Chapter 61: Young Man, You Are Still Too Young

.........

“Old Ancestor, our n have already investigated it thoroughly. That thief Jiang Dao’s last known destination was the Qingfeng Valley of the Qingfeng Li Clan. After entering Qingfeng Valley, he never ca out again.”

Inside a restaurant in the county city, a middle-aged man respectfully reported to a crane-haired, youthful-faced old man.

“The Qingfeng Li Clan?”

Hearing this, the old man’s brows drew together slightly.

“Yes, Old Ancestor. If Jiang Dao has obtained the Qingfeng Li Clan’s protection, then killing Jiang Dao and avenging the Young Master will not be so simple.”

The middle-aged man said with a grave expression.

“What do you an?”

The old man was sowhat puzzled. In his mory, the Qingfeng Li Clan seed to have only a single cultivator at Initial Entry into the Qi-Blood Realm.

As if seeing the confusion in the old man’s eyes, the middle-aged man explained, “Old Ancestor, you have been in seclusion for too long. There are many things you do not yet know. The current Qingfeng Li Clan is no longer what it once was.”

“Ever since the previous Family Head of the Qingfeng Li Clan died, the one who succeeded him as Family Head has been a young man barely seventeen years old.”

“A re seventeen-year-old brat can serve as Family Head? That is simply making a joke of the family.”

The old man sneered.

“Old Ancestor, you absolutely must not underestimate him just because he is young.”

The middle-aged man hurriedly said.

“Although the Li Clan’s new Family Head is only seventeen, during his ti in office, the Li Clan has already annexed five of Baihe County’s Nine Great Families. Moreover, his own cultivation has already reached Minor Accomplishnt in the Qi-Blood Realm.”

“Pff!”

The old man, who had been drinking tea, sprayed a mouthful straight into the middle-aged man’s face. Ignoring the resentful look the man gave him, the old man widened his eyes and said in utter disbelief, “A seventeen-year-old cultivator at Minor Accomplishnt in the Qi-Blood Realm? Are you joking with ?”

The middle-aged man wiped the tea from his face and said bitterly, “Old Ancestor, how would I dare deceive you? Everyone in Baihe County knows of this.”

“And not only that. Apart from that youthful Family Head, two of the Li Clan’s elders have also broken through into the Qi-Blood Realm. The Li Clan now has no fewer than three Qi-Blood Realm cultivators in one family.”

The old man’s breathing gradually grew heavier.

Only after a long while did he slowly say, “If that is truly the case, then this matter really will not be easy to handle.”

“What should we do now, Old Ancestor?”

The old man thought for a while, then instructed, “Write up a calling card for . I will personally go pay a visit to this youthful Family Head.”

“Yes.”

.......

Two hours later,

the old man and the middle-aged man beside him arrived at Qingfeng Valley.

“Halt. Ahead lies the seat of the Qingfeng Li Clan. Without permission, no one may enter.”

Two Li Clan cultivators said in grave voices.

The old man looked at these two ordinary Li Clan cultivators, yet from head to toe both of them exuded an indescribable pride and confidence. He could not help sighing inwardly. It seed the Li Clan truly had begun to carry the bearing of a great family.

He gave the middle-aged man beside him a look. The latter understood at once, stepped forward, handed over the calling card, and said, “The Yang Family of Qu County has co especially to pay a visit to your honored clan. We ask that you pass on the ssage.”

One of the Li Clan cultivators accepted the calling card, glanced over it, and then his tone beca more courteous.

“Please wait here a mont. I will go in and report this imdiately.”

Within Qingfeng Valley, Li Xingge looked at the calling card in his hand and said to the Grand Elder with a smile, “Grand Elder, the one who ought to co has finally co.”

The Grand Elder shook his head with a faint smile.

“Quickly invite them in. In addition, notify the clan’s elders to wait in the guest hall.”

......

Inside the guest hall,

the old man looked at Li Xingge, who sat at the seat of honor with a faint smile and extraordinary bearing, and inwardly marveled. The rumors truly had not exaggerated.

He cupped his fists and said, “Yang Zhongze of the Yang Family of Qu County greets Family Head Li, and greets the elders of the Li Clan.”

Li Xingge looked at Yang Zhongze and thought to himself that this man should be that Yang Clan Old Ancestor.

Faced with a cultivator of the sa realm, Li Xingge naturally would not act arrogantly. He rose to his feet, returned the salute, and said, “Honored guests, please be seated.”

The two n sat down.

Li Xingge knowingly asked, “The Yang Family of Qu County lies quite far from my Qingfeng Valley. May I ask what matter has brought the two of you here from so far away?”

Yang Zhongze wore a smile on his face, but inwardly cursed him as a little fox.

He gave a light cough and got straight to the point.

“The reason I have disturbed your honored clan today is truly because circumstances left no choice. There is a rogue cultivator of the jianghu by the na of Jiang Dao. In Qu County, he killed Yang’s grandson. I ca in pursuit of him, and I learned that Jiang Dao’s last known whereabouts placed him within your Qingfeng Valley. That is why I ca especially to pay this visit today.”

Li Xingge and the elders all put on expressions of surprise.

Then Li Xingge smiled and said, “I never imagined Jiang Dao and the Yang family had such enmity between them. To be frank with you, Jiang Dao is indeed currently within my Qingfeng Valley.”

Yang Zhongze’s expression shifted slightly.

“I ask that Family Head Li hand over this enemy of mine. After the matter is done, my Yang family will surely offer a rich reward.”

Li Xingge shook his head and said in a regretful tone, “Please forgive , Senior. If you had co a day earlier, this matter would have been easier to resolve. But now Jiang Dao has already joined my Li Clan and beco one of my Li Clan’s retainers. If I were to hand him over to your clan, my Li Clan would likely lose the trust of others.”

After hearing Li Xingge’s explanation, Yang Zhongze sneered.

“So the hatred of my grandson’s murder is simply to be written off like this?”

“If Senior is willing to spare Jiang Dao this once, my Li Clan is willing to pay a heavy sum in Jiang Dao’s place as compensation.”

Li Xingge said with a smile.

“Though my Yang family has declined, we still possess enough wealth to feed and clothe ourselves.”

Yang Zhongze said coldly.

“Then what does Senior an?”

Li Xingge narrowed his eyes slightly. Deep in his gaze, a flicker of excitent quietly flashed.

Could it be that the Hundred Ghost Banner was about to welco its first honored guest?

He had expected Yang Zhongze to utter a harsh threat.

Instead, Yang Zhongze’s next words left Li Xingge dumbfounded.

“Ahem. This hatred for my slain grandson is not sothing that absolutely must be avenged. So long as Family Head Li is willing to owe my Yang family a favor, then the matter of Jiang Dao killing my grandson can be written off entirely by my Yang family.”

Li Xingge stared blankly.

I thought you were about to make so ruthless declaration, yet this is what you held back?

Although it was regrettable that Yang Zhongze had missed his chance to beco the first soul admitted into the Hundred Ghost Banner for further ‘study,’ Yang Zhongze’s willingness to let Jiang Dao go also saved the Li Clan a great deal of trouble.

Li Xingge pondered for a mont.

“It is not impossible for to owe the Yang family a favor, but it must remain within the bounds of my ability. If it exceeds that, then this favor shall not count.”

He first gave Yang Zhongze a warning in advance. Otherwise, if the Yang family soday blindly provoked so great power, would that not drag him into calamity as well?

Yang Zhongze nodded.

“Please rest assured on that point, Family Head Li. My Yang family will certainly not place Family Head Li in a difficult position. Since Family Head Li has agreed, then the enmity between my Yang family and Jiang Dao shall be wiped away in one stroke.”

With that, he rose to his feet.

“Since this matter has now been settled, I will not further disturb Family Head Li. Please stay here.”

With those words, he turned to leave, and Li Xingge and the elders all rose to escort him out.

Watching the backs of Yang Zhongze and the middle-aged man as they departed, Li Xingge shook his head with a smile.

“He is a person of caliber.”

Outside Qingfeng Valley,

the middle-aged man asked Yang Zhongze in confusion, “Old Ancestor, is the Young Master’s death truly to be let go just like this?”

Yang Zhongze glanced at him and snapped irritably, “Otherwise what? Were you hoping to fight the Li Clan to the bitter end in Qingfeng Valley? If we did, the first to die would probably be you.”

The middle-aged man scratched his head and gave an awkward laugh.

“Speaking of it, I should actually be thanking my dear grandson. If he had not died, how would I ever have had the chance to make such a figure owe my Yang family a favor?”

Hearing this, the middle-aged man widened his eyes. He looked at Yang Zhongze as though he had seen a ghost.

Had not the Old Ancestor always doted on the Young Master the most?

Seeing the expression on the middle-aged man’s face, Yang Zhongze seed to guess what was going on in his head, but he offered no further explanation.

Although the grandson killed by Jiang Dao had indeed been the one he favored most, he still had more than a dozen grandsons.

But Li Xingge, there was only one.

A seventeen-year-old youthful prodigy who had already reached Minor Accomplishnt in the Qi-Blood Realm and had made even him feel trendous pressure—Yang Zhongze could not even begin to imagine how far such a figure would go in the future.

As for the value of owing a favor from such a future great man, Yang Zhongze did not even dare think about it.

If he could make Li Xingge owe the Yang family several more favors, then even if a few more grandsons died, he would not care in the least.

After all, if grandsons were gone, more could still be born.

Young man, you are still too young.
