So, chatting with Bai Yanliang is actually quite a boring thing.

Ren Wudao lost his smile, looked out the window, and stopped talking.

But Tang Guo, the newly employed young policewoman, looked at Bai Yanliang with admiration in her eyes.

It took quite so ti to find out Lei Dongming’s residence, and by the ti the three of them drove to his house, it was almost five in the afternoon.

"Wow... really wealthy." Tang Guo looked up at the high-end apartnt located in the city center in amazent.

"This is just one of his residences closest to Yunhua Trade, nothing special." Ren Wudao’s expression didn’t change. In fact, it’s better to say he’s also filthy rich, so he naturally didn’t find anything impressive.

The three took the elevator all the way up and stopped at the top floor.

"Ding-dong..."

After ringing the doorbell, soone quickly ca to open the door.

"Who are you?" The door opened, revealing the face of a woman in her forties. Crow’s feet touched her eyes, yet her long hair remained thick and black. Her single eyelids didn’t make her eyes sharp but rather manifested a gentle resilience.

"Is Lei Dongming at ho?" Tang Guo was soone who spoke straightforwardly.

This was sothing Bai Yanliang appreciated, as she, like him, said whatever was on her mind, without beating around the bush or lying.

The woman looked at the three of them in surprise. Maybe because they were all young and appeared righteous, she couldn’t help but let her guard down a bit.

"He... is on a business trip, left this morning."

"What?" Tang Guo exclaid in shock.

A murder took place yesterday at noon, and he left for a business trip this morning, which is textbook behavior for a guilty conscience.

"May I ask... Is sothing wrong with Dongming?" The woman’s gentle gaze fell on the three of them as she asked sowhat uneasily.

Tang Guo looked at her with difficulty, shook her head with closed lips: "No... nothing! We’ll go first, sorry for the intrusion!"

After speaking, she hurriedly took the lead to leave, muttering as she walked: "Oh no, oh no, the suspect has fled..."

But Bai Yanliang and Ren Wudao obviously didn’t see it that way.

"Don’t worry, if Lei Dongming really went on a business trip, then he’s definitely not the murderer," Ren Wudao kindly said.

"Why?"

"Think about it, would soone who dared to commit murder in broad daylight and then abandon the body in a park be so timid afterward?"

It made sense... After pondering, Tang Guo also realized.

At this point, Bai Yanliang glanced at the ti on his phone and suddenly said, "Sorry, I have to go first."

Just as the two reacted, they could only see Bai Yanliang’s hurriedly departing figure.

Ren Wudao just wanted to chase after him but was held back by Tang Guo: "No way! Mr. Ren, you must co back to the police station with to write a report!"

Ren Wudao widened his eyes, anxiously, "I’m not even a police officer!"

However... this ti he couldn’t shake off this sowhat angry and straightforward young policewoman.

...

No. 96 Yunhua Road.

Bai Yanliang, who hurried here, realized that No. 96 Yunhua Road was not only a location but also the na of a café by the riverbank.

The night view here was beautiful, all riverside buildings were adorned with colorful neon lights, and a sightseeing boat slowly drifted by on the water, trailing triangular waves that stirred up large ripples.

Yu Sheng sat at the riverbank, gazing at the opposite shore with a dazed expression, holding a cup of hot coffee in her hands. Though the river wind was a bit cold, it had a unique flavor.

Not here yet.

She took out her phone and looked at the ti, so... was it only 6:30?

Yu Sheng’s face felt a bit hot, which was strange... even though the river wind was so cold...

Just as Yu Sheng was about to put down her phone, she suddenly heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind.

Is he here?

A trace of joy flashed through her heart. She turned her head to look with subconscious anticipation, only to see a slender arm quickly snatch away her phone and turn to run.

A thief!

Yu Sheng almost instinctively grabbed the thief’s clothing.

This guy wasn’t too strong; otherwise, he wouldn’t have targeted Yu Sheng, who was sitting in a wheelchair.

Now, tangled by Yu Sheng, he beca increasingly flustered and anxious. Fortunately, Yu Sheng did not scream or shout, but just silently held onto his clothes without letting go.

"Let go, you damn cripple!"

His voice was exasperated, and Yu Sheng bit her lip, remaining silent.

The thief, driven to desperation, pulled sothing from his waist, tugging Yu Sheng off balance, and then fiercely aid it at her!

Yu Sheng lost her balance and was about to fall off her wheelchair.

At this mont, an arm swiftly reached over, expertly wrapping around her waist.

And the other hand seed to have grasped the thief’s wrist.

"Leave the phone."

Bai Yanliang’s voice sounded in Yu Sheng’s ear; she looked up and saw... his familiar profile again.

The thief quickly let go, dropped the phone, and ran away.

Yu Sheng felt her body placed back into the wheelchair, under the dim lights, her eyes flickered: "You... you’re here..."

"Hmm."

Bai Yanliang stood in front of her, one hand behind his back.

Yu Sheng’s gaze shifted and suddenly noticed black dots gradually appearing on the ground.

What is that? She looked in confusion, quickly freezing in realization.

Her gaze was fixated on Bai Yanliang’s left hand, which had been hidden behind his back.

Just now... it seed the thief had stabbed sothing...

"You’re hurt!"

Yu Sheng instinctively reached out and pulled out Bai Yanliang’s left arm.

"It’s nothing, just a scratch," Bai Yanliang said calmly.

But under the light, Yu Sheng saw that his left forearm was covered in blood, having been slashed by the thief’s knife.

Yu Sheng’s hands trembled slightly; she wanted to say sothing but found herself choked with words, unable to speak.

The sight of blood continuously dripping from Bai Yanliang’s arm to the ground, the once-bright red blood turning into black blossoms under the night sky, pierced Yu Sheng’s eyes.

She took out a pack of tissues, gently pressed them on Bai Yanliang’s wound.

His arm was cold, but the blood was warm.

This pressure didn’t last long before Bai Yanliang took the tissues and pressed the wound himself.

"Did you need sothing?"

He looked at Yu Sheng calmly.

Yu Sheng opened her mouth, then lightly shook her head.

"No... I just... wanted to see you."

Bai Yanliang was a bit puzzled, didn’t they just et at Wuji?

"You should go to the hospital..." Yu Sheng said softly with her head down.

"It’s fine, there’s soone at ho who’ll take care of it."

Yu Sheng’s body trembled, looking up at Bai Yanliang: "You... girlfriend?"

Bai Yanliang looked at her in surprise, shook his head: "Of course not, he’s my landlord, a doctor."

Forensic... should be good at suturing. This thought fleetingly crossed Bai Yanliang’s mind.

Yu Sheng inexplicably felt relieved, but as her gaze swept over Bai Yanliang’s wound again, it was tinged with apology.

"I’m sorry, it’s all because of ..."

Bai Yanliang looked at her, thought for a while, then said, "Then... treat to a al, and we’ll call it even."
