The third day after the third Doomsday Rule took effect.

Guan Tong sat at his desk, sensing the hunger level of his body.

"I'm very hungry, but not to the point of collapsing."

He didn't know if it was because of his high Mind Power upper limit, but Guan Tong discovered his ability to perceive his body's condition had beco sowhat stronger than before.

If hunger could be quantified with the danger line at 90, he felt he was currently around 70 and could endure for a while longer.

But others couldn't hold on.

Especially those who were older or had low Mind Power upper limits—they had already started frantically posting online as the second day was ending.

"I can't take it anymore! I'm so hungry I'm dizzy and seeing spots. Looks like I have to give up on this challenge!"

"Let

share a painful lesson: energy drinks don't count as water! I took one sip and it showed challenge failed!!!"

"To the person above... are you living in a cave? Soone already explained this on the first day the rules were released..."

"Damn these food boxes that can't be traded! My sister has coins, but the boxes she bought can't be used by . This is so frustrating!"

"I can still hold on, but I'm worried about organ failure from starvation after fifteen days. What should I do then?"

"If you're worried about getting sick, go to the hospital. Healthcare is free for everyone now."

"Yeah, to preserve more of the population, the authorities have made basically everything free that can be free. For things that can't be free, we can't afford them anyway since they only accept gold transactions."

"Perseverance leads to victory! Don't give up!!!"

"Brothers, check out this secret recipe burger I made myself. It's really delicious. [Super Secret Sauce Whopper.jpg"

"Ban the guy posting burger pictures!!! Imdiately!!!"

Faced with this environnt, people had little else to do besides venting through online chats.

Guan Tong himself had things to do. When his Mind Power recovered, he would write in the [Wordless Book], and when it was depleted, he would entertain himself, living relatively peacefully.

By the evening of the fourth day, he started feeling he couldn't hold on anymore.

Not because he couldn't bear the hunger, but because his Mind Power recovery speed had slowed down.

After checking online, Guan Tong discovered many people had already noticed this issue: the worse your physical condition, the slower your Mind Power recovery. In near-death situations, it might even stop recovering completely.

Being hungry wasn't a big deal, but slow Mind Power recovery was unacceptable! This would genuinely affect his "coin minting plan."

Imdiately, he took out a [Basic Food Box] from his terminal's storage box, opened it, and obtained an All-Effect Survival Tablet.

He swallowed it and could feel the tablet quickly dissolving in his body, supplying energy throughout his system.

In just a few seconds, Guan Tong felt completely revitalized, with the previous hunger-induced dizziness completely gone.

"Terminal products are really good," Guan Tong thought to himself. When he had more coins later, he would stop eating regular als and just take one of these tablets daily—convenient and healthy.

After fully recovering, Guan Tong was about to continue his work when he suddenly heard the doorbell ring.

"Ding dong, ding dong."

Huh?

Guan Tong's heart jumped. Who would co looking for him?

He walked to the door and looked through the peephole, seeing two young n in their twenties wearing baseball caps and white Peace Officer uniforms standing at his doorstep.

Guan Tong didn't recognize either of them—they were definitely not people he knew.

He didn't open the door or speak.

After waiting for a mont, one of the n outside patted the door and shouted, "Please open up, we're from the Police Departnt, here to conduct an investigation."

Hearing this, Guan Tong frowned.

"Trying to fool a ghost?" he thought. Which Peace Officer would co to investigate in the middle of the night?

He still didn't speak.

After another mont, the other young man forcefully patted the door.

Bang! Bang!

"Peace Officer inspection, open up! We know soone's ho—we saw the lights on from outside!"

Lights on!

Guan Tong was startled and looked toward the study window.

He had actually overlooked this detail!

The curtains in his study were sowhat thin and let light through. When the lights were on at night, it was visible from downstairs.

After the first Doomsday Rule, over a quarter of the population had been drastically reduced. It was understandable that in Guan Tong's residential complex, if not nine out of ten hos empty, there weren't many survivors left.

This made the lights in his ho at night particularly conspicuous, telling people outside that soone was still alive here.

Since the people outside knew he was ho, Guan Tong stopped remaining silent.

He picked up his phone, quickly dialed the Police Departnt number, and said to the door, "Even if you are Peace Officers, you can't just search my ho arbitrarily. Do you have a search warrant?"

Hearing Guan Tong's voice, one of the n outside imdiately replied, "Of course we have the docunts! Open the door and I'll show you!"

"I've dialed the Police Departnt and need to verify your identities first. Provide your Peace Officer identification numbers."

"What?!"

"If you don't open up, we'll force our way in for inspection!"

Guan Tong turned on his phone's speakerphone and said loudly, "Hello, Police Departnt? Soone is impersonating Peace Officers at my ho. Please send soone imdiately. The address is..."

"Damn!"

"Kid, you wait for this! Let's go!"

Hearing Guan Tong inside actually calling the Police Departnt, the two n at the door cursed and quickly ran down the stairs.

After reporting the information to the Police Departnt operator, Guan Tong put down his phone, his brow deeply furrowed.

What was going on with these two?

Robbers? But now the governnt was providing many things for free—what was there to steal?

Were they after gold? But Guan Tong lived in an ordinary residential complex, not a wealthy neighborhood. How many households would keep gold?

Were they after Ascension Coins? That was even more impossible since they couldn't be traded...

Or were these two young n ntally broken by the Doomsday Rules and looking to commit random cris?

Such situations weren't unheard of, but they were mostly concentrated during the first rule period.

After the first rule ended, random cris had been greatly suppressed under the authorities' strong crackdown.

Guan Tong frowned tightly, feeling a strong sense of unease.

It ca partly from not understanding these two young n's motives.

And partly from his address being exposed and soone targeting him.

"Not paying attention to the curtain's light-blocking issue at night was my oversight... I can't stay here anymore. I need to find another place to live quickly!"

Before one of the young n ran off, he said "You wait for this"—this could just be empty threats to save face, but it could also be serious.

Guan Tong felt that if it was serious, he might get ambushed next ti he went out to buy food.

This wasn't good news because he currently didn't have much combat capability.

His "Shadow" had no physical form. It might work for scaring people, but in actual physical confrontations... it still wouldn't suffice.

Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

His phone vibrated—it was a call from the Police Departnt.

"Hello, we've dispatched two Peace Officers to your location. Their identification numbers are A1221 and C3306."

Guan Tong provided information: "As soon as I called the Police Departnt, those two people got scared and ran off, but they probably didn't go far. They were wearing Peace Officer uniforms and baseball caps, both under thirty years old."
