From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss Chapter 93: The Difference Between Love and Indifference
Inside a rented room, a man wearing a baseball cap was sitting on the bed, eating instant noodles.
Suddenly, the phone on the bedside rang, and he set down the instant noodles in his hand and picked up the phone to take a look.
The words "Lady" appeared on the screen, and he pressed the answer button.
"Hello, Miss."
"Owen, the police have traced you now, you must hide well, don’t get caught." A woman’s anxious voice ca through the phone.
Owen Barlow smiled slightly, "Miss, rest assured, the police won’t be able to catch ."
"In any case, take care of yourself, once things calm down, I’ll send you abroad."
"Miss, you can rest assured, even if the police catch , I won’t betray you." Owen Barlow laughed self-deprecatingly.
"Owen, what are you saying? I’ll find a way to save you."
"Miss, you’re already too busy to look after yourself, don’t bother worrying about ." Owen Barlow understood well that Lady was kind to him, and he would never betray her.
The woman on the other end of the phone was silent for a mont, her voice tinged with helplessness and worry: "Owen, you must be careful. If there is a chance, leave here quickly."
Owen Barlow nodded, "I understand, Miss. You take care too."
After hanging up the phone, Owen fell into deep thought. He knew his current situation was extrely dangerous, but he did not regret working for the Lady. For many years, the Lady treated him with great kindness, and he was willing to go through fire and water for her.
However, he also knew that the police’s pursuit would not stop easily.
He had to find a way to get out of this predicant quickly, or the consequences would be unimaginable.
Owen Barlow stood up and walked to the window, cautiously observing the outside situation.
He decided to hide in this rented room for a while, and make plans once things cald down.
Police Station
"Master Hawthorne, after comparing with the database and witness statents, we’ve basically identified the killer as this man nad Owen Barlow."
The police officer pointed to Owen Barlow’s photo on the blackboard, explaining to Caden Hawthorne.
"According to the investigation, Owen Barlow is an orphan, 28 years old, working as an MMA instructor at a martial arts gym. His colleagues describe him as soone not good at communication, preferring to be solitary. We’ve surveyed his residence and found out he hasn’t returned for half a month. He might already be in hiding."
Caden Hawthorne heard this and nodded slightly, "Since the culprit has been identified, catching him shouldn’t be difficult."
Zachary Sutton questioned with a puzzled look, "He may already know we’ve traced him, and hasn’t shown up at all. What if he never shows up?"
Caden Hawthorne smirked coldly, "A person eventually runs out of options—I don’t believe he can keep evading forever."
The police officer nodded in agreent, "We’ve notified all departnts and released a bounty. As soon as there is a lead on Owen Barlow, we’ll apprehend him imdiately."
Caden Hawthorne sat with his hands clasped and expressed gratitude, "Thanks to everyone for the hard work."
The police officer waved his hand quickly, "Master Hawthorne, you’re too kind, this is our duty. Bringing the culprit to justice soon also maintains societal peace."
Zachary Sutton also comnted, "Master Hawthorne, we can’t be careless now. Since Owen Barlow managed to commit cris right under our noses, he likely possesses certain counter-surveillance abilities."
Caden Hawthorne narrowed his eyes slightly and thought for a mont before saying, "Increase the search efforts, especially in remote areas and places easy to hide. At the sa ti, continue to investigate his social connections and see if there are any hiding places."
Zachary Sutton nodded in agreent, "Understood, I’ll arrange it imdiately."
With further actions by the police and Caden Hawthorne, the entire city was filled with tension.
Owen Barlow’s photo was widely circulated, and people were on alert for this dangerous figure.
Since there was never any evidence to prove Yara York hired a killer, she was soon released by the police.
On this day, Caden Hawthorne took the initiative to invite the sisters out, deciding to test them.
"Caden brother actually invited us to et?" Yara York was surprised when she learned the news.
Yvonne York smiled slightly, "Indeed! Caden said he had so misunderstandings about us before, and now that the truth is out, he wants to apologize to us in person."
Upon hearing this, Yara’s face was full of joy, "That’s great, Sis, this can be considered a good start! At least, my seven days in the police station weren’t in vain."
Yvonne was moved and held Yara’s hand, apologizing, "Yara, I’m sorry for making you suffer during this ti."
Yara shook her head, "Sis, you can’t be blad. Who could have thought such a thing would happen? But now it’s better, since Caden brother invited us to et, maybe you’ll still have a chance."
Yvonne nodded with a smile, "Yes!"
The sisters ca to the appointed place, a café, filled with anticipation.
Caden Hawthorne was already there waiting, his face with a faint smile, making it hard to discern his true thoughts.
"Caden brother." Yara York went over first to greet him, her face full of happiness.
Yvonne also smiled and nodded, "Caden, long ti no see."
Caden Hawthorne nodded slightly, gesturing for them to sit across from him, "Co, have a seat."
After the York sisters sat down, the atmosphere was sowhat subtle.
Caden Hawthorne looked at the York sisters and slowly said, "I misunderstood you before. I apologize to you."
Yvonne quickly said, "Caden, you don’t need to be so polite. We understand your feelings. After all, with such things happening, everyone was tense."
Yara also chid in, "Yes, Caden brother. Now that things have passed, we don’t want to bring it up again."
Caden Hawthorne slightly squinted his eyes, observing the sisters’ expressions. He felt things weren’t that simple, but had no conclusive evidence.
"I heard Miss Yara spent seven days in the police station, you surely suffered a lot, didn’t you?" Caden deliberately remarked.
Yara showed a hint of grievance, "Yes, Caden brother. Those days inside were hard. But now, I’m finally out."
Caden Hawthorne chuckled, "From now on, be careful and don’t get caught up in such things again."
Yvonne and Yara exchanged a glance, then nodded, "We will. Don’t worry, Caden."
"Do you want to drink sothing?" Caden changed the subject.
Yvonne was about to speak, and Caden imdiately called a waiter to order three cappuccinos.
Watching Caden’s actions, Yvonne frowned, realizing that despite knowing her preference for juices, he ordered coffee.
Evidently, he never cared about what she actually liked.
Thinking of this, Yvonne gave a bittersweet smile—is this the difference between love and indifference?
