced at Qiao Yi.

A good while passed before Qiao Yi finally understood what Lu Yanchuan ant!

He suspected her of being a lesbian!

This was outrageous!

Did he forget about the incident that happened that day?

Qiao Yi was surprisingly furious, grabbing a pillow nearby and smashing it towards Lu Yanchuan, her whole person also scread and pounced to fight him to the death.

“How dare you think that way! You’re dead at!”

Qiao Yi’s small fra was not enough for Lu Yanchuan to be bothered with one hand; he easily pinned her on the bed while she still glared at him with those big eyes.

“Co on, let go! Let’s go one on one!”

Lu Yanchuan was finally amused by Qiao Yi’s antics and laughed, the tremors in his laughter allowed Qiao Yi to distinctly feel the warmth of the man pressing down on her.

Qiao Yi blushed, struggling hard to overturn Lu Yanchuan, to break free from his embrace.

“Ah! You two! You two!”

Suddenly, a sharp scream ca from the door. Before Qiao Yi could react, Lu Yanchuan had already pulled her tightly into the covers.

Struggling out of the blanket, Qiao Yi looked towards the door, only to see a pale-faced Qiao Xin standing there, speechless and pointing at the two of them inside the room.

“Do you have sothing to say? If not, don’t disturb our couple’s private world, okay?”

Qiao Yi wiggled and nudged towards Lu Yanchuan, who then held her along with the blanket into his arms.

Qiao Xin’s face turned from green to white and finally reddened, looking at Lu Yanchuan as if she was looking at a heartless man.

“How, how could you treat this way!”

Qiao Yi felt it was necessary to interrupt Qiao Xin’s illusions, struggling out of the blanket and after tidying up her clothes, Qiao Yi then stood up and faced Qiao Xin.

“Look, can you not stare at soone else’s man with those eyes? Can’t your own man satisfy you? If you’re unsatisfied, go out on the street to pick up, surely you can get the amount you want.”

“See, I even gave you such a good idea; shouldn’t you be leaving now? If you don’t go, I’ll call security!”

Qiao Yi caught the slap that Qiao Xin threw at her, pulling her towards the exit.

“Look at you, even if you like the suggestion I made, there’s no need to be so excited, right? Move it, don’t waste ti.”

Qiao Yi dragged Qiao Xin by the arm all the way, completely ignoring her struggles and screams, directly pushed her out, and with a bang, closed the door firmly.

“Lu Yanchuan, the hotel security you arranged seems not very effective, how can just anyone barge into the room?”

Qiao Yi leaned against the wall with her arms folded, though it wasn’t Lu Yanchuan’s fault, it was still sowhat related to him, and Qiao Yi didn’t mind mocking him about it.

Lu Yanchuan did not agree or disagree, grabbing his coat and heading out.

“Where are you going?”

“To deal with these guys who always like running into other people’s rooms.”
