"Hold them!" Hai Tao shouted as he moved back with his close guards.
The scene of the Sword Saint and Jian Xi leaving Hai Tao had caused his troops to be in doubt.
And the commander from the Hulu Tribe took advantage of it, mounting a counterattack with the forces that he had.
"Captain, look, there's another force coming towards us," one of Hai Tao's close guards shouted.
He pointed at a force of about a few hundred on their horses coming towards them from the right of the battlefield.
Hai Tao glanced over and was perturbed with what he saw.
These troops weren't in Quan armor or Hulu Tribe armor.
They were oddly dressed in robes.
"Send a centurion and see what they are up to," Hai Tao gave out his order.
One of his close guards nodded and went on his way.
Soon a small team had to turn and line up to face the unknown force.
The commander of the Hulu Tribe narrowed his eyes and observed what was happening.
He didn't know who these new incoming forces were.
The only thing he was sure about was that they weren't from the Hulu Tribe.
But he was not prepared for what he would witness the very next mont.
The centurion for the small team that lined up and faced the forces in robes sent a ssenger up towards the forces in robes.
"Who are you? And what's your purpose here!"
When he got near enough, the ssenger shouted at the n dressed in robes in front of him.
The ssenger didn't get any answers to his queries; what he got was sothing he had not expected.
One of the n in robes drew out his sword and thrust it at him, and a twirling wind shot at him.
Whoosh.
The twirling wind ripped through the ssenger's armor, and he fell from the horseback imdiately.
It worked, thought the man in robes who had unleashed the twirling wind as he looked at the bracelet artifact on his wrist.
The artifact was able to produce a twirling wind that looked like the Twirling Wind Strike just like the Qing Feng Sword Technique.
He raised his sword and shouted, "Qing Feng Sect disciples, kill these dogs from the imperial court. It's ti to overthrow the Emperor!"
The other n in robes also raised their swords, and they charged at Hai Tao's troops.
"The Qing Feng Sect?!" Hai Tao couldn't believe it when he heard his n reporting back.
He had so many questions in his mind.
Why would the Qing Feng Sect want to overthrow his Majesty?
And of all tis, why now when he was in retreat under the pressure of the Hulu Tribe troops?
The n in robes overran the centurion tasked to face them easily.
Only shreds of flesh and body parts could be found when the n in robes rode through.
The armor of the Quan troops was no match for the twirling wind that the n in robes unleashed.
And when they joined the battleground where Hai Tao's troops were in retreat from the advancing Hulu Tribe, the tides imdiately turned against Hai Tao for the worse.
"Captain! What should we do?"
After pulling out his sword from the body of a Hulu Tribe soldier, one of Hai Tao's guards turned and asked.
Hai Tao assessed the ss that he was in.
Nothing but a miracle could save him.
Thoughts of running away or surrendering went through his mind.
No, that would an losing the position of General and worse, being branded as a coward forever.
He glanced over to the left of the battlefield.
His only hope was to seek help from Lu Ding.
"Go seek help from Lu Ding! Get him and his troops to reinforce us."
Hai Tao shouted at his close guards, trying to grasp onto his chance of survival.
One of his close guards with a few n obliged and rode off.
They were down to only the close guard when they reached Lu Ding after braving through the Hulu Tribe soldiers.
"Captain Lu Ding. Captain Hai Tao requests your help for reinforcents."
The close guard with wounds all over him, bowed and said.
Lu Ding frowned, fearing it might be a trap set up for him.
When the close guard saw Lu Ding's hesitation, he further elaborated on what had happened.
"A force of around a few hundred from the Qing Feng Sect has joined in the battle, and with their Twirling Wind Strike, has caused serious damage."
"Qing Feng Sect? How is that possible?" Lu Ding and his n were surprised.
Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Zhang Yi Nian were from the Qing Feng Sect, but they weren't anything but rebelling against the Emperor.
There was sothing fishy about it that he couldn't pinpoint in the mont.
He thought again for a mont.
If he didn't help Hai Tao, the battle might turn against them soon.
And most importantly, he had to capture so of the so-called Qing Feng Sect to find out the truth.
"Lee, lead your n with Ho and Han's n to fend off these 'Qing Feng Sect' disciples. Try to capture so; I want to find out what's behind all of this," Lu Ding turned over and said.
"Yes, Captain!" Lee bowed and galloped off with the others.
Lu Ding then continued to command the push against the Hulu Tribe that was in the middle of the battlefield.
Silently in his mind, he was wondering what had happened to Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Zhang Yi Nian.
Lin Fan was more than just so help to him.
He had been able to show him what it ant to be more pragmatic and not to be too idealistic.
Even though Lin Fan wasn't too successful, Lu Ding knew he wouldn't have survived so far without being a little more pragmatic.
Right now, he sincerely hoped Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Zhang Yi Nian were safe.
And on top of that, pragmatic-wise, it would be a huge blow to his troop's morale if they failed.
He glanced over in the direction of Hulu Bei Er's campsite and hoped for the best in his heart.
