Chapter 388: D Square
The news did not spread slowly.
It exploded.
By mid-morning the entire Nigerian internet had already picked up the story, and like most things in the country’s entertainnt space, it had quickly grown into sothing much bigger than the original information.
One photo.
That was all it took.
The image showed Dayo and Davido standing inside a studio room sowhere in Lagos. Davido had one arm casually resting across Dayo’s shoulder while both of them laughed about sothing outside the cara fra. It looked natural, not staged, and that alone was enough to send the internet into a frenzy.
Within minutes the picture had begun circulating across Twitter, Instagram, and dozens of WhatsApp groups.
The caption that followed the photo was simple.
"Dayo x Davido in the studio."
That was enough.
Reactions flooded the internet almost instantly.
"WAIT WAIT WAIT... DAYO AND DAVIDO???"
"This one go scatter internet."
"Afrobeats just leveled up again."

Another replied seconds later.

"D Square all the way."
That na caught on quickly.
Within an hour people across social dia were already referring to the duo as D-Square.

"D-Square loading."
"Two global problems in one studio."
"Afrobeats don go international again."
The jokes kept coming.
Sobody posted a photoshopped picture of Davido and Dayo wearing matching stage outfits with the caption:
"New group unlocked."
Another account wrote:
"Abeg this no be collaboration again. This na world domination."
The conversation grew even louder when fans began dragging other artists into the discussion.
One tweet gained traction quickly.
"Make we no lie... Wizkid no fit pull this kind global link."
That single post opened the door to exactly what everyone expected.
Wizkid FC entered the conversation.
Replies began pouring in under the tweet within seconds.
"Rest. Wizkid no need anybody."
"Wizkid no dey chase collaboration."
"If Wizkid want am, he go happen."
Davido fans imdiately fired back.
"Jealousy dey worry una."
"This one na celebration and una don turn am to competition."
"Abeg enjoy music."
Another fan tried to calm things down.
"Make una relax. Everybody winning."
But it was too late.
The comnt sections had already turned into the usual chaotic mix of fan argunts, jokes, and exaggerated predictions.
Despite the argunts, the overall mood across the internet remained mostly positive.
People were excited.
People were curious.
And most of all, people were waiting.
Waiting for the song.
While fans continued arguing across social dia, the Nigerian blog industry quickly picked up the story.
One of the first major pages to post the news was Instablog.
Their headline appeared across thousands of phones almost instantly.
GLOBAL STAR DAYO SPOTTED IN STUDIO WITH DAVIDO.
The caption beneath it read:
"Sources confirm that international artist Dayo is currently in Lagos working with Davido on what could beco one of the biggest Afrobeats collaborations of the year. Nigerians are already reacting heavily to the news online."
Within minutes the comnt section had exploded.
"This one loud."
"Abeg drop the song today."
"Internet go break."
"Afrobeats to the world again."
Another major entertainnt page followed shortly after with their own post.
Pulse Nigeria wrote a more detailed article explaining the significance of the collaboration.
According to industry insiders, the eting between Davido and Dayo could signal a major cultural mont for Afrobeats as global and African audiences continue to rge through music.
The article continued by describing Dayo’s recent activities, including his growing influence across multiple industries and cultures.
NotJustOk soon followed with their own analysis.
Their headline read:
WHAT DOES DAYO X DAVIDO AN FOR AFROBEATS?
The article discussed how Dayo had already demonstrated unusual versatility across global music markets and how a collaboration with Davido could introduce a fresh sound blending international style with Nigerian rhythm.
While the blogs continued publishing analysis, the Nigerian entertainnt industry itself began reacting.
Producers started tweeting.
Influencers posted reactions.
Other artists joined the conversation.
One popular producer wrote:
"If this song sweet finish, Lagos go shutdown."
"E no go sweet keh Dayo get doings no worry if the song no sweet e no fit feature."
Another musician joked:
"Make una leave small spotlight for the rest of us."
Even so radio hosts began discussing the collaboration during live broadcasts.
"This might be one of the biggest cross-culture collaborations we’ve seen in a while."
"On a serious note this is huge of for Davido for Africa and Afrobeats at large there’s a lot of reasons to this peole don’t understand the first is Davido is Dayo’s feature when it cos ro the whole of African that’s one and two you all have to understand that Dayo hasn’t expected for one and that was his artist and this would be for
this his first official first feature like reread again ’THIS IS DAYO’S FIRST OFFICIAL FEATURE ’ Davido has done it that’s all I have to say."
"Omo brother above said it all and I concur."
Comnts like this were everywhere.
Elsewhere across the city, Shina sat quietly in a chair scrolling through the chaos on his phone.
He had already seen the original picture earlier that morning when Sharon showed it to the team, but watching the reaction from the internet made the situation feel much bigger.
Every blog he opened had a different headline.
Every social dia platform had the sa topic trending.
He refreshed his screen again.
The comnts kept coming.
"D Square dey cook."
"Make this song drop now."
"Lagos go mad."
Shina leaned back slightly and shook his head.
The vlog he was docunting had suddenly beco part of sothing far larger than a simple behind-the-scenes series.
Across Lagos, conversations about the collaboration continued spreading.
So people debated what the song would sound like.
Others speculated about whether the track would mix English, Yoruba, or other languages.
But the most common comnt across the internet was simple.
"Just drop the song."
Later that afternoon, the environnt was much quieter at Davido’s house.
The large compound felt calm despite the storm that was happening online.
Security opened the gate as Dayo’s car pulled inside.
Music played faintly from sowhere deeper inside the house while several people moved casually through the property.
Davido stepped outside shortly after the car arrived.
He was already laughing before Dayo even stepped fully out of the vehicle.
"My guy," Davido said, shaking his head. "You don scatter my country."
Dayo smiled calmly as he walked toward him.
" keh nah two of us nah"
Davido pulled him into a quick half hug before stepping back.
"You see the internet today?"
"Yes."
Davido laughed again.
"Fans don create new group for us already."
"I saw that too."
They walked toward the seating area inside the house where several chairs had been arranged near a large table.
Davido dropped into one of the chairs and leaned back.
"Nigerian fans no dey joke."
Dayo nodded slightly.
"I’ve realized that."
Davido reached for a bottle of water and took a quick drink.
"Everybody dey wait for this song now."
"That’s expected."
Davido placed the bottle down.
"Once this thing drop, everywhere go mad."
Dayo’s expression remained relaxed.
"Then we should make sure it’s good."
Davido nodded.
"That one no be problem."
For a mont both n sat quietly.
The house staff moved around in the background while distant music from another room echoed faintly through the building.
Davido leaned forward slightly.
"So what kind vibe you dey think?"
Dayo considered the question for a mont.
"Sothing natural," he replied. "Sothing people can move to without thinking too much about it."
Davido nodded slowly.
"That works."
"We don’t need to overcomplicate it."
Davido smiled.
"True."
He stood up and stretched his arms briefly.
"The studio dey ready."
Dayo rose from his chair as well.
Shina stood quietly nearby holding his cara, docunting the mont without interrupting.
Davido glanced toward him and laughed.
"See this guy. Everything dey record."
Shina smiled awkwardly.
"Just doing my job."
Davido shook his head with amusent before turning back toward Dayo.
"Co."
He began walking toward the recording room deeper inside the house.
The hallway lights reflected off the polished floor as they approached the studio door.
Davido reached for the handle and pushed it open.
Inside, the studio equipnt waited.
Microphones.
Mixing boards.
Speakers already powered on.
The quiet hum of electronics filled the room.
Davido stepped inside first and looked around.
Then he turned toward Dayo with a grin.
"Make we give them sothing crazy."
Dayo stepped into the room.
And the door closed behind them.
