Purple Sumrs had just finished bathing.
When Caitlin Carter entered the room, Purple was sitting on the edge of the bed drying her hair. Seeing Caitlin carrying a al, she montarily stiffened, then said, “Thank you.”
Caitlin put down the al and fell silent for a long while before saying, “In two days, your father should be discharged from the hospital.”
“Yeah,” Purple also felt emotional, “he is finally being discharged.”
“The Prosecutor’s Office is planning to prosecute your father for aiding in the destruction of evidence. I heard the prosecutor handling the case is nad Kieran Harrison,” Caitlin said softly, “Your father had so conflicts with several high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Justice over judicial reform. I’m really worried that they will take this opportunity to kick him when he’s down…”
“Nothing will happen,” Purple said, “Kieran Harrison is known as the King of Cri Investigation, and he is indeed very capable. However, as long as Edward Carter’s case can be won, the charge of aiding in the destruction of evidence will not hold up, and the Prosecutor’s Office will drop the lawsuit, don’t worry.”
Her tone was casual and her face showed not the slightest ripple, as if holding a winning hand, or as if indifferent.
Caitlin had no idea where her confidence that the Prosecutor’s Office would drop the charges ca from.
“The senior Mr. and Mrs. prefer Mr. Rieste as the lawyer,” Caitlin said bewilderedly, “I’ve t with the lawyer a few tis, and he said there’s a great chance of winning the case. I don’t know if I should believe him…”
“If he says so, it ans he has already obtained key evidence, you can trust him,” Purple said.
Caitlin looked at Purple, slightly surprised.
She thought Purple would take it to heart, considering she had previously begged her to help her younger brother, and now she sought soone else’s assistance.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to trust Purple, but the situation was dire, and she couldn’t place all her hopes on Purple.
“As long as the lawsuit can be won, it doesn’t matter who steps forward,” Purple said.
“But… what if we lose?” That was Caitlin’s nagging unease.
She had attended her brother’s court hearings twice and was very aware of how difficult the case was to win. Now that her husband was involved, if they lost, her brother would have no chance of redemption, and her husband would be stained with an indelible mark for life!
“We won’t lose,” Purple said with a faint smile, “Plus, I am here.”

However, because Purple never showed even a hint of worry, it made her seem even more cold-hearted.

In the evening, Violet ca back with red-rimd eyes; she didn’t eat dinner and went straight to her room, then, intermittent sobs could be heard coming from the room.
Violet had been running around for Christopher’s sake, and her crying return signaled that turmoil had begun anew.
Everyone gathered at Violet’s room door.
The elderly lady was worried and distressed as she knocked on the door, pleading, “Violet, Violet, what happened exactly? Did Zeke Lawson mistreat you? Please open the door!”
