Chapter 84: The Truth Will Co Out

Dayo’s eyes stayed glued to the big screen. Maya was on stage performing her original song, and he couldn’t help but smile. Her lyrics were clean, deep, and strong. Every line carried emotion.

He muttered under his breath, "Now I understand what it ans to have an S in writing."

When she finished, the crowd went wild. The judges stood up and clapped. It was clear everyone loved her performance.

Dayo joined in, clapping slowly but proudly. He felt happy for her — Maya had worked hard for this.

The next person was Min-Jae. The mont his na was called, loud screams filled the arena, mostly from girls. Min-Jae smiled and waved before sitting at a piano. He took a deep breath and started playing a soft tune.

His song was sad — about losing soone important. The crowd went silent, listening closely as his voice shook with emotion. His eyes watered, but he didn’t stop singing. When he hit the last note, the whole place stood up.

Even one of the judges wiped a tear from her eye.

She asked "what’s the story behind this song? "

Min-Jae smiled and said quietly, "I’ll share the aning of the song another ti." He bowed, and the cheers followed him offstage.

Upon reaching the backstage wity his eyes still red.

Dayo juts hugged and said "They would be proud."

Min-Jae body shook in shock but he relaxed and whispered "Thanks bro "

One after another, other contestants ca up, but it was clear — Dayo’s na was being saved for last.

He sat quietly, his heart calm but his mind sharp. He already knew the crowd would be against him. When his na was finally called, he stood up slowly.

"Yo, Dayo!" Min-Jae said with a grin, pulling him into a hug. "Go out there and show them who you are."

Maya, Emily, and Misha all clapped and shouted, "We believe in you, Dayo!"

He gave a faint smile. "Thanks, guys."

When he stepped on the stage, the reaction ca instantly.

"BOOOOOOO!"

The sound hit hard, loud, and sharp. People pointed at him, yelling things he couldn’t even hear clearly. Caras flashed from all corners.

Dayo didn’t move. His face was calm. He didn’t even blink.

The MC tried to calm the crowd down, but it took nearly a full minute before things went quiet again.

"Alright everyone," the MC said carefully. "Let’s settle down and give him a chance."

One of the judges leaned forward, microphone in hand. "Dayo," he said, "it’s been a rough week for you. How do you feel being here today?"

Dayo looked up, his voice calm but honest. "I can’t really explain it," he said. "But I’ve learned sothing about people. Feelings change fast. The sa crowd that cheers for you one day might turn their backs the next. That’s just how things are."

The crowd went quiet again.

Another judge asked, "So, what made you choose the song you’ll be performing today?"

Dayo smiled a little. "The song chose ," he said. "It ca to

at the right ti."

A judeg then ask "So what’s the na of the song you would be singing and what is it about?"

Dayo adjuated the mic and replied " The na kf the song is The Truth Will Co Out and as for what’s about you would know when I start."

The judges exchanged quick glances, then nodded. "Alright," one said. "We’re ready when you are."

Dayo stepped forward, adjusted the mic stand, and said in a steady voice,

"Today, I want to break a record."

The whole hall buzzed imdiately. People started whispering.

"A record?" Amara a judge asked. "What kind of record?"

"The fastest rap ever perford live," Dayo said.

Everyone froze. Even the judges looked stunned.

"Rap?" one of them asked. "But you’re not a rapper, right?"

"I’m not," Dayo replied with a small grin. "But sotis, life forces you to show sides of yourself you didn’t even know existed."

The crowd murmured again. As they were eager to hear what Dayo had to sing.

Dayo smiled his confidence to breake the record ca from this reward thay he got after Youseef released their song.

[Reward Granted: "Speed Flow" skill activated.]

"Okay Dayo let’s hear it"

He took one last breath, grabbed the mic, and closed his eyes. The lights dimd. A soft piano started in the background.

[Intro – soft piano playing]

"Yeah...

It’s JD.

Guess I just have to say it the way it is.

No rhys. No riddles. Just truth."

Dayo’s voice started soft, almost like a whisper. His eyes were half-closed, and every word ca out heavy, as if he was carrying a load inside his chest. The crowd went silent. Even the lights seed to dim a little.

[Verse 1 – slow spoken tone, light beat]

"I woke up to headlines that didn’t sound like .

Screens flashing, people typing hate like they knew what happened.

They said I hit her.

They said I broke her down.

But they never saw the ssages.

They never saw how she played it.

They just believed the story that made them feel right."

At this part, Dayo’s voice got stronger. He closed his eyes, the veins on his neck showing. Every word felt real, like he was reliving the mont. The crowd listened quietly—no one dared to interrupt.

[Pre-Chorus – piano builds softly]

"I thought my music was enough to show my heart.

Turns out, all it takes is one lie to tear that apart."

[Chorus – emotional delivery]

"You don’t know

like you think you do.

I never raised my hand, I only wrote the truth.

I gave my soul to the world, and they turned away.

Guess betrayal hits harder when it’s the crowd you fed.

But I still believe—

Yeah, I still believe—

The truth will co out soday."

His voice cracked a little here. He didn’t try to hide it. The pain was clear in his tone, and that made it even more powerful. So people in the crowd looked down, feeling guilty for the hate they’d spread.

[Verse 2 – calm, fast rap tone]

"She used to smile when I wrote her songs.

Said my words made her feel seen.

Then she took those sa words

and used them like weapons.

Signed her deal, frad my na,

and watched

drown while she smiled for the cara.

Funny how fa don’t need facts—just noise."

Dayo opened his eyes and looked straight into the crowd. He pointed his finger forward—not in anger, but as if he was reminding them of sothing they all forgot. His voice picked up speed, clear and sharp, hitting every beat with precision.

[Pre-Chorus – lower tone]

"Every headline, every post—

It felt like the world turned into strangers overnight.

I gave ’em my heart, they gave

their judgnt."

[Chorus – stronger drums, full emotion]

"You don’t know

like you think you do.

I never raised my hand, I only wrote the truth.

I gave my soul to the world, and they turned away.

Guess betrayal hits harder when it’s the crowd you fed.

But I still believe—

Yeah, I still believe—

The truth will co out soday."

By now, the arena was completely silent. No one booed, no one whispered. Even those who once shouted against him just stared. His voice sped up more and more, almost too fast to catch, yet still clear. Every line hit deep.

[Bridge – quiet reflection]

"I don’t need revenge.

I don’t need to shout.

I just need ti.

Ti—and the proof I kept safe.

They’ll see it.

They’ll all see it."

[Outro – piano fade]

"’Cause I always knew, deep down,

no lie lasts forever.

And when the truth hits the light—

I’ll be standing right here.

Yeah...

The truth will co out."

[A/N: NF-inspired arrangent]

The final words ca out soft, almost broken.

Dayo’s voice slowed down until only the sound of the piano filled the arena. He finally opened his eyes—red, tired, but strong. Then he took a deep breath.

The crowd didn’t move.

Most just stared at Dayo as their eyes were crimson red with tears flowing.

Dayo didn’t just sing a song. It was his story—raw and painful—and everyone in that hall could feel it.

For the first ti since the scandal started, no one saw him as the villain.

They saw him as a human being.

And in that silence, one truth beca clear—

Dayo had just changed everything.
