Yunhua City Ard Command Center.

Multiple computers and other instrunts were placed in the hall. The Commander stood on the platform, pacing anxiously back and forth.

"Has the triangulation of that shrieking sound still not been completed?"

"Currently, we can only confirm it's sowhere in the NK District in the southern part of the city. We haven't been able to pinpoint the exact location yet."

"If that shriek sounds just one more ti, we'll be able to locate the precise position within a minute!"

"Is that so." The Commander gave an order, "Have the ard squads head to the NK District first and stand by. Once the specific location is pinpointed, notify them imdiately."

As the Commander's words fell, soone reported via radio, "Commander, six individuals claiming to be from Squad Three have appeared. Should we permit them entry into the command room?"

Hearing "Squad Three," the Commander imdiately replied, "Grant them access."

He had previously received a notification from higher-ups. "Squad Three" was a special unit stationed in Yunhua City, possessing high-level authority. The local ard squads were required to cooperate with and support their operations.

The large door opened, and a group of six people walked in. All six looked very young, none over thirty, and two or three even appeared to be under twenty.

A man at the forefront stepped forward and said to the Commander, "Hey, have you found the location of the 'Shrieker' yet?"

This condescending tone sowhat displeased the Commander, but considering the orders from above, he suppressed his anger and said, "Not yet. We've only confird it's in the NK District so far."

"Only narrowed it down to the district? The efficiency is really low." The man said with dissatisfaction, "Whatever, we'll head over first. Notify us imdiately through the comms channel if there's any new information!"

After speaking, the man left with the other five. Once the six were gone, a crew-cut adjutant couldn't help but curse, "What the hell! Why should we listen to these brats?!"

The Commander said in a low voice, "Assisting and cooperating with their operations is an order from higher-ups. We can only obey. Just notify them once we pinpoint the exact location of the shrieking sound."

"What's so special about them? Were all the Ascension Coins required for centralized allocation poured into them?" The adjutant's tone carried a hint of skepticism, "So soldiers are already unhappy about this."

"I know." The Commander said, "Now is not the ti for complaints. Let's complete the mission first. If there are any grievances, write a formal report after the rules end. I'll submit them all together."

...

"...Thank you?"

Faced with Shi Jingyi's complint about his na, Guan Tong really didn't know how to respond besides saying thank you.

Shi Jingyi glanced at the Silver Hunt in his hand. This scattergun, with its unique design and material, clearly looked like a Terminal product.

"Is that your Mind Power item? Its power is formidable. Even if I hadn't co, you could have easily handled these living dead, right?"

Guan Tong's heart stirred. If others believed this gun was his Mind Power item, it would actually help him conceal his true Mind Power item, the [Wordless Book].

And speaking of this, he was also sowhat curious about Shi Jingyi's exaggerated combat performance earlier.

"The martial arts you displayed earlier, is that so kind of Mind Power skill?"

Shi Jingyi raised an eyebrow slightly, "Over twenty years of bitter training through winter and sumr, these fists and feet weren't easily exchanged for."

"..."

"However," Shi Jingyi added, "Without the enhancent of Mind Power, my martial arts wouldn't have such power either."

"Mind Power can enhance martial arts?"

Shi Jingyi nodded, raising her right hand and spreading her palm open.

"The thods of utilizing Mind Power are diverse. Apart from consumption related to items, it can also be used to strengthen oneself."

As she spoke, Guan Tong saw a faint layer of flowing light appear on her palm, then spread to her fingers and wrist.

His pupils contracted sharply, "Mind Power can actually be used like this?"

He had always believed that Mind Power could only be used for consumption related to items or abilities. He had never considered that Mind Power itself could be applied directly to the body without any dium, used purely as a form of energy... No, that's not right.

It wasn't that Guan Tong hadn't thought of it; he had simply never heard of anyone being able to do it. No one on the internet ever ntioned it; even in the official White Paper, the entry for Mind Power contained no related records!

Could it be that only Shi Jingyi could use Mind Power purely as energy to strengthen her body?

As if seeing through Guan Tong's thoughts, Shi Jingyi said calmly, "The way of application lies within one's mind. However, to use this power like I do, one must also learn how to circulate Qi and lay a foundation."

"Circulating Qi..."

"You'll understand soon enough." Shi Jingyi didn't explain further. She looked at the nurous living dead corpses in the warehouse and sighed.

Guan Tong rembered that after Shi Jingyi broke through the rolling shutter door to enter the warehouse, she had said, "I'm too late."

It sounded like she had specifically rushed here to save soone.

As he suspected, Shi Jingyi soon found the corpse of a young woman among the many living dead bodies. The latter's body was only half remaining; the other half had been destroyed by the explosion, precisely from Guan Tong's earlier Type 3 Ammunition round.

Shi Jingyi silently gazed at the corpse for a mont, a look of deep sorrow appearing on her fair, heroic face.

Guan Tong asked, "She was..."

"She was an apprentice from the martial arts school. I rushed here imdiately after receiving her distress call, but I was still too late."

Guan Tong was just about to say sothing like "My condolences" when he suddenly heard a series of "creak, creak" sounds from above!

He and Shi Jingyi looked up simultaneously. They saw a tal panel on the warehouse roof being pried open by a giant claw, followed by a basketball-sized crimson eyeball peering in, its bloody gaze sweeping over the two people inside the warehouse.

The Matriarch Converter!

Guan Tong imdiately determined that this must be the "Matriarch Converter"! It was indeed in this industrial park, and the commotion from the warehouse was likely too loud, attracting it over!

"What kind of monster is that?"

Shi Jingyi frowned. Guan Tong, anwhile, imdiately raised his gun muzzle, aiming at that crimson eyeball.

"Boom!"

Without any hesitation, he fired the most powerful round he had, a Type 3 Ammunition!

The explosion instantly blasted a large hole in the warehouse roof, but the monster's figure had vanished. Guan Tong's heart sank, knowing the latter must have reacted with extre speed and dodged!

But in the next mont, that colossal monster suddenly leaped down from the large hole, a long, sharp foreclaw slashing towards Shi Jingyi's head!

Thud!

At the critical mont, Shi Jingyi clenched both fists. With her body as the center, a pale white energy shield rapidly ford. When the monster's foreclaw touched it, it was instantly repelled by a staggering force!

Was this also an application of Mind Power? Generating a 360-degree protective shield? How much Mind Power would such a perfect, no-blind-spot defense consu in one use?

While shocked, Guan Tong also got a clear look at the monster, the "Matriarch Converter's" form.

If given the choice, he would rather not have seen it clearly. Because the mont he saw it clearly, he felt extrely nauseous, almost dry heaving.

This "Matriarch Converter" was completely a monster pieced together from countless corpses!

Its basketball-sized single eye was actually dozens of pairs of pale red living dead eyes strung together in circles with hair. Below it, the bloated body was also pieced together from multiple living dead bodies. That several-ter-long giant claw had its middle section composed of multiple colons twisted together, while the claw tips were made of human fingernails and teeth.

This "Matriarch Converter," assembled from countless living dead corpses, made Guan Tong feel extrely physically repulsed. He imdiately pulled the trigger, firing five consecutive Type 2 slugs!

The "Matriarch Converter," whose claw had just been repelled by Shi Jingyi's "energy shield," hadn't adjusted its posture yet. However, it seed to sense the threat from Guan Tong's bullets and swiftly rolled backward.

"Thud! Thud!"

Three of the five Type 2 rounds missed, while two struck its body. These slugs, capable of blasting through a tree trunk, also tore two large holes in its body!

But before Guan Tong could feel any joy, the "Matriarch Converter" imdiately grabbed a few living dead corpses from the ground, stuffed them into the large holes blasted open by the slugs on its body, and after a wriggling motion, they rapidly fused together.

This sight made both Guan Tong and Shi Jingyi's hearts shudder.

If this monster could heal itself like this, then wouldn't the hundreds of scattered living dead remains in the entire warehouse all beco its "health packs"?!
