Chapter 384: Shocking Davido
The room inside the studio was still buzzing with the energy of what had just happened. The beat Dayo had adjusted continued looping softly through the speakers while everyone remained caught between excitent and disbelief. The producer who originally made the beat kept replaying certain parts quietly, almost like he needed to convince himself again that the transformation had truly happened within the last hour.
Dayo stood near the console while Davido looked at him with a mixture of admiration and disbelief. For several seconds Davido said nothing, then he finally laughed again, shaking his head as if the entire situation still felt unreal.
"Guy," he said, still smiling, "you just enter studio co do magic like say na normal thing."
Dayo shrugged lightly. "The beat already had sothing extraordinary thanks to you. I only adjusted it a bit."
Davido opened his mouth to speak again but stopped himself halfway. Sothing else had just registered in his mind.
He looked at Dayo carefully.
Then he rembered what Dayo had just said.
"I would collaborate with you on your song."
Davido froze.
For a mont the room went completely quiet as the aning of those words finally settled in.
"Wait," Davido said slowly. "You serious?"
Dayo nodded without hesitation.
"Yes."
Davido blinked once.
Then again.
His face shifted into pure shock before he suddenly burst out laughing in disbelief and joy.
"Guy, are you for real?"
Dayo looked at him calmly. "Of course."
Davido walked forward quickly, grabbed Dayo by the shoulders, and pulled him into a tight hug.
"Bro!"
His voice carried real emotion.
"You don’t know what this ans to . This ans more than a lot, GUYYY!"
The room around them erupted with cheers and laughter. Several of Davido’s friends slapped the table, while the producers exchanged excited looks with each other. They all knew what it ant for Dayo to feature Davido and how it would impact the song. After all, Dayo was known as a superstar in more than half the countries in the world.
Davido stepped back from the hug but kept holding Dayo’s shoulder.
"JD on my song?"
He shook his head again.
"Omo guy... this is huge."
One of his friends near the wall laughed loudly. "This one go scatter charts."
Another producer nodded excitedly. "This song never even drop and e don big already."
Davido turned back toward Dayo again, still struggling to process the mont.
"I swear I don’t even know how to express how I feel right now," he said honestly. "Singing with JD? Guy... this thing no be small matter."
Dayo smiled slightly but didn’t say anything. He was used to these kinds of reactions, but seeing how genuine Davido’s excitent was made the mont feel different.
Davido took a breath and then suddenly scratched the back of his head.
"Eh... one thing though."
Dayo raised an eyebrow slightly.
Davido hesitated for a second before speaking.
"As for lyrics..."
He paused again.
One of his friends nearby imdiately burst out laughing.
"Just say it, he might know already sef."
Davido shook his head with a grin. "Make I talk truth."
He turned back toward Dayo.
"I no get lyrics yet."
The entire room laughed again.
Davido spread his hands. "Guy I go talk am the way e be. Lyrics writing no be my strongest side and I no wan hire anybody to co spoil this beat wey make sense."
Everyone in the room knew that already, but hearing him say it openly still amused them.
Dayo nodded calmly.
"I know."
Davido looked at him again.
"So for the lyrics..."
Before he could finish the sentence, Dayo waved his hand slightly.
"Don’t worry about that."
Davido frowned with a hint of expectation.
"What you an?"
"I’ll handle the lyrics."
Davido’s eyes widened.
"Wait... you serious?"
Dayo nodded again.
"Yes."
Davido stared at him for a mont, then laughed loudly.
"Ah!"
He pointed at Dayo jokingly.
"I no get your money o."
The room burst into laughter again.
Dayo shook his head. "Relax. I’m not charging you."
Davido’s expression turned surprised again.
"For real?"
"Just take it as a favor."
Davido rubbed his forehead, still trying to understand the situation.
"Guy... I was actually expecting you to ask for sothing big."
Dayo shook his head calmly.
"It’s nothing serious."
Davido looked at him for a long mont before nodding slowly.
"I appreciate this. I really do."
One of Davido’s producers stepped closer and glanced toward the console.
"So the next thing now na lyrics."
Davido nodded.
"Yes."
Then he turned back toward Dayo.
"How long you need?"
Dayo thought for a mont before answering.
"Give
thirty minutes."
Several people in the room blinked.
"Thirty minutes?" one of the producers repeated.
Dayo nodded calmly.
Davido laughed again.
"Guy, you dey joke abi?"
Dayo shook his head.
"I’m serious."
Davido stared at him for another mont before finally nodding. He had been surprised too many tis already and now felt numb.
"Alright then."
He turned toward one of his assistants.
"Benjamin, go bring sothing for JD."
Benjamin nodded imdiately and started walking toward the door.
"Maybe tea or sothing," Davido added.
Dayo stopped him.
"No need."
Davido frowned. "You sure?"
"Just bring
water."
Benjamin nodded and left the room.
The beat continued playing quietly through the speakers while Dayo walked toward one of the chairs near the table. He sat down, pulled a small notebook closer, and began writing.
At first the room stayed noisy.
People whispered among themselves.
So producers replayed parts of the beat again.
Davido paced slowly across the room.
But after a few minutes everyone gradually beca quiet again.
They were watching Dayo work.
He wrote calmly.
His pen moved steadily across the page.
He would pause occasionally, listen to the beat again, then continue writing.
Shina stood nearby filming everything while trying not to breathe too loudly.
He had already captured a lot tonight.
eting Davido.
Watching Dayo rebuild a beat.
Now witnessing him write a song.
Thirty minutes passed.
Then another thirty minutes.
Benjamin returned and quietly placed a bottle of water beside Dayo.
Dayo nodded without looking up.
Davido watched him carefully.
He had worked with many writers before.
He knew what struggling looked like.
This did not look like struggling.
It looked like soone rembering sothing instead of creating it.
Finally Dayo closed the notebook.
He stood up.
"I’m done."
The room reacted imdiately.
"So fast?" one producer asked.
Davido laughed.
"Guy you sure say you no dey hide this song before?"
Dayo shook his head, amused, as it was impossible. After all, he had just heard the beat now. But the reason he was able to write the song in less than thirty minutes was because the beat was sothing similar to what he had heard in his past life, and it was a song of Davido, which was why he didn’t charge him anything and was open to singing on the song as a favor.
"Co and see."
Davido walked closer as Dayo handed him the notebook.
Davido began reading.
At first his expression was curious.
Then his eyes widened slightly.
Then he looked up.
"Mad o."
Several people leaned closer to look at the lyrics.
The room gradually beca silent again.
The words were simple.
But the rhythm inside them was clear.
Davido suddenly slapped the table lightly.
"Bro!"
He looked at Dayo with excitent.
"This song make sense!"
His voice carried pure happiness.
"I swear."
One of the producers nodded while reading the lines again.
"This thing go enter people head imdiately."
Davido was almost bouncing with excitent now.
"Guy you dey give
joy."
The happiness in his voice was obvious.
"This song sweet!"
Shina zood his cara slightly closer.
Even he could feel how powerful the mont was becoming.
Davido looked at the lyrics again before suddenly turning back toward the console.
"Alright."
He looked at everyone in the room.
"Make we run this thing."
The producer quickly loaded the beat again.
Davido stepped toward the microphone.
But before recording he looked back at Dayo.
"Guy I no even know how to thank you for this."
Dayo waved his hand lightly.
"Just make the song good."
Davido nodded.
"Sure nah, that one nah small thing."
They spent the next hour reviewing the lyrics, adjusting certain lines, and discussing how the song should be perford. The energy in the room continued rising as everyone slowly realized they were witnessing sothing special forming in real ti.
At one point Davido sat down beside Dayo again.
"You know sothing?" he said.
"What?"
"If sobody tell
say this thing go happen today, I for think say na content."
Several people laughed.
Davido continued.
"But seeing everything with my own eyes... crazy."
Dayo smiled but didn’t respond.
Davido suddenly looked around the room.
Then his eyes landed on Shina.
The caraman had been quietly recording the entire session from the corner.
Davido pointed toward him.
"Wait."
Shina froze.
Davido walked closer.
"What’s your na again?"
"Shina," he replied nervously.
Davido nodded.
"Yes."
Then he asked calmly.
"How your videography skills be?"
Shina blinked in surprise.
"I... I believe say I’m good."
Davido crossed his arms.
"I’ve seen your videos."
Shina looked shocked.
"You have?"
Davido nodded.
"Yes."
He pointed toward the cara Shina was holding.
"You’ve been recording everything since we started."
Shina nodded slowly.
"Yes."
Davido smiled.
"Good."
Then he said sothing that instantly changed the atmosphere of the room.
"For this song..."
Everyone waited.
"You go direct the music video."
The studio went completely silent.
Shina nearly dropped the cara.
His mouth opened but no words ca out.
Davido looked at him calmly.
"I’m serious."
Shina looked toward Dayo, then back toward Davido again.
He still couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
The cara in his hand trembled slightly.
And that was exactly where the mont froze.
