Jiang Li took off her shoes and cautiously stepped onto Bai Yanliang's shoulders, but... she clearly underestimated Bai Yanliang's strength.

Although Bai Yanliang looked of normal build, his body was well-trained. If he were to take off his clothes, Jiang Li would have no unnecessary worries.

"Ah..."

Jiang Li let out a light exclamation as the shoulders she was standing on suddenly rose up. Bai Yanliang effortlessly stood upright.

He's so strong...

A strange thought suddenly flashed through Jiang Li's mind.

"Can you reach it, Miss Jiang?"

Bai Yanliang's call brought Jiang Li back to her senses. She quickly grabbed the top edge of the water tank, stood on tiptoe, and used her arms forcefully.

Fortunately, Jiang Li was not a newcor in Fog Gathering. To survive, everyone there desperately trained their bodies after the first ti, as sotis just running a little faster made the difference between life and death.

So, Jiang Li's physique wasn't bad.

Her body slowly rose, her right hand grasping the lid at the top of the water tank, gradually applying force.

The lid wasn't locked; with a little effort, it gradually opened to reveal a gap.

Jiang Li swallowed her saliva and cautiously stretched her head out to look inside the water tank.

It's a bit cold...

A bit dark...

Apart from that, there seed to be nothing unusual.

However, just as Jiang Li was thinking this, the water in the tank began to churn!

In almost an instant, a pale corpse floated up from the bottom of the tank!

Jiang Li's eyes widened. She forced herself to look past the fear and nausea.

It was a woman.

A massive woman!

To be precise, it was a massive corpse!

A wave of nausea surged up. Jiang Li only glanced briefly, and her stomach turned violently with acid.

The female corpse in the tank was severely decomposed, her face swollen, her eyes bulging, and her lips pale from soaking.

Her chest and abdon seed to be filled with water, bulging like a ball. Her limbs were swollen from soaking, making them fat and thick, and her skin, like jelly, appeared ready to burst with a gentle poke.

But strangely, such a disgusting, decomposed corpse had no stench whatsoever?

"Put down!" Jiang Li hurriedly shouted.

Bai Yanliang didn't know what she saw but, hearing the urgency in her voice, quickly let her down.

Jiang Li imdiately climbed down from Bai Yanliang's shoulders, not even bothering to put on her shoes as she rushed to the side, while Bai Yanliang and Xu Zhi'an looked at her.

She was bent over, dry heaving.

Since she hadn't eaten anything, all she vomited was so stomach acid.

After she managed to regain her composure, she said with a pale face, "It was a woman's corpse. It's unrecognizable, completely swollen from soaking."

Upon hearing Jiang Li's words, Bai Yanliang showed no visible reaction, but Xu Zhi'an suddenly began to vomit at the thought of breakfast.

Could the damned hotel have been using water from the tank?

"Miss Jiang, is there only one corpse?" Bai Yanliang seriously asked as he looked at her.

Jiang Li confird with a nod.

Bai Yanliang then glanced at the other two adjacent water tanks and said, "Then... I'll have to trouble you two more tis."

Jiang Li shook her head slightly; the trouble was really on Bai Yanliang.

She forced down the discomfort in her stomach and stepped onto Bai Yanliang's shoulder again, looking at the second water tank.

Unlike before, this ti the corpse wasn't suddenly floating up. Jiang Li saw it floating in the tank at first glance.

"Brother Xu! It's him! The distorted ghost you ntioned earlier!" Jiang Li, holding back her nausea, carefully looked at the male corpse and imdiately exclaid upon seeing his face.

Earlier, Xu Zhi'an said he was blocked by two ghosts, one of which disguised itself as Bai Yanliang, but "his" true face was that of a man with a smashed, bloody face, his features completely battered.

After letting Jiang Li down again, she was much better this ti. Though still dry heaving, at least she wasn't vomiting anymore.

Only the last water tank remained. If there was another woman's corpse inside, things would beco clear.

Jiang Li was now familiar with the process, quickly and deftly pushing open the water tank while standing on Bai Yanliang's shoulders.

This ti, even though she was prepared, everything in front of her left her unprepared.

"Huh? There's nothing in this water tank!"

Jiang Li said while double-checking once more.

But... there truly was nothing.

The dimly lit water tank was filled with water. There wasn't even any floating debris, let alone a body.

Damn.

Bai Yanliang's mind raced, realizing there was a flaw in his reasoning.

Things... might not be that simple?

After letting Jiang Li down, she put on her shoes and exchanged glances with Xu Zhi'an.

The two didn't know why Bai Yanliang's expression suddenly changed, as such an evident emotional shift was very unusual for Bai Yanliang.

After all, he was the kind of person who could even fake a smile when encountering a ghost.

"Mr. Bai, is there a problem?"

Xu Zhi'an thought for a mont and asked.

Bai Yanliang, upon hearing this, snapped back to reality and nodded.

He looked at the two and said, "There are three ghosts and only two corpses. One is missing."

Jiang Li and Xu Zhi'an exchanged another look, seeing the confusion in each other's eyes. Yes, one was missing, but what did that imply?

Bai Yanliang saw their incomprehension and explained, "Our fundantal purpose in investigating the ghosts is to find their only weakness, to clarify their cause of death and the weapon. The ghost would fear the thing that killed it. But now, since two bodies were found in the water tank, it suggests that both deaths might have been by the sa hand, or, one person was killed, disposed of in the tank, then found by another who then mimicked the cri, disposing of the second body into the tank as well."

By the ti Bai Yanliang finished speaking, the two understood his aning.

The third body, another woman's corpse, had not been found!

Who was she killed by?

And how did she die?

Even according to Bai Yanliang's second hypothesis, there was still one murderer missing!

Seeing Jiang Li and the slightly weakened Xu Zhi'an fall into contemplation, Bai Yanliang did not speak further.

However, he had one more speculation he hadn't shared.

Which is why?

Why did all three deceased people beco ghosts?

Was there sothing wrong with this place, or was it just how the rules of Fog Gathering were?

If it was an issue with this place, then the people who died on the land of Ruyi Hotel would definitely not just be three throughout history!

So... it wasn't that there was an innate issue with Ruyi Hotel. Instead, sothing happened later that caused those who died here to beco fierce ghosts?

Bai Yanliang frowned slightly. If others in Fog Gathering learned of his thoughts, they'd surely label him a madman.

Because... he was actually probing the origins of ghosts!
