Chapter 818: Chapter 818 Indifferent_1

The dining table fell silent once more, not a sound to be heard.

Violet Nelson felt as if she had been slapped in the face in public, her eyes widening in shock, and then her face gradually turned red, whether from sha or anger was unclear.

Purple Sumrs remained unflustered, leisurely sipping her soup.

Violet Nelson bit her lip, her eyes welling up with thin layers of moisture. After taking several deep breaths, she lowered her stance, “I misspoke, I’m sorry…”

“What are you apologising for!” The old lady burst into a rage, her face turning ugly as she muttered angrily, “Look at what you’ve beco! I doted on you as you grew up, not for you to be trampled upon by others!”

By overtly scolding Violet Nelson for being useless, she was in fact scolding Purple Sumrs.

...

When Purple Sumrs accused Violet Nelson of lacking manners, it indirectly implied that the old lady had failed to teach Violet well, which explains why she was so angry.

In truth, Purple Sumrs could have retaliated in a more roundabout and tactful manner. Directly calling soone out for being brainless and lacking manners did seem harsh.

But Violet Nelson should not have brought up Roy Howard’s death.

His death was a forbidden area in her heart.

In Purple Sumrs’s eyes, that montary violation was unforgivable! A strong counterattack was necessary to prevent any future occasions where Violet Nelson might take delight in ntioning the issue.

Purple Sumrs idly stirred the soup in her bowl, picking out slices of ginseng, chewing emotionlessly.

“No one is trampling her, it is she who is deaning herself,” Purple Sumrs said. “Raised in the Presidential Palace, thinking herself the president’s darling daughter, she grew accustod to adoration and privilege, believing everyone else could not be without power or status. When she saw , she forgot the most basic self-cultivation, seeing as an invader to incite and oppress, fearing that I would steal her lilight.”

She looked up at Violet Nelson, her gaze sweeping over and revealing a sharp cutting edge.

“I am not like you; I lack neither affection nor need to beg the powerful for pity. I sit here to eat my al openly and rightfully. Even if many more daughters of the president appear in the Presidential Palace in the future, I won’t act like a buffoon, leaping and jumping absurdly, which is truly laughable!”

Purple Sumrs’s words, like sharp little knives, thodically stripped away Violet Nelson’s hypocritical mask, layer by layer, revealing a raw, bloody ss impossible to watch without wincing.

Violet Nelson’s face drained of color, leaving her ashen-faced.

The old lady’s breaths ca fast and heavy, her chest heaving dramatically as she exclaid in a fit of anger, “What attitude is this!!”

That’s the way with elders, after all; when their authority feels threatened, they talk to you about principles, but when you refute them on principle, they talk to you about attitude.

“To bring you back, the whole family has been at great pains, preparing banquets and dealing with public opinion. Everyone has been thinking of ways to solve your problems, and this is the attitude you show? Growing up wild outside, you have the audacity to spout nonsense without knowing your place! How ungrateful!” The old lady was beside herself with rage.

Purple Sumrs quietly listened to the end, swallowed the last spoonful of soup, placed her white porcelain soup spoon down, and slowly stood up.

Everyone at the dining table looked towards her.

“Madam, what attitude do you expect from ?” Purple Sumrs’s voice was soft and clear, “Grateful? Before this lunch, for eighteen years I hadn’t drunk a sip of the Simonson Family’s water, hadn’t eaten a morsel from the Simonson Family’s table, nor taken a penny from you. Now, I’m using my own blood to save your son’s life, and yet I should be grateful and indebted to you?”

Purple Sumrs chuckled lightly and said, “I have finished eating, please enjoy.”

She turned and left, not bothering to glimpse at the old lady’s livid face.

She ca to the Simonson Family to seize an opportunity, not to vie for favor with Violet Nelson. Violet held tight to the affection she got from the Simonson Family, fearing to lose the slightest bit, oblivious to the fact that Purple Sumrs simply did not care.

Whether they liked her or not was of no concern to her, and she had no intention of pleasing anyone.
