Chapter 863: Chapter 863: Eyewitness_1

Purple watched Nathaniel storm off, relieved.

Despite her emotional obtuseness, she understood a simple truth, soft-heartedness could lead to grave mistakes. What Nathaniel needed now wasn’t her lingering affection, but her heart of stone.

“Miss?” the steward inquired.

Purple ca back to her senses and said, “It’s nothing, let’s go.”

The villa was built halfway up the mountain, accessible by a single road just wide enough for two cars to travel side by side. Purple had left so people to guard the foot of the mountain and took only the steward and two bodyguards with her up the mountainside.

As the car ascended along the mountain road, it wasn’t long before they could see the tall ginkgo tree, its branches full and leaves flourishing, both strong and elegant.

Purple couldn’t help but hold her breath.

She left everyone outside and entered the house alone.

Purple was very cautious; she tested the door lock first, finding it undamaged. Once inside, she carefully checked the furniture and household items for any signs of tampering. A thin layer of dust covered the floor, untouched by suspicious footprints.

Standing in the living room, she pondered for a mont, then turned and headed to the basent.

The basent was silent and dim; Purple pressed the overhead light switch and found everything as it was.

It was then she finally took a deep breath of relief.

No one had been here.

Damian Howard didn’t know about this place. If he had seen these things, he wouldn’t have been able to resist looking through them.

He had lost his chance, and now he would never have it again.

Purple packed everything in the basent into boxes, including her photos and various materials related to resurrection.

After finishing this, she had the bodyguards place the boxes in the trunk.

“Do we need to leave soone on guard?” Manager Charles asked her.

“No need,” Purple said as she got into the car, glancing through the window at the house, her voice soft, “Let’s go.”

She didn’t want others to think she cared about this place.

After leaving, Purple headed to Clearwater Pier.

On the way, she received a call from Gavin Graves, to her surprise, her tone naturally revealed her astonishnt, “Young Master Graves?”

“Purple,” Gavin’s voice was soft and low, uttering her na with an unexpectedly tender inflection, “Are you free? There’s soone I’d like you to et.”

“Now?” Purple said skeptically, “Can it wait until later? I’m on my way to the pier.”

There was a mont of silence on the other end before Gavin said, “Let’s et at the pier.”

Purple agreed.

When she arrived at the pier, Gavin and Lester Williams were already waiting, accompanied by a man of average build with his forearm in a sling and fresh scar marks on his face.

Purple glanced at him, finding him vaguely familiar. As she wondered who he was, Gavin said, “He was in the vicinity when the explosion occurred. I plan to send him to Pearlpoint. I had him et with you before leaving in case you have any questions to clarify.”

Purple’s pupils contracted slightly.

She suddenly rembered – this man was one of Alexander’s underlings; she had seen him at Walker Hotel!

“You witnessed the whole event?” Purple asked, her gaze fixed on the man.

The man said, “Master Xander was ready to hand over the family head position. The thirteenth young master and several great-uncles spoke of organizing a retirees eting, to make it official and secure the brothers’ respect. Lily Howard inford Master Xander that there would be trouble at the retirees eting, so he tasked us to investigate. We found out that the thirteenth young master had arranged snipers across the river. Once the eting started, we took out those snipers. Then we saw the yacht explode on the river…”

Purple’s body stiffened, and she asked, “The explosion wasn’t planned by you?”

He shook his head. “It was an accident.”

Purple felt a wave of darkness before her eyes, nearly unable to stand.

Accident ant that Alexander had been completely unprepared at that ti…

For so long, she had clung to hope, wishing the explosion was another one of Alexander’s traps, another of his deceitful sches. Why hadn’t he escaped this calamity!

Purple took a deep breath, pressing down the tumult within her heart. “Take there,” she said.
