Chapter 851: Chapter 851 Closing Argunts_1

Purple Sumrs slept for twenty minutes and felt much revitalized. She then spent fifteen minutes recalling and sorting through the entire court hearing process.

Before going to court, she had eaten two slices of pizza and drunk so water, feeling completely rejuvenated.

Upon returning to the courtroom, the atmosphere was still solemn and respectful.

The court hearing was drawing to a close.

The prosecutor made the closing argunts first.

Although the prosecutor had realized there were doubts in the case, the necessary procedures still had to be ticulously completed.

He walked in front of the jury, choosing his words carefully, seemingly contemplating where to begin, “Ladies and gentlen of the jury, the defendant in this case, Mr. Edward Carter, the heir to the Carter Group, should be quite familiar to all of you. Before his imprisonnt, Kingsley City’s entertainnt news was never short of his presence. He is wealthy and arrogant, and even after his marriage, his romantic escapades continued—”

The prosecutor’s voice suddenly rose as he continued, “Even after his marriage, his scandalous affairs never ceased. His marriage was in crisis, and he had countless quarrels with his wife, Nadia Cory, even resorting to violence! The servants in the house have overheard him cursing his wife ti and again, ‘Why don’t you just die?!’ and ‘Damn it, I will kill you!’ Then one day, they quarreled again.

This ti, Edward Carter lost control. He picked up the fruit knife from the coffee table and murdered Nadia Cory. He gruesoly severed her head and staged the scene to look like a break-in. In his panicked escape, he was unaware that he had been seen by the maid at ho. He buried the head in the walnut grove, and then, worried about being discovered, he hastily went to a villa in the western suburbs which was usually uninhabited, the perfect place to hide a body! After he hid it, on his way back, he was caught by the police!”

The prosecutor finished, paused for a mont, looked at the mbers of the jury with a grave voice, “Today, the defense has provided many pieces of evidence, insect eggs, pesticides, various reports, and written materials. But I hope you all understand that the ground beneath our feet always hides things beyond our prediction!

Perhaps that moth really did lay its eggs in the flowerbed? Maybe those traces of pesticide ca from the moth itself? These are unknowns! Now, we sit here, knowing very well—the maid heard Edward Carter quarreling with Nadia Cory! She saw Edward Carter fleeing! Yet, the defense lawyer tells us, the maid heard wrong, the maid saw wrong! Are witnesses not to be trusted, should we instead believe a moth?

Do you believe that? At least I do not! I trust that each of you here will make the most rational, fairest decision!”

The final words of the prosecutor were emphatic and forceful.

After concluding his statent, he turned and returned to his seat, his gaze landing on Purple Sumrs.

Purple Sumrs smiled at him.

The prosecutor felt a chill on his scalp.

It was the first ti he had seen a junior lawyer act as a defense attorney in a criminal case, and one who showed no signs of nervousness.

Purple Sumrs stood up and walked towards the jury, with a faint smile on her face.

“The prosecutor’s storytelling technique is quite impressive,” Purple Sumrs said with a smile, “To avoid boring everyone, I won’t tell a story. Instead, let’s solve a math problem, shall we?

The maid called the police at 8:43 PM, and the police arrested Edward Carter at 9:24 PM. In other words, Mr. Carter had only a short period of 41 minutes from leaving the scene of the cri to his arrest.

Do you know what happened in those brief 41 minutes? He had to rush to the walnut grove 40 kiloters away, dig a hole, bury the head, then thinking it was unsuitable, he dug it out again, headed to a villa in the western suburbs 60 kiloters away, dug a hole, buried the head once more, completed all this, and then got caught by the police on a road 10 kiloters away! Oh, yes, en route, he also had to take a bath and change into clean clothes because severing a head would splatter blood all over him!

41 minutes to take a bath, change clothes, and cover a distance of 110 kiloters! Ladies and gentlen, please take a good look at the defendant. Do you think my client is a bird?”
