December 24th.

In the early morning hours, the mont Shin regained consciousness, he found himself in an unfamiliar location sowhere.

He was bound all over, unable to move.

"Awake."

Guan Tong's voice rang out.

Shin looked up and saw the guy standing not far in front of him.

Standing beside Guan Tong was also Uenoshi.

And Suzuki, staring at him with eyes full of hatred.

Shin's heart sank as he quickly recalled what had happened before.

At that ti, he had been preparing to counter Guan Tong's teleportation attack, but he didn't know what happened in between. Ti seed to have gone wrong, and by the ti he reacted, he had already been hit.

"If you're smart enough, cooperate a little," Guan Tong said. "Otherwise, you're just asking for trouble."

"......"

Without a word, Shin violently bit his tongue.

With a sickening *squelch*, he bit off his own tongue, instantly filling his mouth with blood.

Guan Tong, Uenoshi, and Suzuki were all taken aback, not expecting this guy to be so ruthless.

"Thud!"

Guan Tong couldn't let Shin die. Before he could use another thod of self-harm, Guan Tong imdiately struck, knocking him unconscious again.

"It seems he won't say anything," Uenoshi said, then turned to ask Suzuki, "Can your [Profiling] get so intelligence?"

Suzuki shook her head: "If he says nothing, my ability isn't of much use either."

The two looked at Guan Tong, wondering what he planned to do in this situation.

A ruthless person who bites off his own tongue the mont he wakes up would probably be useless to interrogate, even with torture.

"This man certainly has backbone and isn't afraid of death. But this isn't the old era anymore," Guan Tong said coldly.

As long as a person is alive, they can speak.

Even in the era before the Doomsday Rules, things like "truth serums" were suspected to exist.

Let alone after entering the Doomsday Rules era, where abilities and items related to "hypnotic interrogation" do exist.

As long as they obtained one such aid, they wouldn't worry about not getting intelligence from this person.

"Even if he says nothing, at least the Divine Child is definitely dead... that can be confird, right?" Uenoshi guessed.

Guan Tong looked at her: "What? Didn't you previously think the Divine Child wasn't dead?"

"I think since this person is the Divine Child's personal bodyguard, if the Divine Child weren't dead, why would he abandon his duty of close protection to go to the prison beneath the official residence?"

"Hmm..."

Guan Tong felt Uenoshi's words made sense.

If the Divine Child weren't dead, as his personal bodyguard, this guy really shouldn't have left his charge to act on his own.

But if the Divine Child is dead, why capture and treat that Serpent Servant? Does this an the Gene Hybridization Experint led by the Divine Child is still continuing?

Guan Tong couldn't make a decision at the mont; he needed to obtain more intelligence.

At that mont, the two noticed Suzuki was fiercely staring at the unconscious Shin, looking eager to try sothing.

Earlier, Suzuki had told them that after being released back, she was first interrogated at the Headquarters, then taken away by the Divine Child and subjected to a second interrogation by his bodyguard.

The injuries on her face and body were all inflicted by this person during that second interrogation. Those cruel interrogation thods still made her heart tremble to recall, so hating him enough to want to kill him was perfectly normal.

"Now is not the ti to kill him," Guan Tong said to Suzuki. "He is certainly going to die, but before that, we must first squeeze valuable intelligence out of him."

Suzuki nodded silently.

Uenoshi asked: "Are there items in the terminal market that can make him divulge intelligence?"

"I already checked earlier, no. Such items, once listed, would definitely be bought up by large organizations."

"Then what to do? You don't have a hypnotic-like ability, do you?"

"I don't, but that doesn't an we can't find soone who does to help."

...

Early morning, not yet six o'clock, a staff mber in the data departnt of the Counterasures Research Office suddenly let out a loud "Ah!" startling everyone else on the early shift in the office.

Before his colleagues could utter words of reproach, that staff mber quickly said: "Shadow sent a ssage contacting us!"

Oh?!

Everyone in the office was surprised.

Shadow's account had always had dedicated personnel monitoring it 24/7 in shifts, precisely to ensure that if he posted anything or sent a ssage, they could view and report it imdiately.

It had been a long ti since the last communication between Shadow and the official account. This sudden new ssage was worth paying attention to.

The staff mber quickly reported it. Zhang Minglu, who was still sleeping, was woken up. Upon learning Shadow had sent a ssage, he didn't even bother washing up and imdiately went to check the computer.

Shadow: "I have an important and confidential matter to discuss with the authorities. This matter involves many parties and requires the person in charge of the Research Office to co forward."

The Counterasures Research Office had dealt with Guan Tong several tis, and the latter had gained so understanding of the forr's organizational structure, knowing that Gao Liangwei, this person in charge, held significant authority.

Zhang Minglu replied: "This is Zhang Minglu. The person in charge only lay down at 1 AM and is still resting. You can explain the situation to

first."

Shadow: "It's related to recent events in Sakura Prayer."

Sakura Prayer...

Zhang Minglu had a guess, thinking Shadow contacting the authorities could only be about two things. Either related to the alien spores, or related to his assassination of the Divine Child a few days ago.

Shadow: "Once Head Gao has ti, I can do a video call."

Zhang Minglu: "Video call?"

Shadow: "You already know my identity, don't you? Since that's the case, there's no need to hide anything anymore."

Zhang Minglu: "...I'll go have soone notify the person in charge right away."

The matter was significant, and Zhang Minglu couldn't afford to let Gao Liangwei rest properly.

Just as he finished sending the ssage, before even leaving the room, Gao Liangwei had already called, telling him to go to the eting room.

Three minutes later, Gao Liangwei, Zhang Minglu, and two or three other departnt heads gathered in the eting room.

It was true that Shadow's identity was exposed, but this intelligence was currently under strict lockdown and hadn't leaked to the point of being common knowledge.

Within the Counterasures Research Office, apart from a few leaders and investigators, others still didn't know this secret.

"Alright, let's begin."

Gao Liangwei signaled to Zhang Minglu, who then sent a ssage to Guan Tong.

Not long after, the video call between both sides began.

As soon as the picture ca up, Gao Liangwei and the others were greatly surprised.

They saw that what was displayed on Guan Tong's side wasn't himself, but a large group of people!

Most of these people were looking at the cara, their expressions grave.

Then the picture flipped, and Guan Tong's face appeared.

"Head Gao, Dr. Zhang, and the other few. What you just saw are people we rescued from the Yuzawa Family's secret prison."

The Yuzawa Family's secret prison?

Guan Tong's sentence contained a massive amount of hidden information. Gao Liangwei imdiately said: "Please explain clearly, what exactly is going on?"

"Alright."

For the next ten-plus minutes, Guan Tong explained the situation regarding the Yuzawa Family privately establishing prisons, arresting dissidents, and secretly conducting the Gene Hybridization transformation plan.

The more Gao Liangwei and the others listened, the graver their expressions beca. They undoubtedly never imagined that the ruling family of Sakura Prayer Country was secretly doing such utterly evil things.

"...So, with the video I recorded and so many witnesses, the Yuzawa Family's cris are beyond doubt. My purpose in contacting the authorities is twofold. First, I hope the authorities can temporarily accommodate these people dostically, protecting their lives.

The Yuzawa Family must have discovered the situation with the secret prison by now. If these people remain in Sakura Prayer, they will only be silenced. I alone cannot protect so many people, but I can transport them into Beixing territory."

"Second, I hope the authorities can dispatch Ascendants with hypnotic or interrogation abilities or items to interrogate this Divine Child bodyguard we captured, to obtain more valuable intelligence to use against the Yuzawa Family."

"Wait," Gao Liangwei asked. "Just now, those added up to dozens, maybe a hundred people, right? How did you rescue them, and how are you going to transport them all to Beixing?"

"That's one of my abilities."

Guan Tong certainly wouldn't explain the characteristics of the Book Page shelter in detail. Even these rescued people didn't know how they were transferred.

From their perspective, they were wrapped in sothing pitch-black, and after a period of ti, when their vision returned, they were outside the prison.

Since they were completely enveloped in shadow during the entire transfer, they knew nothing about the shelter's existence. The only thing they knew was that during that ti, they faintly heard several sounds resembling beasts.

That was naturally Coal Ball's voice.

"...I see."

An ability to remotely transfer large numbers of people—Gao Liangwei and the others knew how rare that was. Although it could be done with group teleportation items, even the authorities didn't have much stock of such items, and many were used during the earthquake rule, making them highly scarce products that decreased with each use.

Gao Liangwei looked at Guan Tong on the screen, his gaze profound.

He thought to himself, their understanding of Shadow was still too little. Just how many hidden abilities did this young man have? It was truly unfathomable.

"Alright, I can agree to you right now."

Gao Liangwei didn't hesitate. Among the people Guan Tong rescued were scholars and researchers from Sakura Prayer, forr Andai State people, and so who opposed the Yuzawa Family. These people all had considerable value.

Especially those scholars and researchers, who were willing to risk their lives to oppose the crazy Gene Hybridization experint—this was a manifestation of moral integrity. Beixing naturally welcod such people.

"Good," Guan Tong said. "Then after I transport the people to Beixing, I will send the location. Please receive and accommodate them promptly. That's all for now."

"Wait." Gao Liangwei stopped Guan Tong, who was about to end the video call. "Shadow, no, I'll just call you Guan Tong. You also said there's no need to hide anything. The intelligence you provided is very important. I can tell you what I will do next."

"Oh?"

"After receiving the personnel you send, I will convene an ergency Human Consortium eting as soon as possible to make the evidence public. Then I will call on all mber states, including Sakura Prayer itself, to convict and arrest the Yuzawa Family personnel involved and establish a joint investigation team to investigate that Gene Hybridization plan."

Guan Tong listened silently, feeling Gao Liangwei hadn't finished speaking.

"To demonstrate sincerity for long-term cooperation, I would like to nominate you to lead this joint investigation team. I wonder if you would be interested?"
