"What are you doing?! This is a cri!"

The stationery store clerk glared angrily at Bai Yanliang, holding tightly onto his arm.

Bai Yanliang looked at her helplessly, saying nothing.

He had tried to ask nicely to check the surveillance footage, but failed to gain the clerk’s consent.

So... he climbed over the wall, planning to go through the back door to check the footage and leave without anyone knowing.

However, Bai Yanliang never expected the computer to be even more complicated than a phone. After so random clicking, not only did he fail to access the footage, but he also attracted the attention of the clerk...

"I’m investigating a case..."

Bai Yanliang explained in a low voice.

"What case? Where’s your ID?"

"I left in a hurry and didn’t bring it..."

"No ID ans you don’t have it! You swindler! Thief! Let’s go to the police station!"

No ID ans you don’t have it...

This familiar line reminded Bai Yanliang of his elentary school teacher, back then he thought howork was so simple to the point of stupidity, so he didn’t do it.

Whenever the teacher asked, he always said he forgot to bring it.

And every ti the teacher would say... not bringing it ans you didn’t do it...

"Xiao Die, what’s all the fuss about?"

As they were speaking, the owner of the stationery store ca out.

"Mr. Bai?"

Upon hearing this voice, Bai Yanliang sensed an indescribable strangeness, because the person coming was the store owner, who was also the owner of rcury Night, Xun Weimo.

So this store’s owner was him as well...

Bai Yanliang suddenly realized that he should have guessed it was him when he saw the special little freebies.

"Boss, do you know this thief?"

The clerk nad Xiao Die asked Xun Weimo, holding onto Bai Yanliang suspiciously.

Xun Weimo told her to let go, smiling, "It’s a misunderstanding, Mr. Bai is my friend."

Xiao Die looked at Bai Yanliang doubtfully, then at Xun Weimo.

Since her boss had spoken, she thought, you all can do whatever you want...

"Mr. Bai, what a coincidence."

Xun Weimo smiled and said.

Bai Yanliang tidied his clothes and got straight to the point, "Can I check the surveillance footage from the past few days?"

However, this ti, Xun Weimo shook his head apologetically, "Sorry Mr. Bai, actually the surveillance in this store... is fake."

"Because it’s a stationery store, there’s nothing valuable, so we didn’t really install caras."

Bai Yanliang nodded, such petty cri prevention was not uncommon.

He was about to leave but suddenly received a phone call.

The caller was Tang Guo.

"Master! You better hide quickly! They say you’re a suspect, and they’re searching the whole city for you!"

Tang Guo’s voice was loud and urgent, even Xun Weimo standing across from Bai Yanliang seed to hear it.

He looked at Bai Yanliang with a strange gaze but did nothing.

"What’s going on?"

Bai Yanliang was dumbfounded by Tang Guo’s abrupt statent. A suspect?

?

"Oh no! There’s no ti! It’s that kid from the headquarters, he says you’re the bomber this ti, and if he’s wrong, he’ll kneel and apologize, quitting his job, now everyone believes him and wants to catch you!"

Kid from the headquarters?

The image of a young man in a white suit appeared in Bai Yanliang’s mind.

Actually, when he first t him, Bai Yanliang pretty much figured him out.

For example, though he didn’t wear glasses, he was highly near-sighted. Also, he had mild germophobia and disliked physical contact. Moreover... among the people sent by headquarters this ti, although Wu Kuifeng was nominally in charge, in reality, this young man was probably the one with the most authority, or to put it another way, the highly authoritative Wu Kuifeng valued his opinion greatly.

A person’s attitude towards another can often be seen in subtle body language.

Wu Kuifeng had an almost unreserved trust in that young man.

Understanding the situation, Bai Yanliang knew things were troubleso.

However, he thanked Tang Guo first.

"Thank you, Tang Guo. I’ll be fine, don’t worry."

Then, Bai Yanliang quickly hung up the phone; he had to leave here as soon as possible.

Even though Tang Guo had co to inform him, Bai Yanliang was almost certain that Tang Guo’s call was tacitly approved by Wu Kuifeng and company.

Because then, they could use technical ans to trace the signal source of Bai Yanliang.

"Sorry, I have sothing to do, I need to leave first."

"Hey!" Xun Weimo suddenly grabbed Bai Yanliang and, smiling, said, "Do you trust , Mr. Bai?"

Bai Yanliang glanced back at him; Xun Weimo’s expression didn’t show a hint of flaw.

"Do you know my troubles, Mr. Xun?"

Xun Weimo pointed to his own ears and smiled proudly, "I’m quite ordinary in every aspect, just my hearing is one or two tis better than average."

It seems he did hear the conversation.

But this also solved a doubt Bai Yanliang had.

When he, He Yige, and Yu Sheng went to rcury Night to look for clues about the missing Ren Wudao, this young owner had ntioned that he inadvertently heard that mysterious one-fingered suit man’s ntion of the words Xiaqiao Street.

Back then, Bai Yanliang had kept his doubts to himself, because the bar counter and the mysterious man’s seat were far apart, and unless shouting, it was hard to "inadvertently" hear.

"It seems Boss Xun has heard more unintentionally than I imagined."

Bai Yanliang implied.

Now that he admitted his exceptional hearing, it ant he intentionally listened to the conversation between the mysterious one-fingered man and Ren Wudao that night, instead of hearing it by chance.

And he didn’t just hear that one sentence.

Bai Yanliang believed that he heard every detail of the conversation between Ren Wudao and the mysterious man.

Yet he pretended to know nothing.

"Sigh, hearing others’ secrets is not a good thing, Mr. Bai, you know? Either you know no secrets, or... you know as many secrets as possible. Otherwise... it could bring death..." The last few words, Xun Weimo said quietly.

"If Mr. Bai wants to know sothing, you can also exchange secrets, but of course... it has to be at rcury Night." Xun Weimo winked at him.

"As a new custor’s gift, I can temporarily provide Mr. Bai a hideout, how about it? Does Mr. Bai trust ?"

Bai Yanliang looked at Xun Weimo. Although he knew from their first eting that this young owner was no simple figure, the turn of events still caught him off guard.

This Boss Xun... truly seems like a man of remarkable abilities.

The bar nad rcury Night also wasn’t as simple as He Yige said.

But then again, if it was really that simple, why would the mysterious one-fingered man go there to discuss matters?

With this thought, Bai Yanliang stopped his action of imdiately leaving.

"Then, I’ll trouble you, Boss Xun."

Xun Weimo laughed heartily, "My pleasure."
