Guan Tong sat up and remotely manipulated the Shadow to beco intangible and follow the tracks of those vehicles to see what was going on.

He needed to know because his own car, driven here from Yunhua, was parked in the woods. He would still need it if he had to return to the city or go elsewhere later. It would be very troubleso if soone else drove it away or damaged it.

Those vehicles stopped at the edge of the woods. Three people, one man and two won, got out of the small truck at the front. As soon as they stepped out, they ran deep into the forest.

The several Jeeps behind also stopped. Over a dozen people wielding knives, guns, clubs, and staffs got out and gave chase inside.

Guan Tong received the images transmitted by the Shadow in real-ti. It looked like a chase and kill.

He continued to manipulate the Shadow to follow. The man and two won running ahead wanted to use the dense forest to hide their figures and shake off the pursuers.

But the latter group was nurous, spreading out as they chased forward. Unless the three in front could open up a significant distance, hiding was simply impossible.

At that mont, one of the three, a young woman, accidentally tripped over a tree root and instinctively let out a low cry.

Damn it.

Seeing this, Guan Tong knew she had already violated the rule.

The other two companions who had originally intended to help her up, upon hearing her make a sound, paused for a mont, then had no choice but to abandon her and keep running.

However, before the Sound Hunters could arrive, the group catching up from behind was exceptionally brutal. One of them, holding a club, struck the fallen woman on the head, killing her outright.

Seeing this, Guan Tong felt a slight shock in his heart. He didn't know what deep-seated grudge this group had, to act so ruthlessly.

At that mont, the bearded man used a tablet to produce sound: "Keep chasing. Kill the remaining two, then go back to collect the supplies."

Using text-to-speech on an electronic device to talk... Guan Tong now saw that the remaining man and woman were running east through the woods, seemingly trying to go up the mountain along the eastern slope.

Mingdao Mountain wasn't very large. Coming up from the eastern slope, they wouldn't have to run far to reach the mountainside. By then, Guan Tong's own dwelling would inevitably be exposed.

During such a harsh rule period, he genuinely didn't want to have any interaction with others. But judging by the montum of these people, they were definitely going to co up the mountain.

Sure enough, the man and woman ran up the mountain first, followed by the dozen or so pursuers.

Guan Tong got up, took the Silver Hunt, and went outside. After leaving the house, he thought for a mont, then manipulated a mass of shadow to materialize in human form, put on clothes, and sent it to intercept the path those people would take.

Not long after, the man and woman running ahead suddenly discovered a figure standing in front of them under the moonlight.

At first, they thought it was one of the bearded man's people and were startled. But upon careful thought, they realized it was impossible.

The bearded man and his crew were all non-Ascendants. They couldn't possibly have such speed to circle around and block their path.

Could it be soone camping on the mountain?

A sliver of hope arose in Sister Yu's heart. She ran a few quick steps to the person, took out her phone, and quickly typed a ssage to show them: (Can you help us? A group of thugs is hunting us!)

"......"

Although the Shadow had the Five Senses ability, it couldn't speak itself. Under normal circumstances, this might raise suspicion, but during the effective period of this [Silent Hour] rule, not speaking was perfectly normal.

The other man with Sister Yu also typed: (Please! They are practically a bunch of murderous maniacs!)

Guan Tong, hiding in the darkness, saw the words they typed on their phones through the Shadow's vision, pondering how to handle this situation.

At that mont, the bearded man and his dozen or so underlings chased to the spot. Upon seeing the extra "person," their expressions all turned wary.

The bearded man used his tablet to ask, "You over there, the one with the helt. Who are you?"

To make the Shadow disguise as a human, Guan Tong not only made it wear clothes but also had it shape a helt on its head, completely covering its face.

Then, one of the bearded man's underlings used his phone's text-to-speech to say, "Boss, this guy isn't with them. He was probably already on the mountain."

A fierce glint flashed in the bearded man's eyes. He typed and the device spoke: "Originally living on the mountain ans he probably has supplies too. Perfect, kill them all and take two batches of supplies back. Go."

As the electronic female voice finished, the dozen underlings sward forward.

Guan Tong was now certain these people were indeed murderous thugs who killed to seize supplies. In that case, there was nothing more to say.

He manipulated the Shadow to et them, raising both hands. Two black shadow blades extended from its wrists, piercing through the chests of two thugs in the first encounter.

"Thud!"

The shadow blades pulled out, bringing forth a spray of crimson blood. Then it crouched and charged at the others, taking at least one thug's life with each in-and-out movent.

anwhile, the attacks from the thugs were all calmly dodged by the Shadow.

Since the Shadow's physical capabilities were linked to Guan Tong himself, he realized at this mont that with his current physical fitness, dealing with these ordinary people had beco very easy.

In just seven or eight seconds, over half of the dozen thugs were lying on the ground. This terrified the remaining ones, who wanted to retreat.

But there was no turning back once the arrow was loosed. Once a person makes a choice, they must bear the consequences of that choice.

For Guan Tong, since these thugs chose to kill and plunder supplies, he would deliver the consequences himself.

The Shadow continued its pursuit, quickly dispatching the remaining thugs.

The leader, the bearded man, only snapped out of his fear when most of his underlings were down. He pulled out a Handgun and frantically pulled the trigger at the Shadow.

"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The bullets struck the Shadow. Aside from a few holes torn in its clothes, there was no noticeable effect.

"Monster!" The bearded man scread in collapse, his voice breaking. Based on his experience, even among Ascendants, few could withstand bullets.

This shout was uttered by his own voice, not through the tablet's text-to-speech.

So, the Shadow stopped the action of originally intending to pierce the bearded man's chest with a shadow blade. Instead, it retreated a few steps and silently stared.

The bearded man, thinking he was about to be killed, had shouted out recklessly. But at the last mont, that person had given up on attacking him.

He imdiately realized this wasn't out of kindness, but rather so kind of malice.

This guy wants to wait for the Sound Hunters to kill !!!

The mont the bearded man realized this, his heart was completely filled with terror.

He had seen how Sound Hunters killed people. Those monsters, completely invisible to the naked eye, would silently pierce the necks of those who made sounds, just like ghosts.

That kind of impending doom, not knowing when it would arrive, was the greatest torture for a human being.

Because most people would rather die imdiately than wait in fear for an inevitable death.

Just like so dieval prisoners sentenced to death without a set execution date, who would even scare themselves to death before the execution.

"Damn monster! You wish!"

The bearded man roared, raised the gun muzzle, stuffed it into his own mouth, wanting to shoot himself, denying the enemy the chance to observe the Sound Hunters killing him.

But before he could pull the trigger, his finger and wrist were severed together by a shadow blade, and the Handgun fell to the ground.

"No..."

The bearded man bent over, wanting to pick up the gun with his other hand, but it was already too late.

The mont he bent over, his neck was suddenly pierced by sothing invisible, and blood gushed out.

Guan Tong, observing from the shadows, narrowed his eyes: Sound Hunters can beco invisible?

The bearded man was right. The reason Guan Tong didn't kill him was precisely because he had made a sound. Guan Tong wanted to wait for the Sound Hunters to attack, to observe what they were, their attack thods, and their intensity.

Guan Tong watched very carefully. With his own eyes plus the Shadow's vision, under dual observation, he didn't detect the presence of the Sound Hunter at all.

This ant the Sound Hunter was an invisible existence that couldn't be observed with the naked eye.

How to deal with such an enemy?

Looking at the fallen bearded man, Guan Tong had a thought. A large amount of shadow spread out from around him, transforming into countless tiny tentacles as thin as hairs, attempting to capture the presence of the Sound Hunter through "touch."

But his attempt ended in failure. The hundreds, even thousands, of shadow tentacles spreading out didn't receive any corresponding tactile feedback.

Was it because the Sound Hunter was too fast, leaving imdiately after killing the bearded man...

Guan Tong's heart sank.

Just the two characteristics of invisibility and high speed were enough to demonstrate the danger of the Sound Hunters.

anwhile, Sister Yu and her male companion were completely unaware of Guan Tong hiding in the dark and his attempt to make contact with the Sound Hunter.

The two of them were still imrsed in the Shadow's annihilation of those thugs. Its speed, strength, and the sharp blades during the assassinations sent chills down their spines.

This must be an Ascendant, and a very powerful, combat-skilled Ascendant at that!

Sister Yu regained her composure, steadied herself, typed a line on her phone, and stepped forward to show the Shadow: (Thank you for saving us!)

Seeing this, Guan Tong wasn't particularly concerned.

He had realized from the mont he started fighting that these thugs weren't Ascendants. They were probably the type whose Mind Power Upper Limit had decayed to zero, their Personal Terminals shut down. Banding together, relying on their numbers and ferocity, they killed and plundered others in the wilderness, already a de facto gang of violent thugs.

Eliminating these people was like removing a public nace. Guan Tong felt no unease about it.

As for any sense of tension in the fight, there was none. To deal with these guys, he didn't even need to show himself. The Shadow was enough to defeat them.

However, his initial thought remained unchanged: during the [Silent Hour] rule period, he didn't want excessive contact or connections with others.

So, facing this middle-aged woman's typed ssage on the phone, he didn't respond. He just made the Shadow nod and then turn to walk back.

Sister Yu and her male companion were taken aback. The latter mustered his courage, stepped forward, and showed the text on his phone: (May I ask, do you have a camp on the mountain? Can we join you?)

The Shadow shook its head, continued walking forward, and soon disappeared into the night.

The man looked disappointed. Sister Yu typed a ssage for him to see: (It seems the other party doesn't want contact with us. We shouldn't disturb them.)

(Then, Sister Yu, what should we do? Our camp... should we go back? But now it's just the two of us left...)

Sister Yu: (We can't go back, because we don't know if these thugs have other accomplices. Let's go bury Xiao Sun first, then we'll temporarily set up a makeshift camp at the foot of the mountain.)

Xiao Sun was the young woman who had escaped with them. If she hadn't accidentally tripped over the tree root, she might still be alive.

(Alright, I'll listen to you, Sister Yu.) The man nodded and went back the way they ca with Sister Yu.

After they left, a "shadow surveillance eye" hanging on a nearby tree transmitted the image back. Guan Tong, who had already returned to the wooden cabin, was sowhat satisfied.

That middle-aged woman called "Sister Yu" had a decent sense of boundaries. She could tell he didn't want to be disturbed, so she didn't continue up the mountain to look for his camp.

But Guan Tong thought it might also be out of fear.

After all, he had easily eliminated over a dozen thugs by manipulating the Shadow. This ant that if they angered him, their fate might not be much different from the thugs'.

However, compared to these thugs, what Guan Tong was thinking about now was still related to the Sound Hunters.

How to use his own advantages to eliminate an enemy that was fast and could beco invisible? This indeed required careful thought and planning.
