Lin Fan's voice echoed in the air, and the soldiers stopped for a mont.
They turned and looked, trying to figure out what Lin Fan was holding in his hand.
Squinting their eyes, they could only barely make out the thing in his hand was round, like a man's head.
It didn't occur to them who the head might have belonged to.
"What's he thinking?"
The Quan soldiers thought as they turned their attention back to the enemies in front of them.
The sa thing went through the Hulu Tribe soldiers' minds.
Both sides got right back into battle, trying to kill off each other.
As Lin Fan got nearer, things changed.
The Hulu Tribe soldiers, when they charged at Lin Fan, held back their horses at the last minute.
Clank.
Swords in their hands fell onto the ground, their eyes opened wide, and their jaws dropped.
They couldn't believe what they saw, and they rubbed their eyes to make sure they weren't seeing things.
It didn't work, and even after rubbing their eyes, it was clear to them whose head was in Lin Fan's hand.
Hulu Bei Er.
Their Khan, their mighty warrior had fallen.
In an instant, all the fighting spirit was gone from within their hearts.
They looked at each other and gave each other a perturbed look.
"Retreat! Save the fight for another day!" The commander of the Hulu Tribe forces shouted.
They cared more about what was to co for the Hulu Tribe.
Out of the different families that made up the Hulu Tribe, the Wan Yan family, Bao Er family, and Bo Chi family would have a go at each other to claim power.
There was no point in winning this battle and sacrificing their soldiers to lose the power struggle later.
At this point, it didn't take much convincing to get the Hulu Tribe soldiers to retreat.
They started to pull back as fast as possible.
On the other side, the Quan Dynasty soldiers couldn't believe their fortune.
They were on the verge of defeat with the sudden intrusion of the n in robes.
But now, Lin Fan had co and turned it all around for them.
They gripped tightly onto whatever they had in their hands and wanted to give chase.
"Die!"
"Cowards! Co and fight !"
"Don't let them get away, archers, get ready!"
Using their spears, swords, and arrows, they gave their best at the fleeing Hulu Tribe troops.
"Welco back! I nearly thought you might not have made it." Lu Ding on his horse ca over and t up with Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Zhang Yi Nian.
"That's not the first ti you've underestimated ." Lin Fan tilted his head, handed the head of Hulu Bei Er over to Lu Ding, and said.
Lu Ding took the head and he slapped the back of his head.
"I know, I shall treat you to a sumptuous al for that!" He said sheepishly.
"You should know a al wouldn't be enough." Lin Fan said, reminding Lu Ding of his father's deal with him.
Lu Ding wanted to say sothing before he was interrupted by Lee.
"Captain.. No, General Lu Ding, there's sothing I want to report." He said anxiously.
"Don't call that. It's not official yet." Lu Ding shook his head and said.
Lee didn't bother with it and briefed Lu Ding and everyone on what had happened, how the so-called 'Qing Feng Sect' disciples let Hai Tao off.
Lin Fan frowned and thought for a mont.
These fake Qing Feng Sect disciples must have been sent by soone.
Soone that wanted to sully the good na of Qing Feng Sect.
And that soone had resources and enough power to do so.
A man's face ca into his mind.
All that he could think of was the Emperor.
He had better try and stop Hai Tao from getting back to the capital, Bian Jing.
"Get your n to try and find any evidence that these Qing Feng Sect mbers were fake."
Lin Fan said to Lu Ding, and he turned back to where Ho Ming and Zhang Yi Nian were.
"Ti is of the essence. Let's go and try to catch up to Hai Tao." Lin Fan said and they nodded.
They went away imdiately with their horses galloping as fast as they could.
Lu Ding and his n then got to work.
He also took control of the remaining soldiers that were Ye Sheng and Hai Tao's troops.
Inch by inch, they tried to look for evidence.
The n in robes had all blown up and their bodies were now pieces of flesh strewn all over the battlefield.
And as the sun shined down with imnse heat, it made it more difficult for the soldiers.
"Captain.. Er… General, we better be fast, or the sickness will get to the soldiers." One of the centurions said to Lu Ding as he saw them trying hard but coming up empty-handed.
Lu Ding nodded and said, "Those areas that were combed, take care of the bodies and burn them."
It was the best he could do to try and lessen the possibilities of illness falling onto his troops.
The soldiers got to work imdiately, and they piled up the bodies after the area had been combed, and they set the bodies on fire.
All that he could do next was wait.
"Captain, it's done." Another soldier ca up and held up the head of Hulu Bei Er.
The head was now being dipped inside a container and subrged in a yellow liquid.
It was how the Quan soldiers preserved the heads of important foes that they had slain for rewards.
Lu Ding nodded and gave out another order.
A ssage of their victory and the beheading of Hulu Bei Er was to be sent via ssenger pigeons to the Emperor.
He sighed as he didn't know whether it would co back to be good or bad for him and his family.
…
anwhile, Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Zhang Yi Nian were on the chase after Hai Tao.
They were around ten kiloters away from Lu Ding when they saw a man on a horse in front of them.
The figure looked familiar even though he had removed his armor, trying to go faster.
