Thirteenth floor...

Should we press this button?

Feng Xiuxue and Gu Pingsheng were thinking.

A mont later, they made the sa decision, not to press it.

"Let’s just leave it like this for now. Since things haven’t gotten worse, let’s maintain the status quo."

Feng Xiuxue said as she carefully observed every corner of the elevator.

"Mm."

Gu Pingsheng nodded, but his mind was preoccupied with sothing else.

"Miss Feng, don’t you think sothing’s strange?"

Gu Pingsheng asked.

Feng Xiuxue looked at him with slight confusion. In such a dangerous situation, he had the leisure to find sothing strange?

But she saw Gu Pingsheng saying, "If there’s been a fierce ghost in this apartnt all along, then before we arrived, these ghosts should have already been preying on humans. Against a ghost, humans have almost no power to resist, so there would be a large number of missing person cases in this apartnt. Once that number grows significant, public opinion can’t be suppressed. But... it seems like nothing ever happened in this apartnt?"

Gu Pingsheng continued, "Moreover, recently we’ve been encountering paranormal events in reality, which seems like so abnormality is invading reality. But they don’t seem to be interested in ordinary people. The whole world is as calm as ever, with no reports of paranormal events. I’m wondering... could it be that we’re their only targets?"

Feng Xiuxue looked at Gu Pingsheng in surprise, neither nodding nor denying.

What she knew was far more than Gu Pingsheng, in fact, she knew a lot of astonishing truths, thanks to her experiences and... her key.

"Never mind that, let’s think about how to get out of this situation now."

Feng Xiuxue’s heart felt like it was gripped by a hand, suppressingly uncomfortable.

She had a mild case of claustrophobia, although the symptoms weren’t severe, they still greatly affected her state.

At that mont, Gu Pingsheng suddenly picked up his phone and dialed the ergency rescue line in the elevator.

Soon, the call went through.

"Hello, we’re trapped in the elevator..."

"Yes, it’s the temporarily out-of-service elevator."

"...Thanks a lot."

Gu Pingsheng hung up the phone, "It’s fine now, staff will be here soon."

"Just like that?"

Feng Xiuxue felt like laughing, did he really think supernatural phenona were that simple?

If it can’t be opened from the inside, can it be opened from the outside?

"Mm."

Gu Pingsheng seed to know what Feng Xiuxue was thinking, explaining, "This ghost isn’t too scary."

Feng Xiuxue stared at him, wanting to see how he reached that conclusion.

Gu Pingsheng adjusted his glasses, "Of course, if we really pressed any button and reached the thirteenth floor, it would beco very terrifying."

He smiled and continued, "I personally saw its hand when you got pushed into the elevator, its hand was already on your shoulder, obviously, it’s right beside us."

As he spoke, Gu Pingsheng looked around thoughtfully.

"It’s impossible for two people to exceed the weight limit in an elevator. Besides malfunction, it only ans... there’s sothing else here."

"Listen."

Gu Pingsheng slightly closed his eyes and listened intently.

Copying his action, Feng Xiuxue closed her eyes with skepticism.

"Hoo..."

The elevator was very quiet, so quiet you could even hear breathing.

Wait...

There was an extra breath!

Feng Xiuxue suddenly turned around, looking towards where the breathing sound ca from, but there was no one there!

She felt her body stiffen slightly.

There was a ghost in the elevator, and... it might be watching them. Just thinking about this made Feng Xiuxue’s heart race.

Gu Pingsheng looked calm.

The first ti he encountered a similar paranormal event in reality was at the hospital where he worked. Even though there were only five floors, he inexplicably reached the sixth floor.

That ti... he witnessed true horror.

The sixth floor was actually a world of the dead!

So, when he discovered the controversy between the twenty-sixth and twenty-fifth floors in this building, Gu Pingsheng imdiately dismissed the idea of going upstairs.

He was very suspicious that whether it was the thirteenth floor or the twenty-sixth floor, they were other worlds... where once you go, you don’t co back.

However, what made him resolute to stay in the elevator and figure sothing out was another matter.

"It can touch your shoulder, push you into the elevator, can beco invisible, seal this elevator, change all the buttons, with so many paranormal phenona it causes, why doesn’t it just kill us outright?"

Gu Pingsheng said.

Then, he looked towards a corner of the elevator.

"I think it’s because it can’t."

"This fierce ghost may only be able to start the slaughter when the elevator carries us to its floor."

"It can change all the buttons, but only we can push them. Fortunately, the ergency button, though altered, still has the sa ergency number and the signal wasn’t jamd. We just have to wait for outside rescue."

Gu Pingsheng spoke calmly, even tentatively probing the exact location of the fierce ghost.

Feng Xiuxue was inevitably sowhat skeptical.

Could it really... be this simple?

But upon further reflection, she discovered the truly terrifying part.

This was a deadlock... as long as any button inside the elevator was pressed, the entire elevator would start and then reach that terrifying floor.

In other words, once any button was pressed, both she and Gu Pingsheng were fated to die.

There was no room for maneuver, no margin for error.

A quiet dread crept in...

At this mont, the elevator door was suddenly knocked on.

"Is anyone inside?"

As soon as the elevator door was knocked, they imdiately felt the eerie atmosphere inside the elevator abruptly disappear.

Gu Pingsheng promptly responded, "Yes!"

The workers outside shouted, "Don’t worry! We’ll handle it right away!"

The sound could be transmitted out!

Both Feng Xiuxue and Gu Pingsheng finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The paranormal phenonon disappeared.

...

Bai Yanliang carefully put away Xu Zhifei’s father’s key and said, "Who do you think broke into your ho?"

Xu Zhifei shook his head slightly, "No clue."

Bai Yanliang raised an eyebrow and asked, "Who knows your address?"

Xu Zhifei looked at him, "Anyone determined to find out wouldn’t have a hard ti; it doesn’t matter who knows."

This was indeed the case.

Bai Yanliang mused inwardly, if it were soone from Dark Abyss, with their unpredictable thods, finding out Xu Zhifei’s address should be easy.

But then, why did He Yige attack by the river bank? Does it an He Yige isn’t with Dark Abyss? Or was the intruder in Xu Zhifei’s ho not from Dark Abyss?

As Bai Yanliang was pondering, Xu Zhifei suddenly thought of sothing and stared directly at him.

"You."
