Lin Fan was surprised by this 'elder,' and he quickly introduced himself, "I'm Lin Fan from the Physique Peak. Pleased to et you, Elder Guo."
If Guo He Ru was as talented as he said he was, it would be great to have him on his side. Your next read is at My Virtual Library Empire
The fact that he had to seek help from Lin Fan and Ho Ming to protect him on his trip ant that he wasn't on good terms with the other elders in Alchemy Peak.
Being so young and talented often attracted jealousy and ill will against them.
In his previous life, Lin Fan had seen this happen over and over again.
"Don't call Elder Guo. Just call by my na. It would seem odd to others on the trip and cause unnecessary attention," Guo He Ru said.
"Sure, He Ru." Lin Fan thought about what Guo He Ru said about 'unnecessary attention.'
There might be more than ets the eye for this trip, Lin Fan thought.
He glanced over at Ho Ming and gave him a heads-up.
Ho Ming caught his hint and nodded.
They mounted their horses and began their journey to dicine Valley.
dicine Valley was a hundred kiloters south of where Qing Feng Sect was located.
It was a place where it stayed hot and wet all year round, which made it a conducive environnt for different herbs.
For herbs that required cold climates, they could be found in Tiger Jade Mountain, which ford part of dicine Valley.
It was high enough to remain snowy throughout the year.
This combination of environntal factors made dicine Valley a place that all sects wanted to seek control over.
"Is your friend reliable? Can he go up against savages and assassins?" Guo He Ru asked Ho Ming as he scanned Lin Fan from top to bottom.
Lin Fan was leading the way in front of them as they traveled to dicine Valley.
"Haven't you heard about what he can do?" Ho Ming asked, as most in the sect already knew of Lin Fan's mission accomplishnts.
"I am always busy conjuring up new pills in my alchemy cave; I've got no ti to gossip. Maybe you can fill in on this."
Ho Ming smiled and began to tell him about Lin Fan's achievents from the beginning.
When Guo He Ru heard about how Lin Fan had won the matches for Qing Feng Sect as a nial disciple against the Storm Fist Thunder sect, he squinted his eyes and glanced at Ho Ming.
Ho Ming saw his bewildernt and said, "But that was not all."
When Ho Ming continued and talked about what Lin Fan had done against the Dark Lotus Sect in the cave with the white toads and mountain ghost, Guo He Ru frowned and looked again at Lin Fan.
Is this Lin Fan really so strong and powerful? Guo He Ru thought.
He was even more shocked by what Ho Ming told him when he heard about Lin Fan's battles in the Late Spring Hunting Ground.
And how he had faced and delayed the Dark Lord, finally allowing Qing Yang Zi the ti to arrive at the last minute to finish him off.
Lastly, when Ho Ming told him about Lin Fan's heroic actions that helped save the team during their escape from Bei Dian Castle, Guo He Ru knew he had to ask.
"You were introduced to by Lian Shan, whom I trust a lot. But what you've told , is it real?"
Guo He Ru looked at Ho Ming and asked.
He studied Ho Ming's expression to try to see if he was lying as Ho Ming replied.
"Yes, I was there all along to witness it. It's all true," Ho Ming replied.
Seeing that Ho Ming seed earnest in his reply, Guo He Ru nodded and felt relieved that Lin Fan was soone much more capable than he had expected.
Unknown to them, Lin Fan had used the Sound mory ability and heard their conversation.
He knew sothing was definitely wrong when he heard Guo He Ru ask about assassins.
...
Herb Town.
They decided to rest for the night in Herb Town, which was the nearest town to dicine Valley.
It was bustling with rchants and Alchemy Cultivators from all over Quan Dynasty.
There were many shops and street-side stalls selling their pills and the ingredients for the pills.
Even small children got into the action, advertising the pills to outsiders like Lin Fan.
Guo He Ru, however, wasn't pleased as he shook his head at every stall and shop after he took a glance at the pills and ingredients on sale.
Lin Fan asked him why, and the answer he got was that at least ninety percent of the pills and ingredients were fake.
Guo He Ru had to reject and changed so many suppliers to ensure the quality of the pills from the Alchemy Peak didn't suffer.
And that was one of the reasons why he wanted to venture into dicine Valley himself, to have access directly.
He was sick and tired of the corrupted supply chain for the pills and ingredients.
Lin Fan took note of it and had a clearer picture of who might have wanted to hurt Guo He Ru.
He chose to keep quiet for now and heightened his alert.
It's best to negotiate when the other party is in desperate need, Lin Fan thought.
After looking around the town, they booked a room in an inn and settled in for the night.
Lin Fan closed his eyes and waited in his bed.
After an hour of waiting, his hunch was confird to be right.
He could hear footsteps approaching from outside the room.
And more footsteps could be heard on the wooden boards on the ceiling.
Lin Fan nudged Ho Ming, who was sleeping beside him.
He was also wide awake, anticipating an assassination attempt on Guo He Ru.
Rustle.
Cough.
The footsteps stopped when they heard noises made by Guo He Ru as he turned in his bed and coughed.
Lin Fan and Ho Ming took this opportunity and sprang into action.
Boom.
Lin Fan broke through the door of the room and saw three n dressed and masked in black outside.
