"Bang!"

After Fang Qian walked out dejectedly, Guan Tong closed the door and locked it.

His expression wasn't good - he had originally thought Fang Qian had a decent character, but her behavior had still deeply disappointed him.

They say you shouldn't test human nature, because human nature mostly can't withstand testing.

If Fang Qian hadn't known about the existence of Hidden Rules, perhaps she wouldn't have considered harming others.

Her parents telling her was indeed for her own good, but it also awakened the evil thoughts within her heart. Still, the choice was hers to make, so she couldn't bla anyone else.

Guan Tong sat on the stool. Even though he hadn't slept for dozens of hours, he felt exceptionally clear-headed at this mont.

Fang Qian's actions had reaffird his initial resolve.

He had known about the existence of Hidden Rules since the disaster began. If he had wanted to use them, he could have obtained enough Alertness Mints long ago to ensure his survival.

But he had made the decision to say "no" from the very beginning.

Guan Tong certainly didn't want to die, but he would only rely on his own efforts to persevere.

If he ultimately failed, he would regret it but wouldn't resent anything, since he would have already done his best.

Having understood this, Guan Tong felt an inexplicable lightness in both body and mind.

Even his earlier dissatisfaction with Fang Qian now seed insignificant.

He walked to the window and glanced at the countdown in the sky.

24:16:28

"Twenty-four hours - I'll just treat it as needing to endure one day."

Guan Tong thought optimistically, then stopped thinking about when ti or the internet would be restored.

He drank his coffee, got up, went to the study, turned on the computer, and played several single-player gas.

Hour after hour passed until the Fire Thief's voice sounded.

[Rule ti has ended]

[Congratulations on passing the first Doomsday Rule test]

It's over...?

When Guan Tong heard the voice in his mind, he wondered if he was hallucinating.

He looked up toward the window - the red countdown in the sky had completely disappeared.

[New functions unlocked. Survival rewards have been sent to Storage Box and can be viewed through Personal Terminal]

[The second Doomsday Rule will be announced in fifteen days]

The Fire Thief's voice fell silent.

...

When Guan Tong woke up, it was already 10 AM.

He rubbed his ssy hair and squinted at the sunlight outside.

"Did I... sleep for a full day and night?"

The rule had ended at 9 AM, and now it was 10 AM. Without a doubt, he had slept for a solid 25 hours.

After waking up, Guan Tong didn't get up imdiately.

He just lay there, quietly enjoying the satisfaction of waking up from a good sleep.

He had never carefully appreciated this feeling before, but now he realized how incredibly blissful it was to sleep until fully rested.

After lying quietly for a while, he silently summoned his Personal Terminal.

[Na: Guan Tong]

[Nickna: Not Set]

[Title: None]

[Mind Power: 96]

[Ascension Coins: 100]

[Comprehensive Biological Information Evaluation: Ordinary]

Guan Tong looked at the changes in the panel with so surprise.

First, he could now set a "Nickna." He had seen the note before that this function would unlock after surviving the first Doomsday Rule.

Guan Tong guessed the nickna's purpose was to hide his real identity.

In his view, this ant the Personal Terminal might later enable communication functions.

Next was the change in Mind Power.

He had previously thought Mind Power might be sothing like a "skill," but now it appeared as a nurical value.

"My Mind Power is '96' - is this high or low? And what exactly does it do?"

Guan Tong was completely baffled and didn't understand.

He could only temporarily ignore it and continue looking.

The other reward was the fixed 100 Ascension Coins.

When Guan Tong focused his attention on them, an explanation appeared before his eyes.

[Ascension Coins can be used to purchase items in the Ascension Store or conduct transactions with others]

"So that's how it is."

The function of Ascension Coins was more or less within Guan Tong's expectations.

Finally, his gaze fell on the evaluation.

[Comprehensive Biological Information Evaluation: Ordinary]

"I rember... it was 'Inferior' before, right?"

Just by passing one Doomsday Rule, he went from Inferior to Ordinary?

But where exactly were the specific changes?

Guan Tong tried throwing a few punches but didn't feel any increase in strength.

He didn't dwell on it too much and continued exploring the terminal.

Besides the panel updates, the terminal now had two new functions.

One was Storage Box, and the other was Ascension Store.

Guan Tong first used his thoughts to open the Storage Box, which contained only one bronze-colored box.

When he focused his thoughts on the box, information imdiately appeared.

[Survival Treasure Chest · Bronze Grade]: Opening it will grant a fixed title reward

"Fixed title reward?"

Guan Tong chose to open it.

[Obtained Title: Order Keeper]

...Just a simple title?

This title had no description and no additional bonuses, which puzzled Guan Tong.

The "Order Keeper" title automatically appeared in the title section of his panel. Guan Tong looked at it a few tis but couldn't make sense of it.

He treated it the sa way he had with Mind Power earlier - if he didn't understand it, he'd skip it for now.

He opened the second new function, the Ascension Store.

A brand new interface appeared before him, completely empty except for a search bar.

"Is there nothing available to purchase? Or do I need to search by na for items to appear?"

Looking at the lonely search bar, Guan Tong tried inputting content with his thoughts.

Books.

After inputting, the store interface automatically jumped, and a book with a black cover prominently appeared.

[Wordless Book]: A book containing mysterious power

[Price: 100 Ascension Coins]

Guan Tong: "?"

He had just randomly searched for "books" because he liked reading, never expecting it would actually return a result.

And the price happened to be exactly 100 Ascension Coins.

"Is this a coincidence?"

Guan Tong tried searching for other things, but no matter what he searched for afterward, it returned "No results."

Helpless, he searched for "books" again, and the sa [Wordless Book] appeared.

"...It seems this book and I are fated."

Guan Tong didn't overthink it and chose to purchase.

[Obtained: Wordless Book]

His 100 Ascension Coins reset to zero, replaced by a black-covered book that materialized in Guan Tong's hands.

The book wasn't large, roughly A5 size.

The material was unknown but felt sowhat like parchnt.

When Guan Tong opened the pages, he discovered that, true to its na, this really was a "wordless book" - all the pages were completely blank.

...Didn't it say it contained mysterious power? Where is it?

Guan Tong flipped through the pages but couldn't activate any mysterious power.

He sighed, took a pen from the bedside table drawer, and wanted to write his na on the first page.

This was a habit he'd had since childhood - he would always write his na in any book that belonged to him.

However, just as he was about to write, he felt an inexplicable air resistance suddenly appear, resisting his writing motion and preventing the pen tip from touching the paper.

Though surprised, Guan Tong continued applying force, opposing that resistance.

As the two forces contended, Guan Tong felt so kind of energy flowing within his body, concentrating into his right hand.

That energy's reinforcent allowed Guan Tong to break through the invisible resistance, and the pen tip successfully touched the paper.

But just as he wrote the first stroke "dot" of the first character "Guan" in his na, the energy within his body was instantly drained. The air resistance counterattacked, sending the pen in his hand flying away!
